A Booming Good Day Relic Hunting!

Ойын-сауық

On this hunt I find a bunch of Civil War relics to include an exploded musket barrel. Two of the three artillery shells I find were fully exposed and I saw them long before I got near them with a metal detector. I also give out a few tips on water hunting.

    I am always amazed when in the rare occasions you find old coins and relics either very shallow or laying right on the surface. It has happened to me several times but the ones that come to mind is a Merc buried less than a inch in front of a park bench, IHP laying right on the surface at a old fairground and a 1909 wheatie I thought was a shallow zinc penny... Crazy

    I've found 2 Guilford type points( native american arrowheads/spearheads) old enough they may have been used to hunt mastodon, or mammoths etc. Both "presented themselves" to me right on the surface, at eye level. I'm usually on the edge of the creek, in the water, by the bank watching new washout. Both times, I looked up and each point was straight in front of my face. THOUSANDS or years old, just sitting like they never moved from the day they were dropped, lost etc. 2 different locations as well. My father and I also eyeballed a 12lb solid shot cannon ball and 2 minie balls from a local civil war battle in a crack in some rocks in the river. No dirt covering them at all! Just reached down and picked them right up, lol. Its amazing when you find history so close to the surface. @bonezcustoms on Instagram

    Great video and congratulations on the shells. That is the problem I get here trash down 7 feet in the banks and mud bottoms. Very few places were the cobbles or limestone come up. Why I hunt mostly crossings. I am going to try and readjust my hunts on some smaller creeks. You would recognize the name of the creek I mostly hunt. Thanks for sharing. Storms here today. HH and stay safe!

I really would love to get the chance to meet you and detect with you one day.. although I have found nothing near what you find and I just got into detecting 3 years ago but watching your videos are awesome and really educational. ohh and by the way I don't live to far from you lol. no im not stalking you I work with an older guy named bill sorry don't know his last name but he said he has detected with you in the past once or twice he said his friend mike knows you pretty well.. well take care and good luck happy hunting. Hey Beau great video as usual, an I know the cloudiness of the water isn't that great for videos, but it is actually more authentic so newer people that get into the hobby know that not every day out on the water is going to be clear and you can see the bottom. I think we need to see that sometimes, but don't do it too often LOL. Once again Beau you are an inspiration and you and the 2 nuts from New England (Bill and HH, Dig Fellas) got me re-interested in the hobby thanks again.

    Beau, the reason that sinker had China on it was because the gov't forced the closure of the last lead smelting plant in the US. Now we only have secondary smelters operating where they recycle lead from batteries etc. Really ironic that the gov't said we're doing it too "dirty" here, and now we're getting anything lead from the world's worst violator for pollution. ; )

  • @tylerbuchholz3234

    @tylerbuchholz3234

    That's a possibility, but I doubt that they stamped china into every mold cavity. Most of the molds I've seen are for multiple sinkers for each pour. Guess it could be just a single mold though. Thanks for all you do, I'm now on my 3rd pass through all your videos and learning more each time. ; )

    I watched the video of you knocking the worst of the caked on crust from some shells you found. Any time frame on when you show what they look like after the electrolysis? Great finds again on this video! It is mighty amazing those shells have lain there in the creek (river?) for all these years, and so close to civilization. Even the folks that owned that land should have had family legends about the 'battle' that raged on their land during the Civil War! Great job,sir!

    Beau, I just discovered your channel. I have never done any metal detecting and never really even thought about it before seeing your videos. You have thrown me into motion though! I am trying to figure out a good setup for a beginner. Something that isn't over complicated, but also won't miss a lot of stuff in the ground. Do you have any good resources I could read over what machine would work best for me? I have a ton of rivers by me where I could find hopefully some stuff people have lost ( I live in the Pacific Northwest so only real relics would be Native American ones). You have a great personality for a youtube channel. I can see why you have so many followers. Your commentary is hilarious and I love that you apologize for things that are completely out of your control (for instance in this video you apologize for the wind noise). Keep it up, you are by far one of my favorite new youtube channels I have discovered!

    Thanks Beau! Sorry for my delayed response. I think I have honestly watched 90% of your videos. You really have a great personality for this. Half the time I don't even watch the video, I just listen to what you say while I work. I will definitely have to check out the areas around here. Hopefully will get a Garrett here soon! Keep searching for those relics!

    A small polarizing filter on the camera lens would cut out reflections from the water.
