A Blue Collar St. Louis Suburb With Loads of History: Lemay, Missouri
These days Lemay, Missouri looks like a place that doesn't have a lot going on. It looks like a blue collar community with older housing, but the community has loads of history. Nearby is the Historic Jefferson Barracks, which is the oldest military instillation west of the Mississippi River. Other things about the community includes that there used to be a lead manufacturer along the Mississippi River. Today, the site that the lead manufacturer sat on is now the River City Casino.

Fun fact. At the very end of the video, the large brick building on the right hand side of the street is the old Hancock #2 Elementary School, which I attended in the 1970s and 80s. It was built in 1913 and closed as a school in 1993. Great video!

I know it’s in the can, but just in case you go back, the pronunciation is LEEmay. I grew up there. This is a great video…..
Nice work! Been exploring St. Louis for years now, but parts of Lemay I never knew existed. Great history too!
Great video. I lived there from 96-2022. The Forder family was a major part of Lemay becoming what is it now. Just FYI
Once again, nice ride along. Thanks for sharing.

It's obvious that you are not from the area. Lemay is not pronounced Lee May'. It's Le'may, one word with the accent on Le.
My dude, Lemay is pronounced Luh-may, NOT Lee-may It has a French origin, fyi Lemay was named after Francois Lemai who pronounced HIS OWN NAME Luh-may, NOT Lee-may, as he is French
