My grown daughter has 2 axolotls. They don’t do much, lol, but she loves them. They don’t look to be too hard to take care of. My daughter suffered a massive stroke after giving birth to her third son, 2 years ago (at age 31). She is partially paralyzed and manages with them just fine. She has a deep aquarium for them with lots of places for them to hide. Her other critters don’t bother with them.

Hi Crystal, just what I needed a yarn video. I worked NY primary yesterday, 16 hours helping people vote. Relaxing today, and knitting, and excited to see new yarn. Wow, really Bag O Day colors for sure. I like allot of brighter colors but, that dark blue would look great with some other blue colors in a gradient scarf or cowl. Really like the twill yarn color, I want to make a cowl or scarf with gold yarn mixed with multi color yarn. Provincial Tweed, really nice color with those flex. Argyle has this gold and multi color yarn I want to make a hat and cowl out of in their Luminous Brooklyn hand dyes yarn. Going to wait till Septembers NYC Yarn Crawl. Man Crystal, you should see some of the ads they have during your video. Just saw an ad for how to remove wrinkles around the mouth geez, just what I need to see at 12:30 am. Oh the spice color is beautiful and like the blend. Wow, now your talking my language, I love bright pink and fuzzy is nice.

Axolotl owner here, they are fairly easy under the right conditions. They prefer cold water. Use aquarium sand or leave bottom bare. Never use aquarium gravel with axolotls as they can easily swallow the pebbles causing blockages! They are like little vacuums when they eat lol. Dew worms/earthworms are a great food for them if your pet shop sells them. A 20 gallon long tank would be best for one axolotl if you can find one. Tank length is more important than height. They do come to the surface for a gulp of air. They don’t like a lot of water movement. If the filter causes too much movement try a shower puff in front to slow the flow (I did this with my Spanish ribbed newts) Also, some will say you can keep more than one together but, in my experience it ended deadly & I wouldn’t recommend it. They are adorable neat critters. They can also regrow body parts! One of mine had his leg tore off & eaten by the other 🫣 it was neat watching his new leg grow back. My mistake was letting him back into the tank with the other. He was attacked again & sadly ended up passing away at only a year old.

Thank you for sharing. I've always had good experiences ordering from knitpicks and wecrochet. I like the yarns I've ordered from them, their acrylic brava tweed yarn and even their normal brava (acrylic) line is nice... especially when it's on sale. I usually order on sale. I have one of their alpaca yarns I haven't used yet and I think I may have the Hawthorne yarn but I haven't used it yet either. I did buy one of their mystery boxes once and it was nicely put together. I got it before I had my KZread channel so I didn't do a video unboxing of it. I haven't really looked to see if they have or have had any more mystery bags. I've heard that chroma yarn is really nice and I like to buy from them when they have their good sales. :). I also love fall colors and I like browns, greys and neutrals, strong reds and blues, dark ones too...

You mentioned Axolotls, I've spent several years working in a fish store, and know a fair bit about their care. The tricky parts are mainly temperature and water quality. They're a cold-water species, and prefer their water to be mid 60s Fahrenheit. This can be extremely tricky to maintain, but also incredibly important. If they're kept above 70F, they become stressed and more prone to illnesses. If you run your AC at 70 or lower, you should be fine. Water temp is generally a couple degrees below room temp if I recall correctly. Otherwise, I'd recommend maintaining them in a basement. True water chillers are extremely difficult to find nowadays. As for water quality, axolotls are amphibians, and have very porous skin. Anything in their water is also in them, so it's very important to properly establish a nitrogen cycle in their tank prior to adding them. Aquarium bacteria needs to be kept cold to be effective, so shelved bacterial starters are generally well past their usefulness. Water changes of 25% every week or two are very important, and the axolotl can stay in the tank during the water change process. Additional factors include that they should NOT be kept on gravel or sand, if they ingest any by accident, it can be an impaction risk, blocking their intestines, and causing premature death. They are sensitive to bright lighting, and it is typically not recommended to light their tank. They also can be difficult to maintain on dry foods, as they have poor eyesight. Their food should be "smelly" so they can find it, it's okay if you can't smell it though, smelling in water is different than in air. Worms are their ideal diet, though they can be fed frozen foods as well. Live blackworms and nightcrawlers in particular are the best worms. Ideally, you should cut nightcrawlers so the worm piece is no longer than their head. Red wiggler worms are not ideal, and frozen bloodworms can be fed on occasion, but are fatty and lack some vital nutrients, so don't make for a good staple diet. I was sooo excited about the Oceania yarn, plastic removal from Oceans is something I'm very passionate about. I've watched plastics on beaches increase over the years, and the knowledge of the Pacific Ocean garbage patch is just absolutely tragic. I'm hoping to make an even moss stitch sweater from it, the Irish Moss color is just stunning, but I'm waiting for a good sale.
