My mother used to read this to all five of us in front of a fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate! Thank you Charles Dickens and Mom for this legacy. A great reading sir. Storytelling is our heritage we cannot afford to lose it.

It's half past six in the morning, Christmas day [2021] and it started snowing about 45 minutes ago. The ground is already white all over. It was over thirty years ago the last time it snowed here on Christmas day. We're lucky [or unlucky if you own a car] if we get a couple of inches of snow in January or February, and it usually only stays around long enough to complicate the morning commute before it rains off so this is pretty special. It's a quiet, one household Christmas this year due to several issues, and as I look out over my neighbourhood, all I feel right now is peace and contentment [and a strong desire for ice cream, snow always makes me crave ice cream]. I'm neither rich nor privileged, I live a modest life, but a Christmas morning like this makes me remember and be grateful for every small bit of good fortune in my life. I wish ALL of you, no matter what you celebrate this time of year, the same peace and contentment. Merry Christmas.

@@janlundberg5924 Vancouver B.C. Canada. It looks like we MAY have snow again this year, although they say it will stop on the 23rd, that can change. One can only hope. Last year, it snowed the WHOLE day, never stopped. The day was spent cooking, listening to music, watching old musicals, and of course eating. It was one of the most peaceful Christmas's I've ever spent. It would be just too wonderful if it happens again. Here's wishing you and yours as happy a Christmas as I had last year and hope to repeat this year.

@@janetcw9808 It snowed here this past Tuesday, like it did Christmas day last year, of course being a normal business day, it was less tranquil than last year, 1 hour commute taking four hours, etc. and we've just dug ourselves out enough for the next snowfall tonight. Unfortunately by Christmas eve day, it will turn to rain, and rain the entire week following. Almost but not quite a white Christmas. Doesn't matter, it's STILL going to be a wonderful day.

My favourite of Charles Dickens work and you made it very enjoyable to listen to . Getting older makes reading this harder but I’ve read it every year since I since I was 16 and watch every movie they make of the book , so it was a joy to find this . I will be 70 soon so that you again for the pleasure 👏🇨🇦☃️❄️

Many thanks for this brilliant rendering of a true classic. I know you put a lot of your valuable time into this rendition, a beautiful Christmas gift to a lot of people you've never met. In these massively troubled times, a strongly positive emotional experience is all too rare. Dickens' warm and warming tale is only matched by your moving narration. I've noted before how perfect your voice and your gift as a reader are for the classic ghost, horror and suspense tales you usually read for us. They're also ideally suited for this one, which can seem maudlin in the wrong hands. Somewhere not too far away, Mr. Dickens is smiling.

@@louise7552 : There is nothing preventing you from re-celebrating it six months later, in the depths of winter. Rebirth can really happen at any time of year, if you put your mind and heart to it. If it doesn't come to you, you can go to it.

My first time read! I’ll keep my thoughts posted throughout my ride.

I, like you, have adored this story since childhood. In recent years, as I make festive preparations, I listen to it read aloud and I know that I will never tire of it in my lifetime. A replica of the original 1st edition goes on display each year at Christmas time and my mind can never let go of the wonderful descriptions through the staves including the lessons for humanity that still resonate today. 178 years will have passed this month since A Christmas Carol was published and I believe it captures hearts and minds as much today as when the 1st editions sold out by Christmas Eve in 1843. Your recited version is by far the best I have heard and it is obviously read by someone who holds close every word. Truly wonderful and a gift to those that listen. Many thanks to you and with it being that most appropriate time of year to say it a Merry Christmas to you.

@@BitesizedAudio its nice to see that you responded to eliza's comment a year after you uploaaded this reading. i think too many people uplooad their content and then seem to forget about it and dont respond to comments or probably ever read them. "youtubers" just flood youtube with their stuff and dont care. i think it was a bad idea to start letting people make money by making videos like a career.

Yes he's really into character I like when they go into the character the rest of them just talk like with everyday voice which is very very boring thank you for getting into character great job

The voice of the reader sounds like the voice of the cartoon “Mr. Peabody”. I like that voice. It’s quite a story!

This is just wonderful, probably the best I've listened too and believe me....I've listened to quite a few variations of a Christmas Carol, but this is one is terrific, you have done Charles Dickens proud, thank you so much for this, I'm sitting here warm and snug while a ferocious thunderstorm is going on outside and absolutely revelling in your words, a fine narration for sure ....thank you again !!

Dickens's vocabulary is just over my head! But I admire the way you're narrating it. Carefully and skilfully. It's pleasure to listen to again and again. I read "A Christmas Carol" ten years ago at school, translated, and loved that story. And lately I wished to recollect it, but this time in original, and found your audiobook. And I'm glad I did. It helps me to enrich my English.

Wonderful! I have been raving about the individual releases to my wife for some time now and I think I've piqued her curiosity enough that I can get her to listen to this. I've read the book several times and I enjoy hearing the audiobook too. I have played Scrooge 3 times in our community theater productions and every time I hear the book I discover something new about him that helps my performance on stage. Also, I am pretty sure I am the first Arapaho man in history to play Scrooge.

Every Christmas I watch two versions and every year my heart breaks to think back to how life was for my great grandparents lives in such an unforgiving society at that time. The sentiments in this story really show us what the Christmas spirit should be....a wake up call for us every year.

Im using this because i have dyslexia and my eyesight is kinda bad and so im using an audio so its easier for me and i was skimming inside my book but my eyes just started hurting and i got a headache so i stopped but im still listening. This is for my GCSE'S so thank you x you've made this so much easier for me xxx

My parents had a recording of this. I'm sure it was bought in the 1950's. It was frightening, I still remember looking behind me as we listened to it. I wish I had that album now. This is very well done, thank you.

Having never gotten through the book myself, I appreciate this greatly! It surprises me how much the muppet Christmas carol actually stayed true to this, particularly with the original version of that movie. Would never have expected that without hearing the book!
