I luv it when Ralphie says to the witch “Don’t bother me. I’m, I’m thinking.” Even after 40 years, I still use that line on occasion. Especially to my wife.

You hear the phrase “you’ll shoot your eye out” so many times in the movie but I swear Santa’s delivery is the funniest of the bunch

I have to say Ralphie’s turn down of the witch is ironically sad because she actually nicer to him than Santa or his elves

I read somewhere the actress portraying the female angry/nasty elf got the part because she acted similarly like she did at 3:33 when she went to audition for the part but time had run out but she put up a big fuss that she was waiting in line too long to just be turned away at the last moment.

Poor Ian petrella in real life during this scene was terrified of heights/the slide. He even said once that his screaming reaction while going down the slide was genuine.

I love this. At Christmas I go around shouting HO! HO! HO!! all the time. It's a tradition.

I also love that when Ralphie and Randy 1st get into the line. It wasn't the Mall employee dressed as a Elf. It was the guy who told Ralphie where the line started. That Elf was like who cares. 😂 Santa and he staff were assholes this movie is great.

That disappearing smile with the music in the background will never cease to be hilarious.

A few years ago, I was at the park with my nieces I sat on the top of the slide when my niece started climbing up she was asking me something but I thought this was the perfect: A Christmas Story opportunity. I told her "you'll shoot your eye out kid" and pushed her down with my boot saying ho ho ho and watched her slide down the slide. It was an awesome moment to recreate.

For me it’s the sadistic lingering smile at 2:06 that gets a laugh every time.

I just found out the director also makes a cameo in this movie. He's the guy walking by and asks Ralphy's dad "What is that?" regarding the lamp.

Biden: “What do you want for Christmas?” Ralphie: “I was a 9mm” Biden: “you’ll blow your lung out”

This movie was on my grandfather TV for 20 plus years every Christmas

This was a beautifully handcrafted movie. Instant legend when it came out.

Santa sounds like he’s trying to make a point when he’s Ho Hoing in Ralphie’s face.😂

4:22 the narrator and writer of the movie Jean Shepard originally had the iconic line “You’ll shoot your eye out” one time in the script. The Director Bob Clark liked it so much that he decided to use it repeatedly throughout the movie.

As a kid I could never understand why Santa and the Elves were SO mean….

This movie has a bunch of classic scenes, but I think this one is the best. Watching it for the first time as a kid had me feeling all kinds of different emotions 🤣🤣

Department store, not mall. They don’t really exist anymore, but there used to be these multi-story buildings in cities that had massive stores that sold clothes (designer and cheap) home furnishings, jewelry/perfumes, household appliances, and probably a few more odds and ends. They definitely predate malls.

​@@isaacgraham5727 Malls are just department stores that were laid out more horizontally than vertically to cover more walking grounds, because businessmen back then thought more customers would stay in the buildings and increase chances of buying things as opposed to climbing sets of stairs/escalators just to find the one section of the store.
