Thanks for coaxing a procrastinator into action. You're voice is the perfect companion. By the end of your video I felt as though I had painted the picture... ;)
The illusion of complexity with using simple confidence. Illuminating and revelatory to watch. Which I do. Again and again and again. Thanks 😊
The person criticizing you does not know what she or he is talking about. The addressed should have been an abstract painter, who in most of the case have no idea about technics, blocking, values, etc..But for unknown reasons these painters earn a load of money. I have sold pictures like that, I am not proud of that at all. Now I have to work on my technic. Mr. Stuart Davies,s technic is brilliant, and not a simple paint spreading as is the case while doing abstract pictures. The reason is, in the end, we have a steady, reality like composition, with atmosphere, light, undergrowth, forest, woods, what most of the contemporary painters have no idea how to do.
The 57 thumbs down are from people who work for companies that make expensive brushes.
How fun that I got to see you paint this in person and can attest to the fact that you did it in 20 some minutes.
I really like these more tonal paintings that aren't so bright and colorful. The whipping is my favorite part :D
Ignore the person who says your style is not art. I judge art based on the effect the end result has on the viewer. If it draws any kind of strong emotion then I consider it art. I may not even particularly like it but it is still art. Yours is certainly art! The emotion I feel most when viewing your finished products is serenity, perhaps my favorite emotion.
That is absolutely incredible! When you pull the camera back at the end and see all the implied detail in the painting, it’s truly amazing!
Mr. Davies, I'm here in America, enjoying all your videos and artwork. I love your work and ability to teach! Thank you for the courage to create that I've found after watching you!
Wow, how freeing to watch you paint and to know that I could be as free with painting landscapes. I was raised with a very traditional portrait artist and watching my mother paint was very intimidating because she is so good and I felt I would never be able to do that so I never tried. Now I feel like coming out of my shell and exploring my own talents. Thank you for the video and explanation.
Stuart - thank you for demonstrating your style of painting. Your work is masterful. It has greatly inspired me.
I learn so much watching your videos and they do look like old masters. !! Beautiful Stuart x
Thank you for your inspiration and for sharing it. I've been watching a lot of different artists deciding on what methods to use here in Arizona. I've had the canvas and paint for months but still haven't attempted my first, while I can appreciate many different artists styles and methods I really enjoy your work!. God Bless !!!
I love the way you paint and talk it through, great skill Stuart. Love it!
super loose and effective painting , loved it , and the commentary , has a look of some of the old masters ,
Being able to create from nothing and seeing images appear is a real gift. Personally I find it easier and more enjoyable to go where the painting leads me. I was told I’m an intuitive artist because of my ability to create from what I see and feel from the paint. Even though our painting styles are different, I think the general idea behind the way we create is the same, we’re both intuitive artist. I really enjoy watching you create.
Always blown away by the fantastic paintings you bring to life with only a few colors. Thanks for sharing, Stuart!
Completely amazing! I can't wait to try this style of painting. I love the relaxed, no mistakes attitude of the tutorial and Stuart Davies voice. Thank you!
amazing , love watching you create....... please don't stop. you are an inspiration. thank you
I love this! So far, I intend to copy your underpainting because I’m struggling to come up with my own. Underpainting is really difficult but I know this is how I will improve my painting and I will continue to practice. You already know, I love all your paintings ❤️
A mutual friend of ours told me to take a look at your work and WOW I LOVE IT. I'm just starting out in retirement so will be watching you this evening. Got my paints out ready.
Wonderful.
Love all of your videos I watch them when I study and they are very satisfying and relaxing!
Just stunning trees and grass! Even zoomed in, all that texture is so amazing. I can't imagine that it is possible to get such a result with a thin brush. I can't even put into words how grateful I am to have come across your videos and creations thanks to the internet. Thank you so much for sharing all of this!
Stewart, your sketches are my finished work. Thank you for all the priceless lessons.
so clever - to make this look like it is just a quick sketch - the artist must have an excellent grounding in pure art
Stuart I love to watch you paint . You make it look so easy , but of course we know it isn't. Have a Blessed Day.

Citizen............ , now there speaks someone who does'nt understand the journey. I've painted and sculpted in bronze for 45 years and still , STILL , find it tough to believe. Experience is what separates and encourages progression..
Love the way you apply and remove paint! Thank you for sharing your wonderful methods of work. Learned a thing or two to say the least! Very nice painting with an amazing limited palette.
This was fascinating they way you created so much depth! Love it!
Staurt, I am lucky I found your tutorials, love your style of painting. You make it so simple and yet so amazing. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I enjoyed the session, it's meditative when I watch you at work. I love the fact that you demonstrate in a very loose manner inviting the viewer into your process. I have been inspired by your approach ( I'm not a landscape painter but do more abstract work) and this has opened another way to experiment with oils using larger brushes. Thanks for the videos and continuing presentations.
These 'sketches' of yours, Stuart, are as close to actual miracles as I can ever imagine seeing - it is like magic, beauty appear from nothing (almost) in front of my very eyes.
I absolutely love this Stuart,it’s the 3rd time I’ve watched it.🤓❤️❤️❤️
Your joke about being precise never gets old, I laugh every time. Thank you for you videos and kind instruction
I'm not an artist but I do paint. Your relaxed freedom with you brush and knife is a revelation, freeing.
HOW GRAND! Can't wait to try this technique. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Stuart. Great to watch and love your technique as usual.
simply incredible thanks for the inspiration
I genuinely do love what you paint , Your technique is brilliant. If they don't like your painting , Show them your copy of The girl with the pearl earring, Its exceptionally hard to copy . I actually have a copy of this painting and your copy of the original is amazing. We can all see you know exactly what you are doing. Love it .
Another video I thoroughly enjoyed.. you’ve really inspired me to use your technique , and it’s really satisfying. Thank you again for your teaching and commentary
Stuart...this is a wonderful video!! I so look forward to each one. Thank you so much!❤️❤️❤️😊🎨👩🎨
Love this way of painting... I’ve been doing this for a while now but never seen it done anywhere except here recently. Beginners always apply too much heavy paint in bold colours. This way allows you to be light and airy and more importantly it is forgiving in many ways, allows you to see the whole picture and get loose. Much more real to boot.

Dennis Sheehan. Master of this "TONALIST" technique. It was a movement in the Staes calling themselves the "Tonalism Movement. Innes a chief exponent. Dennis is well worth a look to.
Loving your videos, Stuart. Big fan of your style of painting. Thanks or sharing.
I love how you chuck paint onto the canvas! You are an amazing artist!!
i love your work and ability very much, thank you Mr STUART
Incredibly done! Thank you!
Absolutely stunning! Wish I were going to France next year so I could take one of your classes. I find your technique deceptively simple and somewhat meditative. Love it! Will definitely try my hand at it.
I am just hypnotised.Love watching you
Always enjoy watching these demos
your art is absolutely stunning and incredibly inspiring.
It’s fun to watch you work. I usually start all my landscapes in a similar way, but layer on more and more detail. Your work inspires a looser approach that I look forward to incorporating in my next landscape! Illusion and suggestion using methods other than brushes are tools I want to employ, so thanks!
I’m really fascinated by your explanation of each touch of rag brush finger n just your mind thoughts are grt I believe this was the first one that I caught of yours ,n I revisit often to refresh in truthful art I’ve been involved watching trying push pull n wipe like you for over a yr now n I’m still trying thanks for acknowledgment OH howz Tiger Lilly you said you’d include in next video,,Well maybe I missed

I love this painting, love watching you , its fascinates me and i am going to experiment with your way of painting , definately good for loosen up. Only about 2 weeks ago I kind of stumbled on your videos on youtube, now I am hooked. Did my first painting and was able to integrate some of your teachings into the way I painted up till now.
Thank you Stuart, for showing a really good technique for sketching , wonderful end result, and demonstrated in a relaxed manner.
STUNNING AS USUAL!!!!
Beautiful, you go at a good teaching pace. I love the grass idea, and all the paper towel tricks . I will have to try this out. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your expertise . I just found your channel and it is a treasure trove of techniques , awesome commentary, and sound advice for anyone interested in learning how to paint landscapes in oil. I truly want to thank you for sharing what you have learned with me. Sincerely your newest subscriber, . Anna
This is amazing, and quite beautiful. I would look at this and think the artist painstakingly tool hours to place each detail. It's organic and just beautiful. 😊
Amazing as always!
Love your paintings and the amazing way you do them 👍
Thank you Stuart. I'm very new to painting (watercolors) , but when uninspired or frustration sets in I like to dabble in oils or other media and find it refreshing. All you say can be applied to other media as well as oils. Thanks again.
Thank you for getting me going with oils .love your technique.really freed me up
So worth watching.
Another great video. Learn a lot and enjoy your art but also love your humor. Thank you.
It was very informative and helpful. Thank you so much.
Just discovered you and your videos today... Already watched 4. I'm learning to paint.... watching and listening to you make me feel that I can truly learn. I like the way you do your sky. Thank you for great videos.
I really like your painting style..I got shot on duty and was out for a year before I went back to work. during that year out, I started oil painting and loved it. But then i went back to work and the painting went by the wayside. I'm now retired and decided to start painting again. I've been trying acrylic and I'm having trouble with it. So I was going back to oil's. Then I saw your site and loved it, so now I'm going to pull out some of the first ones I did and redo them where the sky was too blue, and the tree's and grass too green, etc. You've given me a lot of idea's to try. Thank You Stuart.. BTW I'm in Florida, USA
You have a wonderful way of teaching along with the gift of painting. Well done.
I’ve been subscribed for a while but your videos weren’t being shown in my feed so I ended up forgetting about your channel for a little while. All of a sudden I remembered and I got super excited when I looked up your channel and found that you had posted some new videos! I love these because they are so nice and calming to watch and a bit of a breath of fresh air compared to most KZread videos! :)
Thank you for sharing your process. I am truly inspired by this method of loose and relaxed painting.
I love your paintings! Beautiful!
I kept wanting to say, "stop! It's great as it is!"
Dear Mr. Stuart It's just amazing to watch you paint with such ease and it's extremely surprising for me when I see you paint the sky with such dark colours yet give such an excellent result with your blending techniques. You are surely a joy to watch. How I wish I could up and leave here to take your classes of 5 days! Maybe some day .. when time and money permits. Thank you with all my heart for your lovely tutorials on the video.Every day , when I come back from my busy schedule of being the head of a school.. your videos give me such a respite from my tiredness.. thank you again.
Love this painting. Love everything
Love your work. So helpful and inspiring. Thanks 😊 so much 💓
To say the least I’m impressed with what you do with one brush and two pigments. After watching this video several times I’m almost at the point where I’m getting up the nerve to try it myself !
I feel like there is two major art styles. 1add small amounts at a time until it looks right 2 add a lot and take away till it looks right
I like your way of making the fast sketch painting and a sample touches with toile paper . It is fantastic 👍 . All your art work are injoignable

Great tonal quality again, so many ways you could go with it
I’m absolutely loving your work. I’m retired now and have taken up painting- currently struggling with watercolour. I haven’t tried oils, but you are inspirational . Thank you so much.

Your videos are incredibly engaging and so helpful! I am in the US and would love to come to your class in France. As soon as Covid is cleared up. Until then I look forward to more videos. Your painting techniques are awesome!

I am so happy to have discovered you and your videos! I have actually begun painting again after a too long inability to get started. Your skies inspire me to be free and not concern myself with others opinions and comparisons of how I once painted. It’s FUN again! Thank you for enriching my life.
