A BRAND NEW SHOW!! The 3 Goals that could’ve been STOPPED this Weekend…

Спорт

THE KEEPERS CORNER! - Ever seen a goal go in and thought, "Can the goalie do better there?"
Well we've got the answer!
Every week we'll pick three goals from the weekends Premier League action which we feel, could and should have been prevented. We'll explain exactly the reasons why, in the most detailed and technical breakdown you won't find anywhere else!
The three goals we selected this week are...
1 - Andre Onana - Could he have gotten down quicker for Dominic Solanke's opener at the Vitality Stadium
2 - Vicario - Should the Italian have held a higher position in that sweeper keeper role for Alexander Isak's 3rd goal against Newcastle
3 - Bart Verbruggen - At half-hearted attempt to clear a back pass resulted in the ball ending up in the back of the net. What could the Dutchman have done differently?
Let us know your thoughts on the show in the comments down below, we would love to hear from you!

Thank god someone is analysing Goalkeeping properly there are so many people who have an opinion on the role and probably never played the role at any level of the beautiful game. So people would just say should of saved it and provide zero explanation to what the scenario and the context of the situation is. GREAT ADDITION TO THE SHOW KEEP IT UP LADS 👍🏽

@@Peterbrendanalbert the best advice I can give any fellow keeper is learn at your pace if you feel that a manger , a coach or any individual is hindering your development it's about using skills you have learnt in sports and in life and developing to what suits you as long as your style and technique are effective for your desired outcome and are not putting you at risk due to poor technical advice and misleading instructions. That's the best way to combat anyone who provides random instructions for the sake of acting as if they understand somthing to a higher level then yourself.

Goalkeeper here. The very first analysis that is clear and concise when it comes to the actual decision making keepers make every single play. What I would love is for you to clip all the times announcers say "The keeper should have done better there" and show them why they are wrong nearly every single time they say that.

As a GK coach this is great to see, this is not GK bashing they have to make multiple split second decisions and at the top level any wrong ones result in a goal. Love the one on Onana and pointing out Harry Maguires position covering half the goal just like a wall. I have watched Onana closely and he bounces too much for me and rarely gets a power dive right. The GK position is very technical and I spent a lot of time explaining to keepers no matter how great a dive you do if your starting position was not right by inches the ball goes in. Superb.

  • @Skiptoomyl0u

    @Skiptoomyl0u

Another thing I have noticed while watching Onana is that he will read shots incredibly early. At times it pays off for him and and times he has already made his decision on where to move before the ball is even struck and that can lead to some really simple shots going in. Onana is such a unique goalkeeper and would love to here other people's thoughts on him.

@@Skiptoomyl0u personally I wouldn't have bought him and would've kept de gea. Great ball playing keeper but we have rarely played possession based football this season so we are not even utilising his biggest asset. Waste of money imo and cost us european football because he had not settled yet. Hopefully doesn't end up like Fabien Barthez.

Love this, great analysis. This is where the powers that be, should be letting channels use video footage. It's educational for keeper's and "normal" fans alike. I agree with some of the other comments about showing why a keeper has made a good decision too. Most of us can get what happens "on the pitch", but channels for keepers and refs can help the understanding of some of the finer details.

As a field player back in the day, it is so nice to see how goalies analyse their own, with the onana goal my first thoughts are that maguire should have closed the space to prevent the shot. But now hearing you two talk about the intention of him of closing that left hand side is such a different perspective. Would be amazing to actually see slow by slow movement to pin point every step of the way, although that might not be possible. Liked the comparison with ederson would be a great touch to compare why one is a "mistake" and why in the same scenario it is a save. Long story short amazing looking forward to seeing more!

idk onana just seems very top heavy and seems really slow a lot of the times when he has to dive low he doesn't have that flexibility and reflexes like de gea had(don't get me wrong de gea's reflexes are world class not many can come close to him in that aspect) but hopefully when (hopefully "when" maybe it could be "if" but i hope not) we get varane and martinez fit we can push that defensive line higher and really see his best feature, his ball playing ability come into action.

Great segment, I think it would be good to see 3 great saves as well, that way we can see what they did to achieve it and compare it to where a goalie has made a slight error (and that’s all we are talking at premier league level, a slight mistake can be extremely costly) On a side note Ben you must be pleased for your old club achieving Back to Back promotions. I know you hung up your boots after a few games this season, but you still made that penalty save against Wimbledon to win Wrexham the point, so you still played a little part in it👍🇬🇧

Should do more for young keepers on positioning, communication, and maybe a segment where you use AI or something cool to show a keepers eye view of an attack building against you and where you’d be wanting your defenders to be

I love the concept Fozzy, would like to see some more perspectives from other GKs in this kind of segment... How about.... *The Box View* as the new name for this. Love the stuff Up the Fozzy
