Happy Birthday!! Very cool stuff. Not for you maybe, but your helping others. My ex husband raced a late model at the races every weekend for 10 years and I learned very fast how to work on cars. I hope your birthday is great, you deserve it.

Wonder could you change that pump easier by cutting a access hole in cargo area

I like your style. I did this repair yesterday on my '00 Cherokee. Jerking off coal miner. Fuckin' hilarious. Never heard that before, but I'm certainly adding it to vocabulary. Great vid.

Could you attach a hose to the pressure purge port and suck the gas out of the tank with a small pump? (after taking the valve out of the port) I need to drop the tank in my 99 Cherokee to repair rust around the filler door.

You better have fuel hose in hand before you start cutting took me 2 weeks to get the hose for my 2001 explorer sport trac and it was a generic hose!!

I have a 97 XJ same tank and assembly. Squirrels or other rodents must have gotten to the hose as there are multiple splits and frays, spraying fluid from the fuel line hose everywhere. Does anyone know the part number for the fuel line? The clip pinch one in the video that is 6-8" long, attaching to the fuel pump unit? I've looked on summit, mopar, etc but the website says the part that looks just like it doesn't fit for my vehicle. My only google related searches I've gotten, seeing that I don't know the name of the part is 52100167AB.

Probably get a pack of the clips at the part store. Pretty much the same if I'm understanding what your asking.

@@NOBUDDYSTravels I have the clip still on and all, but I need the whole fuel line. The one where you detached from the fuel pump by pinching that said spring clip. Thx for the quick response!

@@ANDREW-nz9sf I had to go back and look at it myself again. Couldn't remember as I dont even own this pile anymore. If you cant find the part at a dealership I'd either hit the forums looking for more advice and or a part for sale... or the wrecking yard. Sorry I'm no help.

@@NOBUDDYSTravels No worries I appreciate the timely responses. I'm going to go with the 52100167AB part as I can find no other part online that matches the look and description of it than that one. Damn those squirrels haha

Aha! I figured it out. The reason I couldn't find that part for the fuel line connector is because it's technically not a part. Or rather I was looking at it as a whole part. The quick connectors are one part, and the hose is another that fits to the barbed end of the connectors where you then, apply heat to it to make it shrink tightly to them. I suppose I could find some line at any old part store. Hope this helps someone in the future.

It would be nice to have a removable panel in the rear storage area that can be bolted out to access the fuel pump without all this work.

NOBUDDYS Travels I have heard good things about the Subaru 4WD system. I am a fan of the solid front axle and I may fabricate an access panel for the fuel pump while I have it out.

@@randomcitizen2384 I hear ya. What are the chances the fuel pump will go out again while you own it though? That's why I literally just said fuck it and put it back together and got rid of it. Just did the fuel pump in my wifes Subaru last week. Took 7 minutes to replace.
