A 3 Watch Collection for Less Than ONE Rolex Submariner | Watchfinder & Co.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
As much as we’d all love to, the harsh truth is that many of us don’t have the kind of money to put down all at once on a Rolex Submariner. At £7,150-if you’re lucky-it’s evolved away from being the budget tool watch for the masses to a full-on, exclusive luxury purchase. It’s hard to believe Rolex used to make a non-chronometer version of the Submariner so it was even more affordable. Well, let me tell you that you can still get a fine watch for the price a Submariner was ten years ago. In fact, here are three that, combined, cost less than what you’d pay for one today.

Baume et Mercier Hampton 10528

LOVE that you’re featuring Baume et Mercier!! Longines and Oris are also brands with beautiful offerings at reasonable prices.
Baume&mercier offer a great variety of timepieces I do fancy the Clifton.
I've had a Baume & Mercier Classima Executive GMT since roughly 2010 and it's been absolutely wonderful. It's very sharp looking, can pull off dressy or casual, and has proven to be EXTREMELY durable. I've worn it nearly every day for the last twelve years and it barely has a scratch on it, and hasn't been in for a service once. I've just had to change the strap a couple of times. It's fantastic. I also have an Omega and a Tudor, but the Baume has gotten the most wear because of its versatility. Totally underappreciated brand.
"Neither champagne, nor shampooing the dog..." -- that's 100% of my days -- so I am going to get the Baumatic.

I love watches and have for all of my five and a half decades on the planet. As a recent subscriber, I am thrilled to have found your channel. I must say the writing is quite creative and the narration is simply superb. The videography is stunning and i love the attention given to the entire production. Watching and listening to your videos transports the viewer to a more civilized and refined time when appearance mattered and efforts were made, unlike today's sad comfort at all costs, t-shirt and shorts, "eh, it's good enough" norm. Thank you for the insight into each watchmaker's history as well. I look forward to each notification of a new video.

Ditto this is my favorite watch channel! I too am 58 years young and loved watches since I was 12.. I have 2 B&M squares 1 18k and 1 SS left to me from my father. Also fortunate to own 2 subs circa 2005 and a oyster quartz, speedy pro moonwatch, 5 or more Casio squares metal and plastic, Cartier roadster, longines..gmt, Paneri 1312 and a sinn 104 . Again I love this channel.
I've loved the writing in these videos for a long time, but I've been particularly enjoying it for the last few weeks. Major respect to whoever puts these scripts together!
As the owner of a Sub and several other Rolexes, you have made me ruminate about my horological journey. I'm beginning to feel like Roberto De Vicenzo after the 1968 Masters. Brilliant video.
All these 3 B&M's are exceptional dress watches. Especially, the Clifton. It is special!
"The default choice isn't the best option for everyone", this lad has incredible insights.
I like Rolexes but I hate the repositioning as an elite object (including the artificial scarcity). A Rolex is a high quality object, but it does not have the impeccable finishing of, say, a Grand Seiko at a similar price point. At the end of the day, Rolexes are mass-produced. Not worth the inflated prices imo.
@bighands69
4 жыл бұрын
You cannot compare a Rolex sports watch to a Seiko and claim it is inferior because of finishing. It is like Claiming a Porsche 911 has inferior finishing to a Bentley but is he same or greater in price. Everything is mass produced unless you are paying $500,000 for the watch. There is not one watch manufacturer who sells production level watches that are not mass produced.

Beautiful watches but then I'm a little biased I own a Clifton Club Shelby Daytona Coupe Chronograph limited edition. Just great companion when I'm out driving or going to some auto themed event. I'm glad to see you giving Baume&Mercier some love they deserve it.
I'm confused. I fell in love with the first watch featured, the Hampton 10528 Yet I can not find it on your site. Nor on the Baume et Mercier site either. Please explain. Thank you, Keith
Damn! The hampton probably is the best Tank alternative. Also it would be my pick out of the 3.
The last one is the absolute stunner, I'm really thinking of getting the last one the movement and the looks and the 5 days blows my mind for that price
Now I know why you / watchfinder are among my favorites - simply because you are super good at finding some watches that you do not see every day - and then because you have good style and know what good design is
Baume & Mercier - my first Swiss watch and one of my most beloved! Class apart in its price range!
I love not only all the watches, but also the excellent literary texts and the style of the presentation over the years. Thanks a lot!
Rolex is a superficial status symbol, not a watch. The grass in always greener for a Rolex until you buy one then you realize you overpaid. Then you have to justify it by thinking of it as an investment. It's a watch not a stock. An overpriced watch.

Thanks for the video. The three timepieces makes for an excellent collection! 👍
Excellent choices from the Baume & Mercier collection. I like the Baumatic best, followed by the Hampton.
My 3 watch collection is a Casio A168WA, a Seiko Sup 880, and a Bulova Super Seville and I’m happy with them for the foreseeable future. All 3 watches have an extra strap that i can swap them too if the occasion calls for it. One day I’d love to own a Rolex perpetual explorer however.
"It shows that it pays to look around and do your research .. because the default choice isn't always the best for everyone" ... well said sir ... well said indeed.
Well done. While I am unable to afford any luxury timepieces, Baume and Mercier really hasn't been on my list of watches to consider once I get to that point. This video has changed that.
Wow. I had no idea that Baume & Mercier had such great watches! The Baumatic is exceptionally beautiful!
Really nice review ! Thanks 🙏🏻 My favourite is the blue Clifton Baumatic 😍
I love the blue Clifton Baumatic, but it is very difficult to find in Sydney.
I can't find anything on this channel about an Oris Artelier calibre 111, 112 or 113. I know they aren't new but are these watches worth reviewing?
Hi, I recently bought a new GS Snowflake for $5,760. I think that was a pretty good deal, do you know if this particular model appreciates with age or looses it's value after it is worn?
Baume & Mercier watches are not that often reviewed and it is very plaisant to see it on this channel! Awesome review for an awesome watch brand, thank you!

Rolex has many gorgeous time pieces and I do agree that prices have gotten a bit out of hand. My recommendation is if you are looking for luxury, look beyond to Omega, Tudor, Ball, Longines, Oris, and many others. They all offer amazing and unique time pieces for great prices.
Your commentary did not go unnoticed, great job.
Baume and Mercier is amazing. Saving for it from now

My wife gave me a baume et mercier chronograph from the 40's and it's easily one of my favorites, both sentimentality and practically.
Nice to see some love for B and M. The Clifton line does not get enough attention. My daily is a Clifton Calendar Chrono, punches well above its weight.
The script has extra zing this time, well done. It’s quite a nice trio.
Thank you for having Baume & Mercier on your show 👌
Very nice offerings. B&M and Hamilton are my favorite brands at this pricepoint.

I own a B & M Hampton for years. Mine is an automatic has a nice silver dial and a small second. It’s a great watch and looks great.
Is the moon phase Clifton’s croc strap interchangeable to cow’s leather?
I have two of their Hampton’s and still enjoy them after more than a decade of ownership.

Relating so hard with this comment . I’m in the market for my next watch and I was hesitating between Tudor royal , riviera, tank and navitimer . Riviera is just so much more beautiful is also give the discreet luxury image of baume . People who know watches , know baume
I have a Rolex submariner from 1988 the only Rolex I have but almost never wear it my vintage collection are mostly watches from the 50’s and 60’s brands Zenith and Cyma these watches when serviced are amazing the two golden decades of watch making !
I just watched Intolerable Cruelty last night and wondered what George Clooney was wearing. As it happens I believe it was the Hampton in the video but in black. Absolutely insane coincidence
That Hampton is extremely handsome. A solid and somewhat more interesting alternative to a Cartier Tank Solo.
Can you please review watches by Sinn Spezialuhren. I don’t see a lot reviews of this watch brand on KZread, and I’m really curious about their history. Hearing it from you in particular :)
My first 'luxury' watch was a B&M. Still love it
Interesting selections, with an interesting premise. Wore a Submariner for about a decade, sold it, don't miss it, and I won't be buying another. The Rolex hype is on the verge of ridiculous, if it's not already surpassed that threshold.

Very nice selections here!
The Baumatic (watch no.3) looks so classy and elegant. Wish I could afford one...
I don't like rectangular wathces but this Baume & Mericier isn't that bad. It's well presented and good ticking minute clock inside so it beautifies the design. But I still like the round watches because they make for some really fascinating designs. I should look out for this brand more within your channel.
Watching and owning are different pleasures in life. I mostly watch these days. Thx WF for an unexpected surprise!
3:30 - very nice shot. Camera skills level +++
How many watchmakers are there in Geneva, Switzerland?
I must say, those are three very nice looking B&M's, especially the first one. I'm impressed.
The Clifton Baumatic is the prettiest watch of its type this side if a JLC True Second. I like it better personally as the date aperture isn’t framed and you can appreciate the tight tolerance between the dial and date wheel as on all Baume & Mercier. The Hampton is classically elegant. That Clifton Club is a charmer. I love my Clifton Baumatic, Hampton and Classima. People often overlook that Baume & Mercier is a favorite of the British Royal Family
I must say, that the attention to detail on these is pretty good. Only 1 blemish I saw on a hand which you definitely won't see unmagnified.
Fun! Do one for Longines. I'd nominate the Master Worldtimer, 1967 Diver Chrono and the Heritage 1945. Throw in a Hydroconquest as a daily.
Please make a Video about Sinn Diving Watches!
I think if you need a 3 watch collection sticking to one brand would seem something of an advertisement, personally - Tudor black Bay 58, Longines Heritage classic sector dial, Hamilton Pilot Pioneer works for me for 3

Nice video concept. However... Even at these "less than Rolex" prices, it's about time for major brands to color-match their dates wheels. If microbrands like Halios and Armida can do it, so too can established players.
