The kaals, also know as, the building block of this art of warfare, is a summation of various rigorous kicks and leg movements that not only enhance the skill set of an artist but also conditions the body at another level.
And this is why the lesson in kaals forms the 'beginning to kalaripayattu '
Sooji kaal :
Sooji, meaning 'needle'; kaal, meaning 'leg'
Hence, the concept behind this advanced kick movement is to sit with both legs stretched apart in such a manner that even a thing as thin as a needle also shouldn't pass through the gap between the stance and ground.
This leg raise is indisputably one of the best and unique creations of this martial art.
It is the Kalari way of opening up the splits - which is the basic requirement for all the martial artists

Guruji I am a left hand oriented person. While doing various Vadivu my left arm stays behind the right arm which is not right as you had mentioned. So, Guruji what should I do in this case? I practiced and somehow made the left hand to stay before but still then I feel a bit uncomfortable...... And Guruji we are very much grateful for the divine knowledge that you are imparting to us😊.

This might get you to laughing...I have studyed "Kung Fu" for over 43 years. I thought that since I am 6 foot tall (1.8288 meters), I wouldn't have to stretch. Then my Shifu taught me Chinese stretches about 20 years into my training 😱. I made a big mistake on not doing stretching. 😀 Usually in "Kung Fu" you can tell if someone is attacking you. In Kalari I have come to the conclusion that if they move...WATCH FOR THE ATTACK ! 😀 I bow in respect to your Masters.

Yes i have practiced this and after doing this certain excersice you become flexible and strong enough and your reflex also build which will help you in fight i have experience d that reflex . Kalari have many styles and many locking technique marma attack which will defeat your enemy in second's

Did u mean northern style kalaripayattu and southern style kalaripayattu... its 2 style of kalaripayattu... one is northern kerala style means vadakan style its an aggressive style in malayalam pulliangam means tiger fight, fight with weapons .. another is southern kerala style means thekkan style its defensive style mainly fight without weapons ...
