On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Thank you for taking the time to learn how to fly the A-10. It was a nice change to see you going for ground targets. 😃
Try to keep more distance. You will see it will be a lot easier. Around 10MN is a good start distance. In the moment you are at the minimum distance for the MAV. The best is to fly parallel along the front line and switch between left and right side, to engage all the time.

Was going to point this out as well, the tank at the 7:30 mark he's off target because he fires two mavs under minimum range. Also, he should use china hat forward long to have the mav auto-slew to the SPI rather than trying to manually swing it all the way over. Still great to see some A-10 and CAS love on the channel!

Its a good point about how Air-To-Ground seems simple, but has a ton of nuance that makes it challenging. I've heard from actual A-10 drivers that they think a big reason the ground troops love the A-10 so much isn't just the capabilities of the planes themselves, but the expertise of the A-10 pilots in CAS. The A-10 has its special quirks for sure (BRRRRT), but pretty much every fighter in the US inventory can deliver bombs, JDAMs, LGBs, Mavericks, rocket pods, etc. But when its an F-16 or F/A-18 or something, you've got a pilot who splits their training time between the many different roles those planes fill. They've got anti-air missions they need to be ready for too, and even within the broader realm of ground attack, its not just CAS, there's also SEAD, strategic strikes, etc. When its an A-10, that pilot is training not just for ground attack, but almost exclusively for CAS in particular. So when ground troops call for CAS, if its an A-10 answering, that ordinance often gets delivered faster and more accurately.

It'd be interesting to hear if A-10 pilots who transition to other platforms lose that air-to-mud/CAS expertise or not.

f16 do a lot of cas, if not the most, JDAM/gbu 12 can be dropped quite well, fast jets on station fast. f16 can deploy maves as well
With the mavericks, try to always aim at the wheels or the base of the target. The maverick basically locks onto coordinates. If there is any altitude (meaning you lock onto the top of the target) maverick locks onto the coordinates behind the target, on the ground. The targeting line of the missile always locks onto the ground. So if you aim at the top of the target, the targeting line passes through the target to the ground behind it.
Oh man, your first weapon drop. big no-no dropping over the heads of friendly's. always 90 degrees off to the side... just in case the weapon falls short. Love your stuff! keep it up!! Super entertaining.

@@GrowlingSidewinder AG, the main task is the target and not to hit any of your own forces - or civilians - and to waste as few weapons as possible. In practice, a single attack will be coordinated multiple times with the troops on the ground. When the attack starts, the guys on the ground know and stick their heads in the sand :-). You don't spend too much time circling over the combat area in search of targets. In practice, the targets are defined by the ground forces, coordinated several times and then quickly in and quickly out. Nice Vid i love the chanel and i like toe see more AG. :-)
I like it, do some more A10 vids. Gun runs, etc. Setup some good stories for our guys who served in the GWOT.
Love it! More of this. It's cool that you are sharing with us unfamiliar DCS experiences. I love the A10 is just slow, but thanks to you I'm going to have to get back in it again
that point of interest camera is so stable and satisfying
Nice change of pace with the CAS video

5:10 "I didn't just blow up somebody's house" Yep nothing to see here, carry on! 😂
"oh, they hit the wing... A-10 doesn't care...." LOL!
Fantastic video. The A/G stuff is interesting in its own right, and I'd enjoy seeing more of it.
Greatly appreciated the mix of day/night with ground attack on this video. Fell in love with the A-10 when I was a little kid and saw a demo flight at the Cleveland Air Show back in the late 70's.
Thanks. Really enjoyed that. Years ago when DCS first came out the plane selection was quite limited and, as I recall, one of the few was the A10. I looked forward to flying it, but I did I soon discovered that it was VERY complicated. My hat is off to ya.
I'm digging this type of content. Would love to see more! Also the shifting between evening and night was very entertaining, would be interesting to see a shift from night to dawn too. Anyway love your stuff man, really great work. Keep it up!
Don't know if it's just me, but I really enjoyed this CAS video... It's always cool to see something new. Awesome!
I absolutely love to see A-10 content, great job :) Looking forward to the next one
man growling I have to hand it to ya, you had me hooked the entire 19 minutes, just love your content. After I graduate get a job and get decent hardware to hop on DCS, I really hope I get to fly with you mate, cheers :)
Waiting for the new F-4E Phantom II of HeartBlue, I'cant wait see you flying this model, Greetings from a Venezuelan from Chile!!! 🇨🇱🇻🇪😀
Living near an ANG base with A-10’s, I love this bird. I did already, but I’m more than happy to see you showing it off, as many folks think it’s old, outdated, and not worth keeping airworthy. Thank you.
HILAROUS my friend. I laughed when you accidently hit the house full of vipers. I saw the target square kind of pull away in what I THOUGHT, was an effort to give the viewer a better perspective on the targets demise and the vipers with him. We hope. I forgot to mention what a great idea you had, to incorporate this very cool perspective in your flying repertoire.
Really enjoyed this one! Looking forward to seeing more of this!
Nice seeing some A/G from you - the A10 was my starting point for DCS back in the days :-).
I freaking love it when you do mission type flying. Air to ground. Air to Air.See you on the next one Boss.
This was awesome! I hope we get to see more of this.
That was really cool to watch. Thanks for posting it.
Loving the BRRRRRT, and seeing you do CAS for a change is always nice, hoping to see more man!
appreciate the air to ground videos, keep it going!
It must be a very impressive and scary moment to have an A 10 circling overhead like a hawk looking for prey. In the Bundeswehr, we had once practiced on a training ground with TPZ Fuchs armored transport vehicles when a group of A10s began using us as training targets. The warthogs' agility and speed alone were terrifying. In an emergency, they would have made kitchen colanders out of our armored transport vehicles.😬
Awesome content! I’d love to see some more external cam perspectives in future CAS videos
Really loving these types of videos! Keep it up!

Excellent video. Thank you!
The warthog actually is a single engine aircraft, half an engine on each side.
Love flying this thing. It's a lot to learn, but so fun when you do. I personally almost always use CCRP. Less exciting, but all you have to do is steer and hold the button. SAM hunting with mavericks is particularly good fun.
Dude when the line of bullets hit the ground it’s like a loud slap and boom it sounds crazy like all that metal impacting the ground all at once is wild
Would love to see more of these different senarios! Keep it up
“The A-10 doesn’t care…” should be on a t-shirt.
Well, during your dogfights you show cut-scenes where the enemy shoots at you (from his perspective) and you show how the enemy get hits by you. Here I missed these cut-scenes.

For me it's different, done enough sims for 30 years that I know what I'm seeing, when I see it, and don't need to be shown in 10x flashbacks at different angles. Which is why it's a good thing he uploads so often, there's something for all of us 😊
Thanks for doing a A/G video!
just a little hint, if you bind your tgp-slew to an axle, it will be more precice, don´t use digital inputs for it, makes your day/night harder^^ great video, as someone mentioned, you didn´t use the a-10 in a while. if you have the c-2 version of it, you also can use the helmet mounted display, which makes life for you in the a-10 so much easier^^ but i guess, you know that already. ^^
GS that was cool, more close air support missions!!!!!
Now I know how A-10 shoot from sky precisely. Great video.
Hell yeah man nice to see some A-10 CAS action on your channel^^ get more distants with the GAU-8 for more precision and ya get proper kills :) hope to see more with this beautifull aircraft.
Ahaha this was posted as I was watching an a-10a at a airshow, great flying!
As slow as the A10 play moves it's insanely satisfying. Please more ground stuff interspersed in the future
Loving this channel. It’s just sad my old man won’t get the chance he would have loved it. 👍🏻

That was a nice change of pace.
This was awesome, definitely more of this content would be apprect
Love to see you getting into some Hawg A-G! A little tip that helped me when I was learning was to set your TGP to WHOT. It allows you to identify targets faster and gives the TGP and Mav a better image to guide with!

GS over here committing war crimes and making us complicit. Seriously though, your ability to make complex processes understandable to the layman is a skill. Thanks for the great content.
Very nice ground work....well done...carry on.

Air to Ground videos are the best! More of these with different planes 😊
Awesome work showing off the capabilities of the A-10 in today’s modern combat theatres.
He treats it like an easter egg hunt which I love. Just scavenges around until he finds something and takes it (or takes its life).
MORE OF THIS I LOVED IT!!
Worked the Hog for 5 years as a weapons puke, best job in the Air Force! Got to see and do a lot of cool stuff! If you're good you can load 1150 rounds in about 10 min...it comes out way faster than it goes in! Thanks for taking the Hog for a spin!
Gowen Air Force Base in Boise Idaho is home to a squadron of A10 Warthogs. Love seeing these things fly.
Very interesting to see the difference in temperament and skill between air-to-air and air-to-ground.
Digging the vids Keep em coming!
Love the a-10 video, would love to see more. Pilsung.
I definetely enjoyed!
Love DCS A-10 content!

Ground pounding was always my favorite in IL2 great battles. Loved certain configurations of the fw190 cus i had a good payload and could still dogfight well, also p38, p47. I really need to get into DCS and the warthog
Please do more A-10 content like this; would love to see the cut scenes of the targets getting annihilated from the bombs, mavericks and 30 mil!!! Need that Brrrt!
A-10 videos are some of my favorites 😎
I wanted such type type of video. Many thanks to GS.
The real advantage of air to ground is getting the gun experience and learning what it needs in terms of time and lead. Does help a bit in a dog fight with the big 30mm.
It's a treat to wake up to see a GS a10 video
This is what I wanted to see more of.
That video seemed like it was a lot of fun.
Maverick once said “it’s not the plane, but the pilot that makes the difference” should get an guy who is a casual dcs player to simulate the amount of time North Korean pilots get in an su57 against you in an f-14
Great content as always. Especially been a fan of your recent night time fly outs, and was wondering if perhaps you could take out the F-35 in one of these coalition scenarios; it think it would be pretty fun to see what Fat Amy can do in her realm of expertise

That's the great thing about the A-10, it can just loop around and ruin people's day ;) I enjoyed the dusk/night time frame. I was always the kid glued to the window when I had to fly commercial at night ;D I'm far from a kid nowadays lol

Love to see the A-10 in action! I've spent way too many hours simming this thing in "tedious" mode. >_
F22: My plane has a badass gun A10: My gun has a badass plane F22: *suprised pikachu*
May be tedious, but still cool as heck to watch.
Air to ground operations are nice! :)
Imagine you’re a T-55 crew just kinda sitting through the night. It’s dark, you can’t see much of anything. A little while ago some freaking big bombs hit the tree line nearby, but whatever it was seems to have passed you by. Suddenly a couple hundred 30 mm rounds come raining on your head from out of the darkness😂
5:00 Call it a Raytheon problem, not a you problem! As far as your tactics, the only thing I want to stress is this. A-10 was envisioned to NEVER have to overfly a position with any kind of air defense, that is why the GAU-8 was chambered in 30mm. If you look at the old training videos, the Thunderbolt II (Warthog) fires the gun and IMMEDIATELY break turns. So that you never do the most dangerous thing in air to mud, overfly your target area. It's what took down the majority of Tactical Air Command's jets in Korea and Vietnam. A-10 was designed to make it unnecessary, with the gun and the T.V. guided Mavericks. Overfly your target... A-10 designers roll over in their graves.
