Kudos Lloyd, it's rare to find a popular youtuber who, when interviewing a person, knows to let that person speak. I'm grateful you have resisted pressure to challenge the interviewee and have refreshingly bucked the trend of making interviews about the interviewer and how smart the interviewer is rather than the guest. Leave bluster and challenges to other interviewers, there's no shortage of those who will talk over, cut off, or challenge guests. There's precious few who let people tell the stories in full.

I am a civilian EMT but I am surprised how similar many things are. And then something weird happens - like completely ignoring training levels and asking a simple driver to set up an IV access. In Austria, you need to pass three different exams before you are allowed to go this far. And yes, eating after demanding jobs. I don't know if it is a coping mechanism but I always jug down a cola or eat chocolate when we had to go all in. Unless it was really disgusting. Then a breath of fresh air does it.

Underappreciated comment. I think first aid/basic trauma (pre-?, as in until the ambulance arrives) care is shamefully neglected in society (or gatekept? I really don't see much logic behind not teaching the teachable). I know there are courses, but they really just teach you the low end basics on how to deal with someone fainting etc... Some are mandatory in my country for example for getting a drivers licence but this is just bare minimum and basically not much of use in any real world scenario. Minutes save lives and accidents tend to happen. As you said this should be a mandatory subject in schools, maybe for like 1 or 2 semesters or something. Cheers from Germany.

The healthcare institution that I have had the privilege to work for has the unenviable distinction of seeing the most penetrating trauma in our state and runs a great community outreach program called “Fighting Chance” program, which teaches community members to provide first aid to victims of gunshot injury including the provision of tourniquets I believe. Thanks for this video, I never have been to war, though I was "military age" just before the start of the GWOT era, and had a lot of friends join, who when back, saw life differently from me at the time... I still don't understand their view entirely, but from these videos, and having been "illegally" dead for a few moments, helped me understand the appreciation of life, though I'll never understand the war part, just get glimpses of how heavy a topic it is, and how deep it comes to reside in people, through videos like this where people share their experiences, as my friends who served would never talk about it, as it'd "change my nature and views on them" So I appreciate these videos and interviews? Or just open forums for foreigners who've been in Ukraine after serving share (Also illegally dead as in not legally as they didn't wanna declare me till the Dr had another Dr with him for some reason, thankfully he didn't as I came back because someone kept trying cpr on me way after they should have stopped for someone with a 105°f fever with a 60% pulse ox before passing the veil, they usually would have called it fast)

8:00 It's funny for me. The phrase “London is the capital of Great Britain” is a kind of meme in Ukraine. This is the first words that children learn in english lessons at school and it is often the only thing that they remember. So, if a ukrainian says this phrase, it means something like “I studied english at school, but I don’t remember anything” or “I only know a couple of words”. Good interview, I'll wait for next episode :)
