A BETTER WAY TO SOAK TATAMI MATS??!!

Ойын-сауық

Been Struggling with a better way to Soak & prep my tatami mats for Cutting demos & practice with swordcraft, and I think this will really work for me and hopefully you can get use out of it as well.
All details of what is needed:
10' piece of PVC Pipe 4" in circumference
Cut in 3 equal pieces of 40" each which will fit any tatami matt
Cap one end tight to keep water in
Check water levels often as water is absorbed to keep Mats submerged in water at all times

Totally agree! it's information that we all need, demonstrations as a whole can get costly

No nothing about this. However, I love the thought process... It's a great idea I feel like you can build on it or keep it the same love the versatility of it

Adam Novath makes and sells those. That's effective and like my military surplus tank round tube, only being able to soak 3 at once helps to not cut them all in one session.

Nice work joe,I've seen some people do this, you might be able to get a rubber cap, that claps around it to.

Thanks...the force of that mat pushing up out of the water is fierce, would have to grasp on pretty tightly

Considered this method myself, but I rarely cut fewer than 4 mats at a time, so it didn't suit my needs. I still think it's the cleanest and most space efficient method if you only want to do one or two.

Very economical solution Joe, better than swimming around the tub with the rubber duckies for six hours with your mats, haha.

Soaking the mats adds weight and resistance, making them feel more similar to cutting a person. A dry mat is lightweight and may fly away when cut, similar to an empty water bottle...if you need help with it let me know brother...also a dry mat can scratch up your sword pretty bad
