For those alive their eyes are normal like Luffy’s But what makes this so interesting is Sabo, because he isn’t shown to have blacked out eyes or regular open eyes. His eyes are always either not shown or simply closed, which I think represents Sabo’s currently unknown state at this point in one piece

The genius of this scene cannot be put into words. The exact archetypes of Roger Oden and Whitebeard are shown in the brothers. But the events are from different predicaments and are different seperated events. And yet the setup for Roger broadning his hands to explain while Luffy runs towards him to state his dream is like Roger is the proud father that encouraging Luffy to fulfill his dream while waiting to hug him, and those are mannerisms from different events of people that didnt know each other. It blowed my mind!!!

I really like the idea that Luffy and Roger have the dream of throwing the biggest party in the world, with every tribe and nation. Every arc ends with Luffy and his allies celebrating with a huge party and we’ve seen that Roger loves partying as well. My guess is that Roger made it to Raftel (Laughtale) and learned about Joy Boy’s ability to bring all kinds of people together (including Fishmen and Minks) and wished that he was born in the same era. He could have also learned about Joy Boy’s return in the future, which is why he and his crew say they were too early. I think Joy Boy’s (and now Luffy’s) wish was to have a party with all kinds of people. Maybe Joy Boy’s promise to the Fishmen was to bring them to the surface with the Noah where they could party together but Imu and the Celestial Dragons got in the way. Luffy will eventually destroy Fishman Island and bring them to the surface on the Noah where they’ll be able to coexist with humans, thereby fulfilling the promise. Luffy will also bring the Minks through Zunesha. Maybe he’ll even be a liasion with the Marines he’s befriended along the way, and who will probably ally themselves with him for the final war.

This is how extending scene from original material feels like enhancing it instead of just stretching it. Luffy struggling againts batman and sumo guy are primary example of the sin. And this scene is so Oda like scene, he hates copy pasting his old drawing for flashback panels; I feel like most director would just use the old scene to save time. Please do more One Piece episode Ishitani 😭
