both sleds are awesome. I wish that polaris would provide a base model that is cheaper than 16,000. they are begining to price themselves out of the market, or the snowmobile market is in an unsustainable place. Either way people cant afford 25,000 dollar snowmobiles, and as tight as things are getting to be our community built around snowmobiles will only suffer

I hear ya on the overall sled prices….things are getting more and more specialized which is causing even greater increases to the MSRP. Who knows where it’s headed 🤷‍♂️

100% agree with you about remembering the suck. The days that stick out are the ones that were just a couple times in a lifetime epic conditions or ones that have some misery involved.

Doing a hard sell on the 9r at corporate. On the mountain empirical evidence and real world says it's over priced for the return. I do appreciate the channel and the how to ride videos. I realize how you feed your family so...good luck sir!

The channel hasn’t broke even….not even close…but someday. I feed my family with a small retail shop and continuously kicking my own butt with my riding clinics as well as my summer sealcoat company. As far as pricing there isn’t an OEM in any industry that’s making things affordable…just is what it is I guess. Sleds are unreal expensive but I’m not in any way in control of that. Great video and agree. Should have both and I am lucky to be one of those guys. 9r pro 165 and 155 khaos boost… 2 great tools in the box, totally different sleds but both have their own niche.

Love the vids! I am just really getting into sledding and your videos have helped me develop this year as a rider immensely! I had a really tough time with deciding on a snow check. I am currently on a 14 M8 sno pro and was debating between the boost and 9R. As my arms already burn most days after riding and my confidence isn’t there for the boost I decided the 9R is the right sled for me! Keep up with the great media, always love the channel

Thanks Dan, great comparison. I’m going to stick with my Boost as I can use it in all conditions. I noticed that on your boost you were revving up to 8800 RPMs sometimes. I know normally we don’t want to go above 8250. I know it makes a difference if you’re going straight up pulling in deep powder, but why are you letting your sled rev so high? Thank you! Love the channel dude! Just a few comments regarding the comparison. My current steed is a boosted 850. You are absolutely correct in the fact that a turbo is exhausting and need to be an anticipating rider. The horsepower and track speed is unreal-terrifying at times. With that being said, the feel (and the sound) is addicting. There's nothing like it. Having the opportunity to get onto a 9R and play around on that thing, it felt completely different. Tremendous low-end pull but after that, the throttle is pinned in the steep and deep. A bit more challenging yes, but the fun factor was still there. You almost have to put yourself in a different mindset. If you got the ching, have both. (I don't. )Different days require different tools. These are my thoughts and feelings about the video. Probably reiterating what Dan said, but thought I'd share. Keep pumping out the videos Dan. Always enjoy getting that notification. And yes, I'm a proud subscriber. 👏 👍🤘🤙

Not mountain sleds but what do you think of the vr1 boost vs assault boost I have both but haven’t been on any assaults yet do too snow lack of

I wanna hit those climbs with you Dan ! We have a 9R 165 with MBRP can and I love it but I also have an 850 with boondocker high boost kit on 12 lbs of boost and Av-gas tune the turbo sled leaves blood blisters on my hands 😂 but both are so fun .

Are you running air shocks or coils? Is this on a Polaris sled? What is your riding weight. What track length? Boosted or N/A? There are a ton of set up questions to make a sled right for you. What I would tell you is to make sure you document each change you make so you always have a baseline to go back to while making adjustments.

There are days that I think I want a boost, most that I understand that a 9R would be a significant step up, and always that I realize that I got a great deal on the 850 pro 165 slash I have now!

Ultralight ported/head 9r for me! I mean as light as I can go! Also you should try and do a turbo 650 …. I’m flying that flag! I think it would be awesome!

I am 160+ or - pounds. I really think for most snow conditions, a 165 is unnecessary. I'd also like to say that they are really 2 completely different sleds. I own both in a 155 Khaos config., and I wouldn't buy anything else. The 9R is designed for the situations where absolute throttle response and low end torque is required(steep, technical tree riding with less than 2.5 feet of snow) The Boost is for your more than 2.75Ft. days, and really that's your thought process. I couldn't live without either. These are the 2 best sleds on the market today, maybe arguably, but I won't even discuss it with my son who is a devoted Doo Turbo R enthusiast. It's amazing to me at 65 that the old man can still hang, even if my son is the best rider I've ever personally been riding with. I think that says volumes for what Polaris has done. I love these sleds. Bryon

As for me, I have had NA sleds all my life, got a boost this year, WOW, I won’t be going back to a NA.

What's the difference between pro rmk or rmk khaos?

a khaos has steeper rails on the rear skid and a longer front shock. Gives you a lighter front end feeling so you can play easier. However they will wheelie out on you if you are in technical terrain or sidehilling.

@@chestercastle4923 to add to this in 2024 pro and khaos are almost virtually the same. The only difference now is shock length, spring weight and limiting strap. Basically hardly going to be noticeable to the normal person

Great video, but I can’t drop that kind of money on either of them, haha.

The last new sled I bought was a 2005 M7 153 for $8300. Now the sled I want, a new Khaos Slash 850 is like $18,000. Gack.

Bro, I’m on my third year into riding (still novice myself), and even the older 800’s are still impressive! An 850 is still an INCREDIBLE sled! I’ve jumped onto both a 9R and a 850 Turbo for just a couple miles each. They are impressive, but can still be a bit intimidating for me.

i ride a naturally aspirated 850 kahos 155 in Alaska and it will take me just about anywhere i want to go unless it is to steep to keep the front end down! and the shocks are so adjustable that you can significantly change the way you want to ride without any tools!

Tired of watching numerous 850s pros and summits zipping down a trail and hitting mellow hills …most would be fine on a 500 fan for the riding they do …reality is that majority of riders are not even close to riding the new sleds to their capability but want the sled that the KZreadrs ride. …imagination is a wonderful thing for the oems selling $25K - $30k sleds

just checked a 9r 22,638 and can buy boost all day long here in maine for 23k

Either of them is right not for 25 grand plus Canadian. Rode both of them not that impressive for the price.

I own a 2018 axys 800 163 since new. Wasn’t blown away by the new ones. Especially after the boost blew 2 plugs while I was demoing. The 9r was descent. Either were set up for my style. The bars were way too tall made it tough. I use a way shorter bar setup. Both sleds would’ve felt way better with my setup.

9r can’t hold a candle to a boost
