A Bad Day Just Kept Getting Worse

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I got a call about a jeep on top of the Cliffhanger Trail with a broken balljoint eliminator. It was later in the day so I told them if they had a ride out the best thing to do was to go in the morning to get it out. It needed a part out of the factory steering knuckle to fix it so we pulled that part out of the wrecked jeep in the back yard to use... However once up on the trail I realized I had forgot it. So we had to do a trail repair to get it to drive out. Halfway back down the scrambler lost the front driveline due to a failed u joint. So we pulled the driveline and kept going down the trail. We had to help the scrambler up a couple obstacles at the end to get to the main road. Once on the main road we decided to pick up the customers jeep and carry it to the shop so no further damage would be done to the knuckle. Once we hit the pavement Shawn flashed his lights and flagged me down saying the passenger rear tires on the wrecker were wobbling. We pulled the outer dual to tighten the lug nuts and found 5 out of the 8 studs had sheared off. So we sent Shawn to go get the gooseneck and we loaded Trailmater and the customers rig on the trailer and took them to the shop. The lug studs were so loose we used Ol Blue to carry Trailmater into the shop. So we all jumped on both rigs and with Robby Layton and Hillbilly helping we got the customers rig back together and the wrecker back together. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I drove Seismograph Drill Buggies ( Skidders ) for 30 years Cross Country drilling Shot Points doing Oil Exploration. We had two Buggies as a set, one being the Drill and the other one hauled the water for drilling and the explosives we loaded in Shot Points when drilled. The Points were 380 feet apart and you had to try and be on that exact mark which was sometimes impossible due to the terrain. We had rollovers and got stuck more times than I could count but we always got the equipment out .proving Miracles do sometimes happen. Watching you guys bring back many similar moments when you just think it can't get no worse but it does. So I can sympathize with what you are saying. I enjoy the show and appreciate the honesty of what you guys do.

Perfect storms are rare,..you got yours out of the way,..sunny days to come! I’m still in the middle of mine fighting for custody of my daughters,..but I know the sun has to come out someday,..my daughters ARE my sun and light so it’s comming,..soon I pray. You guys pushed through the struggle , stumbling block after stumbling block and finished the day, great example I needed to be reminded of today. Thankyou.

Rory, after a day like that you're entitled to at least a few shots of your favorite beverage, turn your phone off and enjoy a good night's sleep. Over that "road" I'm surprised you didn't break more.

Bad days are your shining moment. That's when your ability to adapt and overcome any situation really shows. This is the real world and only a select few have the abilities you and your crew do.

You say this wasn't a 'shining moment' day. I beg to differ! I would say this defines a 'shining moment' day of overcoming adversity, through adaptability and perseverance.. Also, loved the outro!

I don't care how many people build their ultimate off road wrecker, there is, and only ever be, one Trail Mater, ands ditto one only Rory Irish. Fantastic work team.

I think it's fairly well known to at least most of the viewers that every day at work doesnt always go to plan. That's why this is one of my favourite channels. It's a few humble guys who have mastered their craft showing the reality of things......mind you, to me it still looked like a good day. Everything got recovered with no big breakage and most importantly there were no injuries. You guys operate in a VERY hostile environment so the odds are stacked pretty high against you. The little bit of breakage to your rigs just only shows what the other "shows" dont show.

Like the positive attitude during a very stressful day. On days like that it is wonderful to have work-mates that understand and know how much give-and-take is needed to get past it. Always remember, without the not-so-good days, we would not know when we are having a good day. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Rory, Everone has a bad day once in awhile ! Considering all the possible pitfalls you deal with every time you go on a recovery, I think you are doing great. Watching you and trail mater do what you do, almost always causes a gasp somewhere in the adventure. Keep on Keepin on man.

Rory, your dedication to your craft is rare, let alone to the fact that you’re actually good at it…. With utter humility and willful determination you always find a way. You don’t seem to realize it but, you are creating something awesome and we are grateful you share it.🤙💚🤜

What a day. I can't believe how hard that country is. I feel that I would have trouble walking that trail. With everything that broke or went off the play book, Rory at least, avoided the indignity of being recovered by the client.
