A Board Book Becomes a Journal - Let's Alter a Board Book

While I loved this board book; today I am taking the "I Like Myself" book from the shelf and am going to turn it into a journal. I will be starting with the cover using Gesso, Vintage Collage Medium, Stainz by Patty Pockets, and papers from my Etsy shop. I will also use some stencils from Prima.
This inspiration is from @MichelleRaeLandry of Creative Cottage Studio. She was using a board book and all I could think was, wow, look at all those new journals sitting in my bookshelf, lol. Had to haul some to the studio.

Angela thank you so much for tagging me on your video. I am tickled to see what you did with your board book, the cover looks amazing! Not that it matters ….because of the way that you did your cover ….but I usually hit every page of my board book with sandpaper before I gesso. I generally do this just to give the gesso a little something extra to hold onto and because board books are usually covered with a very shiny coating so it improves adhesion. With the amount of matte medium and paper that was added to the cover, your artwork is going nowhere, however on some inside pages depending on what you plan to do with it, it might be more important. I hope that makes sense. I love your cover and can’t wait to see what you do inside!

I almost always use gesso on everything, but didn't want to do the sanding at all as it creates so much dust. The cover is peeling from using the stain, it caused a reaction with the other mediums so not sure what I will do next, but there is always a good fix for these things.
Hi! I was just looking at a video of the AMX (my former car that I loved--video wasn't of My car) & when it was over, your video was among several pictures that popped upon the screen. So, hey, I'll look at it now! I love the flowers, & the doilies are awesome! Very clever!
