Really interesting on your part to classic Indian cinema of 1950 to 1960. This happens to be the golden era of Hindi cinema. I would like to refer you to react to Dream sequence songs of Awara. These are 3 different songs oneafter another in quick succession and forms the heart of the movie Awara. Such a dream sequence happened never before and never after this film.

First of all, congrats on the 'cinema' gig. That sounds really interesting. And I hope the 'Bollywood Classic' season goes well. Do share how it all goes. It would be great to hear about this project. Back to your reaction. I wish the 'MERA JOOTHA HAI JAPANI' video song had lyrics. Without lyrics, you cannot fully understand or appreciate this song. Take a look at the lyrics of this song if you can as it will provide you with context and meaning. Here's a flavour of the chorus: 'MERA JOOTA HAI JAPANI' My shoes are from Japan 'YEH PATLOON ENGLISHSTANI' My trousers are from England 'SAR PE LAAL TOPI RUSSI' The red hat on my head is from Russia 'PHIR BHI DIL HAI HINDUSTANI' But my heart is Hindustani / Indian He is saying despite the colonisation of India, and despite the invasions of my country, I am still Hindustani. I can wear clothes from all over the world, but my heart will always be Indian, and belong to my country. It's patriotic, emotional and heartfelt. The song sends a very strong message that nobody can rule you because your heart belongs to your motherland; India. The song is in fact very deep and meaningful, but portrayed in a delightful way. This is the brilliance of Raj Kapoor, and the reason why he is still regarded as a 'change-maker' and 'influencer' of Indian cinema. He very cleverly told social stories and addressed deep societal issues through his films by taking on a delightful character - similar to that of Charlie Chaplin. But through every film, his stories dealt with social injustice, discrimination, poverty and modernity even. India was at a crossroads when Raj Kapoor was making films, and this is beautifully reflected in his cinema. He packaged his films very well with powerful storytelling, cinematography, music, drama and performances. For your selection of 'Classic' Indian films, then Raj Kapoor must feature on that list. For example, 'SHREE 420' and 'BOBBY' are two diametrically opposite films made by Raj Kapoor. 'SHREE 420' talks about the injustices and irony faced by the common man/person and 'BOBBY' deals with young budding love in 1970's India layered with conflict between social status, parental objection and love. 'BOBBY' became a trendsetter for modern romantic films and paved the way for this genre. Both films represent a beautiful yet stark India trying to find herself and stand on her own feet again. Great reaction! 😍

The song doesn't mean despite invasions we remain Indian at heart. It means we'll take our inspiration from the East (Japan), the West (England), Russia (Communism), but will chart a unique path which will remain Indian.

@@Shourav101 Exactly! The Republic may only have been a few years old, but the foreign policy of Nehru was surprisingly mature and moral. He refused to be drawn into the bloc politics of the Cold War, joining instead with leaders such as Tito, Nasser, Nkumrah and Sukarno to forge a path free of domination or interference, mwhat came to be known as the Non Aligned Movement. This was reflected in Bollywood, which produced several outward-looking films, of Indians (including Raj Kapoor) experiencing love and culture abroad. But this created a tension that would often be thrown into relief, as it was in Sree 420: of the innocence and humility of poor country folk, being seduced by the rootless modernity of calculating, urbane city dwellers. This was a very common theme right up to the 1970s, and beyond. But while this tension was often presented in terms of class, wealth and social status, there were some great examples that reflected on the position of women in this brave, new India. The song Mujhe Buddah Mil Gaya, from the movie Sangam (1964), is a hilarious send up of a Raj Kapoor now ossified in his homage to Charlie Chaplin. The divine Vyjayantimala mocks Kapoor for wanting to attend a cabaret show at the Moulin Rouge, but not taking her along with him. Not one of the giants of Bollywood history, but a fun song nonetheless

The RK studio adopted the pose of Rajkapoor and Nargis in pyar hua song as their emblem / logo. The movie was big hit in USSR and is still revered and enjoyed till date. Russians know the lyrics and song. It was a movie of socialist taste and people connected with the theme and presence of Rajkapoor and Nargis. I must tell you that you should read about Rajkapoor and Nargis. Nargis was wife of Sunil Dutt and mother of Sanjay Dutt from another classic Munna bhai MBBS. Rajkapoor was Grandfather of Ranbeer Kapoor and a legend…He is called Dream Merchant of Indian Cinema.

you saw the three kids ? the oldest one was raj kapoor's brother shashi kapoor and the youngest one was raj kapoor's son rishi kapoor , fun fact : shashi kapoor's played rishi kapoor's father's role in the movie " kabhi kabhi " , the age difference doesn't make any sense 🤣 but I still liked the movie ! they're both dead now !

It's interesting to know that you are willing to create the seasonal program. What will the program gonna look like? Do you need some editing, banner making or anything like that for your program? Also about the Japanese shoes. As far as I know, the traditional one is made from the wood, designed like a beach thongs and if I'm not mistaken, it's quite noisy when we use it to walk on the hard ground. The socks for Japanese shoes are special designed too, between foot thumbs and other foot fingers is separated and it's up to ankle
