People pay to go to school, seminars and courses just to learn these things. I am absolutely grateful to listen to this for free in the comfort of my bedroom. God Bless all of you up there giving out these resources. I feel so confident after taking in this information. I believe I can write a book, skip the traditional and be successful. Thanks

As a book lover I don't think the actual physical book will go away anytime soon. I love to read, I love books (real books), I'm one of those guys that loves the smell of old pages, and volumes on a book shelf.

This panel was very helpful. This is valuable information that I'm sure I can refer back to when needed. This is the kind of information you would be charged for to get. I have four poetry books, a do-it-yourself book and a book about my journeys though life, that I would like to publish. I'm also a songwriter and a musician. Just this video alone, can help me in so many ways. You guys are wonderful, to share so much important information. God bless you all.

Self publishing used to be a dirty word because publishers used to control the media environment surrounding publishing. Then the internet and social media happened. :)

Fantastic information, but don't rush out and "quit the day job!" Matt did a great job introducing the traditional publishing route, saying that "the agent is the gatekeeper." Good info on royalties via self publishing vs. traditional publishing. Great panel with great information on the world of self-publishing. Now I am a little less depressed :) I have three manuscripts to publish and get into the hands of children. Lightning Source/Ingram and Create Space are sounding pretty good to me right now. Thanks for this info.

This has been such a blessing seeing this video. It has opened my eyes to so many wonderful ideals and a better understanding of publishing as a first time author. Thank you so much to everyone on this panel. You have helped me in more ways than you could ever know. Thank you for sharing all this wonderful information with us. Sharon

Great and much needed video. For years I could never get any publisher to read a submission of one of my books. Eventually I started to self publish with kindle and I've never been happier ever since. There is nothing like freedom. I will soon start to publish paper books with any of the platforms suggested here. Oddly enough now if Random House or any other big or small commercial publisher would offer me a billion pounds, let alone a million, for publishing any of my books with them I would reject their offer straight away. Done with them. They are useless to unpublished writers, they only want big names and celebrities. In fact I don't even buy anymore any of their books, most of them are hyped up rubbish anyway.

Wow, this is really informative, I had no idea that publishing companies took such a large cut, but they look down on self published books as if it is not as credible being a self published author

Thank you sincerely for this video. I had already intended on self-publishing with Kindle, but was still tempted to try traditional publishing. As what Wes said, being a control-freak and rather impatient I'm glad to know with 15% royalties, it is by no means the right path for me. So thank you again, I learned a lot!
