@Mr. Hole i think CRAMs are more for anti missiles and anti air than engaging other naval vessels. Besides, if a ship has CRAMs im sure as hell it will have anti ship missiles to take out any water threats before it even gets within range of the CRAMs

On a US Navy ship it is called CIWS or close in weapon system. Shoots 4k rounds a min, has its own infrared and radar and tracks its own bullets to correct trajectory. They can shoot mortars and missiles out of the sky, not sure why this plane is giving this CRAM such a hard time...

That doesn't matters. No A10 can fire its gun as long as in this game. She would just fall out of the sky from the massive force onto the plane. Have some looks on real videos. When an A10 fires the gun, the speed reduces rapidly. That is the reason they can only fire short bursts. ;)

If you throw many bullets at something, at very fast speed, its bound to hit it. -Inventor of CIWS and CRAMs I'm impressed that none of the A-10s that crashed into the ground went therminal velocity and went to space. Arma works in strange ways.

That's actually giving the warthog a run for its money.

So it's just tracer fire. Thats sick. A-10 got hit a couple of times. Amazing

I’m actually a radar technicians for this the portion of this system you can’t see called K2 designed by Raytheon. Raytheon builds the gun however they are two different programs that support the hardware. But for a minute I thought this was real also.

The slowness is its advantage. It can linger around an area that much longer than a regular fighter bomber which zooms by in an instant. I've had first hand experience of these things saving our asses on the ground. Those guns are so fast, you see and hear the rounds hit thr ground and decimate anything in its path before you can process wtf just happened. The small sonic booms comes next followed by the infamous " BBRRrrrrrrRrrRŔRRRTTTTTTTTT". After all that, then you hear the distinct engine sound of the A-10. Like a small business jet going about its "business".

Got to love the virtual endless supply of AMMO... the phalanx is good for about 10 seconds of AMMO before it needs to be reloaded... and an A-10 could have easily dropped a GBU-12 or JDAM from 30,000 feet without the phalanx radar system ever knowing what hit it.

@@steelirony1622 They can TRY to shoot down arty. There isn't a defense system yet built that can handle 5-6 rounds incoming. As to the A10 vs AA, it would depend who hit the other first. Both systems have roughtly the same range, same lethality and roughly the same rate of fire. The A10 is built tougher than a CWIS and could take a few hits, the CIWS by comparison is fragile and can't take a hit. The A10 is also armed with missiles that have a longer range than the CWIS can shoot. If we're playing top trump the A10 wins.

The thing to keep in mind is that the warthog has a chance of taking out the CIWS in the initial attack. However the likelihood of a military asset having only 1 of these onsite and readily tracking is not good. Warthog would have to contend with multiple CIWS systems which would mean no going home

So realistic it's even featured in the news as actual footage.

Well not really... 1.there is no way in hell an A-10 is so strong against these bullets. 2.the barrel from the ground target would just simply melt even from shooting 8 seconds in a row. 3.the bullets would run out soooo quick 4. It will never be 1 A-10 and 1 ground unit 😂there will be always a whole fleet of them

@@UncleTequila Yeah, the drum holds 1500 rounds, after a few seconds of firing they're all gone. The C RAM is actually my job right now. I love these videos but they're far from realistic if you look at all the missing details, granted graphics and sound are very realistic.

The Hog must go high directly above , and rain hell straight down ! The lead can only go so high . Trust me it works.

Wow for the first minute I thought this was a real battle video or training exercise, but then the warthog got shot a few too many times and I was thinking who ever is filming this has some huge balls of steel to just stand there while getting shot at by a warthog. Still its a great video to watch.

Imagine this with armor piercing rounds against land forces.

🙋‍♂️Who got woken up a few too many times at Camp Anaconda by the C-RAM/Phalanx(whatever it was). Crazy sound to hear, especialy when it detonates a mortar.

Wow that was Arma 3. I really thought this was a real military training exercise.

I'm glad to have work on the phalanxes program. Originally for warships. - General Dynamics.

You know that A-10 equipped with armor pilot tub..and evades by chaffing ( good maneuver ) !!

Oh, come on!! Even the A-10 can't be hit that many times and still fly!!
