It's the first folding phone I'd really like to buy and use, if it was cheaper. It has all the functions of a standard phone, if you use its outer screen, and, if needed, feel free to use that giant inner screen. The point is that outer screen here is not for "hey, it's something small and supposed to be used as temporary backup", but it's just a giant normal one. Good job, Huawei.

yeah, but honestly I think the folding form will just be an intermittent generation to rollable phones that look more slick and futuristic as if it's form factor just increases and decreases out of no where. Interestingly the company that made the first very capable one didn't put it up as a product; merely as a prototype. I think they aren't ready yet to roll it out and want to prevent the same mistakes the first gen of foldable did. Even so, I wouldn't want a foldable just yet because they are expensive and if something happens, trying to find a replacement part even something like a cover or a screen is searching for a needle in a haystack, never mind it's extremely expensive.

@@xstongames4778 Yes but Huawei's first foldable (screen was on the outside of the fold) was a completely different design compared to Samsung's first fold (screen was on the inside of the fold). You can trace the latest Samsung zFold 3 back through the releases all the way back to its ancestor (The fold) whereas you can trace this huawei back only to a Samsung zfold 2 and not the Mate X

PSYCHO the Samsung single deep gutter is the one that’s been show in use to be less reliable. It’s a more aggressive bend to the screen material, which increases the stress on that flex point which causes breakage.

This is the first folding phone I would consider. Looks amazing and I am impressed by surviving the test. 3k$ tho and being huawei without google means not a chance sadly :(

harder material isn't always better. it would make it more brittle. like the ceramic phone years ago, i think it scratch at level 9 or something, but shatters easily.
