This video helped our family cut the cord almost 4 years ago. We were paying over $180 a month for cable and internet. We switched to an internet only plan and started saving some money to help us pay for the new vehicles we had to get. Thanks CCN.

I got my senior aged parents to cut the cord in Oct 2019! biggest factor was my mom wanting to cut costs, they were paying over $200/month for bundled service. My dad didn't understand the concept of streaming live TV at first and was ambivalent, but in one week he and mom were able to adapt. They don't miss the cable box at all now, in fact they enjoy all the possible content available. They use KZread TV along with other streaming services with roku devices. Moved their phone line to Magic Jack since they didn't want to lose their land line number.

mrguystarr honestly KZread tv in my opinion is the closest thing to cable that you can get out of a streaming service.

We cut the cord a year+ ago. Went with KZreadTV. Been very pleased with what they offer for the price. This month they hit their customers with a 30% price increase. Figure that in the next year or two will be looking to cut the cord with them.

I cut the cord!!!!! I'm Saving $1450 a year! Don't miss cable at all !!! I pay less $50 on wifi with another company. I have an Atenna 45 Free channels. No when i see my bill of less $50 I feel so good. I used have done it a long time ago

I LOVE Pluto tv on my maxi pad (Apple Airpad 2). It's the best thing ever for what i do. Just like broadcast tv in the good old days (before it went digital and died). I have only one small problem with Pluto. On Weather Nation, Channel 150, it has captions on. I touched the little icon for subtitles in the top right and it PRETENDS to let me turn it off, but it still shows the captions. Is this a bug or there is something else I need to do? All good wishes.

"Cutting the cord" is NOT expensive. I spent $685 for EVERYTHING I needed; a one-time-expense: 1. large outdoor antenna = $200 2. pre-amp - $65 3. 100' coax = $20 4. powered 4-way splitter = $35 5. 4-channel DVR - $230 6. 2 high-speed desktop switches = $30 7. 3 4K Fire Sticks = $75 7. extra 9' mast = $30 My cable TV bill was about $130/mo. I have added PHILO TV app to add the balance of channels I want @$20/mo. So, after less than 7 months, I'm saving $110 a month. So, I just put all of the items on a separate credit card and paid $110 a month on that card. It was a new card, so I had no interest for the first 6 months. That's NOT expensive. That IS a GREAT savings. Just saying...

When the transition to digital over-the-air TV occurred, I lost most of my locals. Even the ones I still got, the reception was very sporatic...the picture might start to pixilate, and then I'd lose everything for a minute or two. Weather conditions remain a problem, and forget it when a plane flies overhead. I truly long for the days of analog TV. Much better over-the-air experience.

Trying to get a roof antenna installed is brutal. I live in a condo with no attic. Very high roof. I’ve had two people out from home advisor and both had excuses for not doing it. A roof antenna is really the best way. There are over forty channels available over the air in my area but some I cannot get unless I get the antenna up and out. Frustrating!

I tried many antennas and finally settled on the Mohu brand for over the air stations. The Mohu leaf has a range of 30 to 50 miles in my area. I hope this helps you.

My TV is on the opposite wall from the window. Do the antennas have to be on the window. If so, do I need a long cord?

Which device for recording over the air channels, has multiple simultaneous channel capabilities and is the easiest to use?

Yesterday I subscribed to KZread TV, my first streaming service for live TV. I have been using DirecTV for years. I have a surround sound 5.1 system and noticed a much worse audio from KZread TV on live broadcasts. Essentially, I only get two channel stereo which means that there is very little bass in the sound as it doesn't even use the center speaker much less the subwoofer. I didn't expect sound from the rear speakers, but the sound is really quite "thin". Is there a solution? This could be a deal breaker.

I really like Pluto, but on all 3 of my Roku's, the channel I pick to watch will suddenly change to another channel. If I go back to what I was watching, a few mintues later, it repeats. Doesnt matter what channel I'm on, it will always suddenly change to another channel which makes Pluto unwatchable. Any fix yet as I see from online posts that this issue has been effecting roku devices for many months now?

So cable like comcast service is a must have...youtubeTV does NOT have internet or provide access to basic internet service...right? KZreadTV offers only added content, correct?

Hi Marlene and thanks for the question! So KZread TV, like other live TV streaming services, offer channel lineups similar to those of traditional cable packages like Comcast, but sent to you via the internet. So you wouldn't need Comcast's cable TV service to receive KZread TV. However, Comcast also offers internet service (along with its cable TV offerings), and if they're also your internet provider, you'd need one of their internet plans - though it might be worth looking to see if other internet providers are available in your area. I finally cut the cord, went with KZread TV, they offered three months of $20 off. Just got billed full price and can't reach anyone!!!!! So frustrating when I had other options to go with.

@@CordCuttersNews .....Unfortunately when I asked Cablevision (Bronx) how much is the cost of internet only they quote d $144.85. Their sales pitch was that the plan I have $112.65 is a special! My household doesn't watch regular TV or have a landline phone! So they have us by the balls.

I'm thinking about using an antenna again (used one a few years ago) but the stations are at the outer range (50 - 60 miles) so an antenna must be top flight and outside on a mast. Also note that a live channel guide is lacking.

load the TV Guide app on your phone, it works great, all you do is enter your location or zip code in the app.

Roku's live streaming channels have a channel guide very similar to the cable guide. When you add your antenna, Roku will intermix and integrate all your ove-the-air channels into the channel guide, so that both are displayed in the same place.

Cord cutting is like netflix and hulu, not sling and other cable companies that are through the web?

The trouble is the cable system is charging us more for the internet. Raises there price often

What other things do i need for a stick? Also dunno if a fire stick or a roku would be better.

@Scott WigginsI have always used firestix and side load the apks, but at Christmas Roku was like $15. each so my question is, are the apk's for the firestix the same ones you side load on Roku and if not is there a specific KZreadr you subscribe to and like? Thanks in advance!

Firestick has a better user view. It also continously shows small clips to suggest shows to watch. Roku, you hav to sorta know what you want and start an app or search for the show.

I have KZread tv after 20 years of directv. Cutting the cord was the best thing I ever did. I’m saving $80/month on my bill. I’m not calculating my internet into my costs cause I already had that bill when I had Dtv and WiFi is free, isn’t it?

Bobby King I had Direct TV and I hate them! My ex subscribed to DTV, but ended up passing away before his initial 2 year contract was up. Would you believe that they charged him $80 for not fulfilling his contract?? I'm the executor of his estate, so I have to pay the early termination fee! Talk about a greedy and heartless company!!!

@@kdavis114 Did you speak to someone "higher up" the chain of command? Always ask to speak to their supervisor, if they dont satisfy you, ask for their supervisor. If after speaking to ALL the bosses tell them you are not paying for it and hang up. Then DON'T pay it. I would fight them with everything I had before I would pay them. You can bet if it went to court no judge would make his estate pay. But that is just me, I would spend 500 not to pay a 80 bill for the principle of it!

What do you think about the KZread video tutorials where dude somehow rigs a tv antenna (like bunny ears) in front of a used satellite dish? Is that a real thing that works?

Not very well. ANY antenna picks up SOME channels. But, if you want the BEST reception, just put up an outside antenna - sized by your distance from your local antenna cluster. You'll be much more satisfied that way.

Isn't Sinclair also the owner of Fox Regional Sports Network? I'm looking for someone other than KZread TV that has Fox Regional Sports Networks. KZread TV is missing some channels that PS Vue had that I miss and so does my 94 year old, bedridden mother in law such as Hallmark, DIY, History, etc.

What one in your opinion is the best

Yes you need to have internet service to use streaming services

Just listened to your video, I bought three atennas just to test, and of course I was amazed but held on to my cable as well as having a smart tv...……...so my question is your suggestions as to streaming only concern me as the streaming speed is not able to handle some videos on utube, will this be a problem...………..streaming speed? so otherwise the cheap common atenanna brings in only the local cbs,nbc,pbs etc. which was astounding as I spent 4000 on direct tv with century link and comcast on the other house which is 200 per mo. direct tv being 150.00 so its all too expensive...as I am a good watcher...I do like the cable channels...so my question is explain that you are encouraging streaming which is thru the internet...…..yes u have control...…….but u need to explain the speed..and of course u need the internet provider u never mentioned this in your video...……...u make it seem all u need to buy is the very good antenna...………….not the necessity of cable or satellite for the INTERNET...………….this gives the

I got rid of direct tv about 4 months ago . been using.antenna ..I would like to have audiance music .but it's saying it's direct tv only . I would like to get a small.bumdle.for streaming audiance music without paying.125.00 a month

My internet bill ALONE is approaching 90 bucks a month. If i can't get enough stuff on the free services on line, I will just revert to antenna totally and fall asleep watching judge Judy.

@@morenoglager I would try to figure out just how much wifi you use. Why pay for more than what you actually use. I also would see other ways you can cut the cost down on your bill. Example, Comcast Xfinity you have an option to rent the equipment or buy your own. That's 11-13 bucks. Next up I would see if they have internet only plans. I asked Comcast and they told me they don't have those in my area. Which is not true. But a way to keep me subscribing to their TV service.

Also I would figure out which service Netflix or Hulu do you actually want. There are free options out there for movies. I would choose one and either Netflix or Hulu but not both. But, that's just me. I've noticed that although people cut the cord they end up paying for tons of streaming services. Which just puts them back at the issues of trying to save.

I have Cogeco Cable. It sneaks up the monthly cost every 6 months. I think it is because people cut the cord and that leaves the rest of us on taking up the loss. They are over priced and cutting themselves out of a normal income market. I will be cutting the cord as I can afford a decent 75 mile omni directional antenna, around $100. I like the Tablo Quad and can put in a good size hard drive for recording, $300 + hard drive cost later as I choose a bargain. I am not a fan of Hulu and Netflix monthly charges as all TV shows are on Kodi. Free download to a PC. I am watching Man In The High Castle, The Mandalorian, (and it is NOT baby Yoda as everyone thinks it is, timelines do not match up as Yoda died in Return of the Jedi at 900 yrs old, Madalorian is much later), Jack Ryan, anything that you want is on Kodi. My Cogeco Cable bill just went up to $104 and I have had enough just to watch a few channels I watch and I pay for loads of channels I never watch.

The cost of cable is constantly increasing and there is no reason to believe that it won't continue to increase every year into the future. After my mother passed, I was handling her estate and found her first cable bill in her files. Back in 1972 the family home was in need of a new antenna that was damaged by age and a recent storm. Dad decided to finally bite the bullet and subscribe to cable rather than replacing the antenna. The 1972 cable bill was $1.27 per month.

Does anyone remember the name of the new company that uses 5G to bring Wi-Fi into your house by sticking a doohicky on your house?

You dont get KZread red you only get live TV with KZread tv

Down to about $70 a month with KZread tv and a couple add ons. Cannot complain DirecTV is way too got damn expensive for what it is.

The only way to totally cut the cord is to only use OTA and get netflix dvds sent to you. If you have an internet connection you are not really cord cutting. You can always go to the library and get dvds also.

TiVo better start adding more apps to their devices otherwise they will fall and fail.

If you are using all these paid services YOU ARE NOT CORD CUTTING!!!! Cord cutter is free services You cannot get HBO ,Showtime ,ESPN etc doesn’t allow you access to the services They refer you back to the cable company You have too buy a buy box for every tv Please do more research your are not giving good advice

Not a choice I need the cable TV package to have internet 500Mbit fiber optic unlimited, TV, Phone and 2 Mobile Phones also unlimited for 62 €. Only internet will cost me 30 € with lower speeds. No TV available only 4 channels emitted on air.

Why do people say cut the cord when you obviously need it for streaming.....!

Getting ready to cut my mother over with a new TV for her she is being screwed by directv. She signed a contract with DTV about 3-4 years ago the guy installed junky boxes didn't even have a HDMI plug on them he connects them using the yellow video cable and red and white audio cables. Were talking about 35 year old technology the sound and video is terrible even though she has a 47" 1080P Samsung TV. They claimed at the time she would have to pay for an upgraded box its all about money with DTV to get min service out of them. She is used to DTV I looked for a streaming service I was shocked that they have no software for smart TV's except a few. If they want to go out of business I guess they will.

Wow. 20 minutes later it still did not answer the core question: how to cut the cable cord!! That $100 a month for cable includes the cost of the internet - needed to stream all those services - and is actually the bulk of my bill (I pay less than $30 for the actual TV part - not much different than your cheapest option). So how do you 'cut your cable' and still have internet access? That is what I would love to know. I've searched 'forever' for an option to my cable - but none is less expensive with comparable speeds. My area has 3 players: cable, dish, or dsl - and I'm not in a rural area. All of them are about the same in price - but I'd certainly never go back to slow dsl (FiOS isn't offered and even if it was it isn't cheap). Not sure how dish works - but it's still a monthly fee that is similar to cable and is probably more prone to atmospheric conditions. This should have been titled '20 minutes of options to watching tv'. Personally, I could probably live without tv - but I definitely need access to the internet - as we all do. So that would be a great video to help us less technically inclined folks.
