    @@LocalGameGroup Teshar is a very complicated deck, but it looks really fun to play. I'm looking to build a competitive deck that is relatively cheap. Do you think one can do without Lion's Eye Diamond or Mox Diamond in this deck? I already have some of the expensive cards, but not all.

    Yeah! Mox Diamond > LED, but you could avoid both... I’d simple add Jeweled Amulet for added ramp and perhaps a different combo card, such as Scrabbling Claws: help with Grave hate. -Patrick

    Hey man. Always happy to see more people spreading the gospel of Teshar. As someone who has been playing this deck in many iterations since the Dominaria prerelease I have a couple thoughts. First, notable cards that I wonder why the deck is missing: Sensei's top Filigree Familiar Glint Hawk Ranger of Eos (Yes I know the new version is better synergy with Teshar, but the double tutor is amazing) Grand Abolisher Mentor of the Meek Staff of Domination Scroll Rack Aetherflux Reservoir Teferi's Protection/Angel's Grace Any white counterspell Second, cards that I wonder about the value of including: Basalt Monolith (believe it or not I think this ends up being not the best rock. Grim monolith I am less bothered by because at least you go positive with it) Engineered Explosives and Chalice of the Void. Chalice at what charge? How does that not negatively effect wanting to cast a "place of worship"? Most likely you want it on 2 or 3, which hits almost all of the important pieces. Engineered explosives will more often than not drop with a charge of 1, which would kill some of the mana rocks, sac outlets, etc. Doesn't seem as good here. Conch Horn. I playtested this and was not pleased with the card draw. It's mana negative a lot of the time and requires a special set up to be worthwhile. Given the mana loops that this deck does, I am currently trying inheritance for a similar purpose. LED but no Auriok Salvagers? In general it looks like you are hyper focused on putting cards in the graveyard, which can be great for Teshar...until you put all your answers in the graveyard and have no more disenchants, swords, unexpectedly absent, etc. to manage your opponents. I think milling yourself when you have control of a loop is great, but before then is risky. Once people catch on to how powerful Teshar can be the graveyard hate WILL get stronger in your meta. If it's not now, run amok my dude! In general though cards in hand > cards in yard, because if you get enough in hand you can sculpt both your hand and your graveyard, and it is always better to have the choice.

    A lot to unpack here... I promise, I will get back to this in Part Two. At least, most of what was suggested here. What I can say: I’ve used every card you suggested, last of which to leave was *Sensei’s Divining Top.* *Mana Tithe* is the only potential Counter Spell worth considering (and sided for now). There are no great Draw Cards or Engines in Mono White that are compact enough to fit/work well with this list (Mentor included). Teshar *relies* on the Graveyard, no way around that, so we feed the beast. *Basalt Monolith* is a big piggy bank for late game *or* if *Mesmeric Orb* is out from a previous turn a WinCon. The ratio of “Cards Valuable in Graveyard” far outweigh those “In Hand”/“In Deck.” Milling should be the first strategy of every list, with reliable Creature answers and plenty removal to make our plans work. *Engineered Explosives* is a repeatable way to lock out a table and acts as a 0 Historic Trigger in a pinch. Also, remembering that this is indeed a Graveyard/Recursion list, at only 1 Charge we Destroy every *Gradigger’s Cage* & *Silent Gravestone.* *Chalice* is a must, absolute must for this list. Again, hold for Part Two where I will discuss much of what you brought up. -Patrick PS-*Chalice* anywhere between 1-3.

    I think blasting station and grinding station’s untap effects are treated as triggers so you can sacrifice Ornithopter to them with the etb trigger to untap it on the stack then resolve the trigger and follow it up by sacrificing myr retriever. The only thing I could find to support this was discussion on mass resurrection effects such as open the vaults.

    I actually run a lot of similar cards in my personal favorite commander, Darien King of Kjeldor. I think Darien could actually be a good addition in your 99, there's a lot of combo potential that he has given how many sac outlets and other value pieces you include in the deck. He's probably too high costed in order to ever be cEDH playable, but one can dream. He was my first ever commander, and I never get tired of playing that deck.

    It’s a bit of a do nothing outside of a combo, *Perilous Myr.* Same could be said for most of the deck... However, with with *Altar of Demnetia,* *Grinding Station,* *Blasting Station,* *Codex Shredder,* *Shriekhorn* & *Walking Ballista* this deck has more than enough win cons that work well with one another. Instead of Myr, simply loop a self-mill card like *Wand of Vertebrae* until you find Ballista and with ♾ Mana, blow out the board that way. 👌 It’s not quite what this list needs. Check out my Primer, serves a lot better at explaining the various ways this deck wins with seemingly useless Cards. Be well and Happy Brewing! -Patrick

    Wow man, between this, Neheb and Selvala you keep hitting my favourites commander! Your list is obviously very refined and thought out, and I wanted to know your opinion on why you play or not certain cards: 1) Implement of Improvement: it might not be as strong as Chromatic Star, but combined with Ironworks it nets you mana and a card; 2) Scrabbling Claws is a great graveyard hate card that happens to synergize very well with this commander; 3) Hope of Ghirapur: repetable protection worked really good for me in the past, have you found it too inconsistent? On the same note, I would like to mention Selfless Spirit as well 4) I took a page from the deceased Modern Eggs deck and play Second Sunrise and Faith's Reward, and so far I have really liked those cards; 5) Random value/comboy creatures and artifacts: Glint Hawk, Kor Skyfisher, Grand Abolisher, Scarecrone (this might feel odd to you, but I really like this card), Filigree Familiar, Auriok Salvagers, Ichor Wellspring, Mycosinth Wellspring, Wall of Omens, Mentor o the Meek, Fiend Hunter and Skullclamp; 6) you are playing Engineered Exlosive and Chalice of the Void in your list: aren't they a bit too much self-desruptive (expecially chalice) for you to play? Lastly, I see you have already included the might Ranger-Captain of Eos from Moder Horizon, and I can't agree more with you on this choice. Do you think Vesperlark (the new baby Reveillark) will deserve a spot as well?

  • @LocalGameGroup

    Love your thumbnail, one of my favorite MTG arts. Gonna start there, haha. Also, I’ll be answering these questions (and more) tomorrow w/Part Two, but! ... 1. I’ve played Improvement and had used it in an initial build. The deck deflates without a sac outlet and that card was ultimately removed for it. I will admit, *unlimited draw* is pretty tight though. 2. Another one that was in the list initially... I love it. For the most part, I’ve migrated almost nearly all to Mill Strategy/Combos, but Conch could be replaced for Claws again. I love the synergy with Conch & (all) Mill Cards, but it is a flex spot. 3. Hope was taken out as well... Too slow. Generally, Orim’s Chant & Silence have proven valuable enough a form of protection. If anything else, Abeyance may go in. If Hope didn’t have to Attack first, it’d be worlds better. 4. No Comment 🤷‍♂️ Haven’t run these. I prefer a lower CMC. 5. I’ll talk on a majority of these, however... Auriok is horribly inconsistent here. It’s 4cmc (not Teshar-able), not tutor-able and functions most highly with LED. We don’t want to take a turn to hard cast him. 6. I talk on these extensively: they are must includes. Engineered for 1 removes all the Grafdigger Cages/Silent Gravestones we’ll be combating & Chalice is going to eliminate any Counters or stop other Deck plans. Remember, Teshar is a *Graveyard/Recursion* Deck. We can let our Myr Retriever get countered by this and shrug it off just fine. 7. Vesperlark! Love it. Not sure there’s any meaningful combo here with the Lark, at least not within my list, but it does have a few targets. However, too few to be of any real value. Ranger-Captain, Prismatic Vista are in so far... We’ll see what else gets release. Scrapyard Recombiner may make the cut as well.

    So, at 18:12, it's not really necessary to have another 0-cost artifact to continue the loop. You can just wait until Memnite enters the battlefield, putting the untap trigger of Grinding Station on the stack, then in response sacrifice Memnite to Grinding Station. Station untaps from the previous trigger and you can use it to sacrifice Workshop Assistant, getting back your Memnite. This still mills the opponents out which should be good enough, right?

  • @LocalGameGroup

    @LocalGameGroup

    5 жыл бұрын

    This is true. Netting Infinite Generic isn’t quite necessary for the Mill element of *Grinding Station* to come into effect, as you can always grind that Artifact away while the Trigger is on the stack and then Untap away. Very true. 👌 I usually try to get as much as I can out of it. -Patrick

    I talk about Grave hate in the Primer. Did you look over the list? There are plenty of cards I’m not using because there aren’t enough *Grafdigger Cage’s* to stop me. So far, hasn’t been a *Silent Gravestone* I didn’t break. Give the list a thorough look next time. 👌 -Patrick

    The 99 the list is VERY linear, if you really win with this deck, find a bigger pond, no offense

    Part of Deck building, in concerns to this format, is understanding the Commander’s strength. Leveraging it fully. This list is geared towards that. What would you suggest adding alternatively to make it stronger? I prefer a conversation, not empty criticism. I *personally* want to provide folks the *best* versions of their favorite Decks, so if you think you can help with that I’m all ears (eyes). -Patrick

    The rewards section is enough, no need for “rewards?”, can easily cut the worship section by half. Not enough removal to stop other decks, only decent stax suite, have 0 need for dropping cards straight into graveyards, and card draw would be nice

    There’s building to a commanders forte and then there’s overlying on its ability, really recommend a plan b that doesn’t need Teshar to win
