    I thought this video may help some folks considering adding a supercharger to their vette. Please let me know your thoughts, and which supercharger brand you prefer and why. Thanks for watching!

    The A&A supercharger is a definite game changer. For anyone considering it, just be aware that once the boost comes in (mine hits just above 2k RPM), you should expect to lose traction regardless of the tires you run. A 3rd gear highway hit on my z51 w/ a stage 5 RPM built car breaks traction at 160 mph. I’m running 305 888s on ZR1 wheels. I’ll be adding some rear aero to hopefully keep the rear end planted. A&A is the real deal. The only way to describe the car is VIOLENT. Make sure you know what you’re getting into, and you’ll never look back.

    Great job explaining your whole process and thoughts and research on the A&A Corvette centrifugal supercharger kit for your ride, the kits involved that you did your research on, life with the performance upgrade on your sweet ride, and the great HP gains that you got. Thank you! I am in your same predicament now, and basically did everything you did, I even have those damn Nitto Invo tires that you had too! Crap! They already told me to get the Nitto NT05R tires. I am in the process of having the A&A kit installed in their shop with their CARB compliant V2 SI Trim head unit, 50mm Raceport valve, 3” High capacity radiator, etc., and tuned at their shop. It will be finished this next week! I have a 2012 Grand Sport w a manual transmission (MGW shifter box/short throw shifter, 23k miles on car, original owner. I previously had a Cam Motion mild cam, Trick Flow pushrods, Beehive springs, K&N CAI, plus a complete cat back Borla exhaust system with a great tune on the car. You do get used to the power after a while and you want more. During this process this past week, an issue came up that slowed down this whole process, the cam that I had in the car now had to be removed and changed back to either a stock LS3 camshaft, a LS7, or an LS9 camshaft in order to tune the car into CARB compliance with A&A’s supercharger kit. A new CARB rule just got passed in July 2021, where the smog guys as part of the bi yearly smog checks, will check to see if there is an ECU tune on the car. If your car does not have a factory tune, or a CARB approved tune, the car fails the test. Always something in Kalifornia. So, we had to order another camshaft to continue on with the build. We chose the LS9 camshaft which is on the ZR1. It arrived the next day. Now, I will have a CARB compliant car that will have a nice upgrade in power and be a lot of fun to drive and play with! I can hardly wait!

    Super helpful video, thanks mate! I felt the same way when I went from euro cars to vette. I slowly went up the power progress in BMW, z3, then z4, then m3, then m6. M6 was great (had the v10) but it lacked torque and modifying it was impossibly expensive. Picked up the C6 and was instantly impressed even with the stock power. Didn't last too long before I wanted more but atleast on these cars its affordable. Cammed with supporting mods, it is running super strong but looking forward to the next jump. Awesome vids though, you got another subscriber out of me. oh great looking valve covers btw.

    Thank you. I'm glad you found the information helpful. Before I upgraded mine, I was searching for feedback and watched as many vids as I could find since it was such a big investment. The valve covers were hydro dipped by a local guy Brian here in Ft Lauderdale. www.showtimecustomsfla.com/gallery He does live feeds while he doing the process so you can watch your pieces get dipped. It was cool to see. I had my valve covers done and my center console and gauge bezel done too. The dark carbon fiber looks good with the black interior. Its subtle, not gaudy. I think it makes a big difference. Thanks again and good luck.

    Hi Mike, Thank you for watching the video. By no means am I an expert, but from what I have heard a Z is a better HCI car, and can probably get to similar power levels of a boosted LS2/LS3. If you do decide to boost it, I would make sure the heads are done(which you should anyway if they are not already), and keep in at 8 lbs or below. Lots of guys have boosted Z's with great success. The theory is, the LS7 block has thinner cylinder walls because of the larger displacement. Too much boost has caused some to crack. Again, I'm no expert, just stating what I have heard and seen on forums. I've seen lots of pics of cracked cylinder walls. I've also seen lots of boosted guys with no issues. If you do boost it, you will be smiling from ear to ear (unless something breaks). Mine still makes me smile after many years of ownership. Nothing broken yet. Good luck with what ever you decide.

    @Mean Green Machine Project / Soflo_ZR1X hey thanks for the response. I agree with everything you are saying. I have a set of AHP heads on my car now, so that potential issue is hopefully taken care of. I also know the Z isn't the ideal boost candidate, but there are a couple things steering me away from a full HCI build. I think to hit 600whp, you are running quite an aggressive camshaft that will have tradeoffs to drivability and general livability that I don't want to make. I'm at 500 whp now with bolt ons and ported heads, and think I can easily clear 650whp with the Ti system while keeping boost levels fairly low. I plan to run a meth kit as a safety measure, rather than a way to push the power as well. I think this can be achieved at low boost, maybe 6 lbs. It's still a bit of a risk, but I think anything is when you start modding. I appreciate your comments. I don't recall from the video, did you upgrade your clutch at the same time? Thanks.

    What kinda longevity is expected? With proper maintenance, of course. Well over 100k miles ? I would also take a 8 hour drive couple times a year. Probably average just under 10k miles a year. I'd like to keep my vette for at least 10 years. She's a 2012 GS 3LT. Thanks

  • @kdsgarage8475

    @kdsgarage8475

    2 жыл бұрын

    It should last just as long as stock if everything is maintained properly and you have a good tune. I have heard some of the other kits causing some overheating issues. I went with the A&A kit because of the better intercooler and bracket system. We have taken a few long drives to Key West in Florida heat and didn't have any issues. That's about a 4 hour drive for us. The centrifugal supercharger builds boost as the RPM's climb. If you are just cruising and keep it under 3k RPM, its like your driving the car stock. My boost overcomes the vacuum just under 3k - maybe at 2750 RPM with a 3.4 (aggressive) pulley. Getting a good tune is key to longevity. People ask me why I only make 573 with my setup. Its because I asked my tuner to keep in conservative so I don't destroy the car. I was mostly concerned with the notorious weak 05 diff, but I have not had any problems in the 3-4 years I've had the blower.

    This A&A set up could easily make 650-750. There are plenty of guys out there that are making that. This is how I chose to have it set up by my tuner. Reason being... My car is an 05 Auto. Its got a weaker driveline than later models and I wasn't ready to drop another 10k into a built trans and diff. Especially after spending near that on the blower and headers. Once I do replace the driveline, I will turn it up. A&A is better than procharger for many reasons. Procharger makes blowers for just about every car. A one size fits most approach. They are known to have belt alignment issues, shredded belts, overheating, etc. I've had this blower on my car for 5 years now, and never had a single issue. I live in south FL where its HOT. My car runs right where it should temp wise. My second choice after A&A would be ECS, but never procharger.
