As much as Shaka jokes around, he is so well spoken, do so much in the background as humble as he is, fights for causes he truly believes in & is just overall genuine good person.

Thank you to Shaka Hislop for his focus on mental health resources in football. There is so much money in football and so many players who come from pretty rough backgrounds. It’s a fantastic opportunity for teams to identify support opportunities to help these guys overcome their mental struggles just like many have overcome their personal struggles through football. Pay these players back for what they’ve provided to kids for their football genius.
Fair play to Frank for apologising as I think that’s how a lot of us were. We shouldn’t but every now and then we need these reminders that you never know what people are going through. The world of social media allows us to provide snap reactions and I think we all could do with stopping and just making sure that person is ok ❤️

Well said Shaka. All the best Dele ... thank you for your honesty and bravery!
i think i have a deeper understanding that no matter how famous you are, we are all equal when we struggled with something as traumatic as the experience of Dele. It was one of the most emotional, brave, raw interviews i have ever watched about someone going thru this kind of mental struggle. Sports governing body should also ensure that a therapist is always be available to hear out and listen. Believe me, it makes so much difference. Hope he's healing well and can go back to being the player he believes he still can be. Well done Gary for allowing Dele to share his experience to help others out
Ale Moreno speaks wonderfully and practically too

@@dinogovender5074Huh. What are you talking about? The criticism for Dele still stands. This discussion is about his personal life.
This was one of the best segments in the history of ESPN FC
He’s deeply traumatised. The fact that he dug so deep and lifted his footballing career to the heights is already a remarkable achievement. Many would have just given up early on and would live well below the radar. However being in the limelight comes with many many challenges and him coming out to the public to explain his situation is brave where many would not talk about. Most importantly, his journey to health and future relationship wellness would inspire others who are affected similarly.
I was in tears, his honesty just crushed me. I wish this young man nothing but the best wether it’s playing again or just living a life without such extreme emotional pain. Bravo Dele ❤️🙏
Great point from Ale, sports are so often an outlet and a chance at a semblance of control for a young person in a horrific situation and I can’t imagine losing a coping mechanism is so drastic a way
What a Tribute ESPN FC! This is why I rate y’all over TALKSPORTS Ale’s analysis was 🎯 So Deep & RIGHT! Shaka’s analysis was so respectful & mature! Frank’s analysis was just so sincere & empathetic!
Ale is a very smart insightful man. His son must be a great kid/man.
I am one who also has gone through this thank you for doing this. Nobody ever really understands what we go through. I also gave up at 17 because everyone put me down said i wasn't good enough...
We spent too much time criticizing him calling him an unprofessional player and has a prima donna attitude. Dele Alli after a stellar start to his career for club and country he has experienced a decline from the top of the game and has received lots of criticism for not loving the game anymore. Hearing his recent interview with Gary Neville explaining all the trauma the sleeping pills and mental health problems he’s been experiencing he has every right to speak out and explain what he’s going through. He’s human and he’s allowed to come out and say all of this stuff I have no issue with that. He has problems outside of the game of football and if he’s saying that he wanted to retire from football altogether 3 years ago then the problems he had it has its levels and it’s bad. He’s been dealing with this for years since he was a child and almost ended his footballing career because of this and it’s better late than never to speak out and he did the right thing. I think football owes Dele Alli a huge apology we should sympathize this player.

Paul Pogba everyone knows that going to Manchester United was premature and making the wrong move at the wrong time is the main reason why we never saw his real potential. Thank you shaka. That was a really touching and thoughtful comments.
Ale made a good point about it being safe haven until he stopped playing well, situation must have become much worse
Shaka highlighted a very important point about managers who do a great job in dealing with players on a personal level, am looking at Ferguson, Wenger and Ancelloti. These 3 are sterling examples of what a proper manager should be. Mourinho, guardiola are more result oriented and overly methodical, maybe over time as they get older they will understand that players deal with personal traumas that can impact their performance on the pitch.

The world we live in is so cruel, because we always hear about how if a man shows his emotions he is weak. Men suffer in silence and so of us suffer from depression and don't open up because of what we assume others will think about us. I myself thought I would go in car and just sit there contemplating on life, never turned to drug but there was always a bottle of Jameson, Guinness or Hennessy in my truck. I would always think drinking would drown my depression, but I would sober up and realize that my life's situation is still the same. If you are depressed and suffering in silence please seek professional help. I now know speaking with someone you don't know helps you a lot. Prayers 🙏🏿 Deli

And I'm Just Glad The Best Football Commentator Ale Moreno is a Real Madrid Fan... Hala Madrid.. we always have The best..
in the nba, in recent years, theres been more dialogue about mental health. if im not mistaken, one player even took some time away to get his mental right, to the extent anyone can anyway. and i think some teams even have therapists and whatnot on the team personnel. im surprised soccer isnt more progressive in this regard
I am very touched to hear what he has facing his entered life, we have to be more emphatic with our young players, last week, here you guys played down Gabriel Jesus interview that he said that he had a meltdown after Guardiola dump him for a defender in a champions league match, but we don’t know also Gabriel Jesus problems with rejection and why this was so hard to deal for him. We need more empathy with our young players, all of them. We don’t know what is happening in their life, and most importantly what happened
I had a feeling that addiction may very involved and lots of the pundits did suspect there may be things going on off the field. I hope the guy gets the help he needs and can play some more good football if he wants to.
Lest anyone be confused by Dele's video--it truly is two things at once: it is a tough watch regardless of whether you have had similar experiences in your life as he has or not, and yes, it's a PR move as Dele himself admits--once it was released through the rags about his rehab stint, he had no choice but to come forth and own it lest he be viewed as some kind of burnt out dishrag. It serves to let him decide his own narrative and finally offers transparency as to why his form dropped so severely. This may help him with future employment especially if he can turn himself around.

Listening to Shaka and Frank fall over themselves praising Dele Alli for overcoming his struggles just after they, for all intents and purposes, made fun of and derided Jesus for admitting to crying and calling his mom after being left out of an important game, is maddening. These two need to do some soul searching. Nobody knows what any player is going through. For all we know Jesus could have been going through a very tough time in his life at that time, but Frank and Shaka essentially laughed it off and made it seem like Jesus was weak or a sissy for crying.

Well said @AleMoreno, @ShakaHislop, @FrankLeboeuf
Clubs have a lot to answer for... When you're giving young men millions, with no 'aftercare', counselling or therapy to ensure they are equipped for a life in the spotlight and all the temptations, is just wrong. We just let them make mistakes and then punish them, such as with Ivan Toney. Then to paper over the cracks by giving players prescription drugs to keep them playing requires a much deeper investigation, as they are completely failing any duty of care. Fans are very quick to call a player all kinds of personal insults, just because their performances don't meet our expectations (whatever that means), without knowing what could be going on behind the scenes. Regular people (not to be patronising) only seem to focus on money, and if you've got money, you're not allowed to have ANY problems or excuses especially in sport. Nothing could be further from the truth. Even managers, Jose being the biggest culprit, don't seem to give a sh*t about the mental struggles of young players... KDB, Luke Shaw, Dele among others have all been publicly humiliated by Jose when they were clearly struggling. I love Jose but that's disgusting. Young men are softer nowadays, they just are, and mental health issues are at an all-time high... We need a little more compassion, effort and class when handling these issues. Sorry for rambling on but this is a massive, widespread issue with young men killing themselves every day. Football clubs should be setting the example but they're doing absolutely nothing.
Accountability is the key word why people don’t empathize. If the poor had your money they won’t see what you’re going through as a problem
Inshallah he makes a comeback
It takes a big man to apologize, Frank Le Boeuf.
I too loved dele but I really didn't know this is what he was going through CR7 was a poor individual and he was also beaten to stop at least that's what I saw on the internet now look at him Messi was probably told he won't play football look at him now

The fact that I’ve already seen idiots in comments sections making fun of him for being sexually abused as a 6 year old tells me that we’re a lost cause as a species. Too many idiots, not enough empathy. I don’t know why deli chose to come out with this now but I hope it helps people who also bottle trauma up. It costs absolutely nothing to just be decent people and treat others with respect.
This is an issue in sports that should have been acknowledged many years ago when Robert Enke committed suicide because of his depression when his daughter died. He spoke up. There is no excuse for coaches to not know that they play a major role in the psychological health of their player's life. Love you, Shaka, but I do not agree with you.

3:16 I don’t think “they are millionaires so they should just be happy” but I do think that when they become millionaires at 19 from poor backgrounds that it makes their mental health worse! And we need to address this somehow, there should be organisations in fifa that help these kids manage money and their families who would be on at them asking for thousands of pounds constantly for their habits and debts, it’s too much

I think we all can be mature and emphatatic enough to realize that Deli Ali's struggles and how everyone in all walks have their stories. But at the same time, these MF'ers are being little bit too hypocritical and I feel like they're pandering a bit (doing their share of "Stunning and Brave" montage...) The fact that they probably recorded this video within the minutes of the original Gary Neville's interview being released really shows how much "reflection" they must have taken on their part.
Shaka🤎
Guys stop justifying his actions. Was mourinho there in turkey or Everton. I guess when he was concentrating on football and only football he was a successful player. When he started to divert his focus elsewhere, he was benched. Instead of him working hard on himself, he started talking about the past and how it is affecting his career, which, by the way, many of it were lies as his family came out after the interview and said
