I went to Disneyland last month with my family. My 24 year old sister wanted a popsicle and they told her to wait a few minutes before eating it because it was stored in dry ice and very cold. She didn’t listen, and in the middle of a conversation with her friends she licks it and gets her tongue stuck. It was hilarious recreation of this scene.

When we went to Disneyland, my sister got her knee stuck in the fence in front of the (then) Swiss Family Robinson's tree house (a few months later she did the same thing at home on our porch lol)

You know what's more scary about the situation screaming in fear but only hear your friends say Ralph what do we do I don't know the bell rang the bell rang and just get no help still even knowing that I got to agree this scene this pretty funny

Watched this movie my first time in maybe 1993, ever since then this has aired every Christmas on TBS from Christmas Eve night until noon Christmas Day. And it never gets old I literally watch the movie 3 or 4 times back to back and enjoy it.

@TinyMustache I think Ralphie was just trying to act innocent like he didn't know who Flick was since it sounds like he was responsible for getting Flick's tongue stuck to the pole. Ms. Silas only asked him because she probably knew that Ralphie, Flick, and Schwartz are three best friends.

His screams sounded so real, I just watched in shock as a kid. I had the same look as those kids surrounding him 😂

I watch this every year! It's a ritual...lol! Reminds me of my school and my childhood! Love it! And when he gets that BB gun, I tear up every time! What a great dad!

My favorite part of this scene is when everyone gets up to go see out the window with the teacher, except Ralphie and Schwartz, because they already know what’s going on😂

While I was watching a Christmas story the other day, it just kind of reminded me of something back from when I was a kid. When we wanted these really cool Hess trucks for Christmas right, our parents or one of our relatives had to walk or drive there to hess's gas station and buy them for us. Those hess's toy trucks are so cool even the newer ones too. Good times and great memories, for sure.

I saw a documentary on the DVD of A Christmas Story that said how they did this scene. The flagpole was hollow and they had suction inside of it. The place where flick put his tongue on it was a hole, and the suction kept it in place to make it appear like it was stuck.

That's cool. I wondered how they went about filming this scene. I live in one of the places the movie was filmed. I remember a child doing this at my school during recess, but it was a fence pole.
