I guess the point here is one of the oldest one in the book: They do it with OTHER MEN. They point being, they don't see YOU as a man. You need to work on that part. If a woman at work is constanly parking all the way in back of the parking lot ( I park in BFE) with one space beside her car open is she trying to show me to park next to her car so we can possibly talk after work? Blood red lipstick and finger paint are great physical initial hints and markers for male attraction :) However for the 1% males that do know these subtle hints it may be largely genetically passed down imo. Even though they can be learned, mastering it on your fingertips can be difficult. Women tend to know these hints more than lame male counterpart probably due to hard wiring and genetics imo. I do know fellow males both young and old who are intelligent, that don't get these hints. ..in my humble opinion there's 1% of women who can decode Men 's..

Ok....well what if she knows I have a crush on her, we're great friends and confide in each other about everything, she has a boyfriend who demeans her and she claims is not the one for her and knows it's gonna end, and she's always telling me I'm "pretty", boosting me up and ALWAYS giving me hints or straight up blurting out things that she wants/prefers in a man and then also things that are dealbreakers. Is she just using me for that emotional validation to fill a gap or is she (knowingly or unknowingly) trying to keep me on the hook so that she can set up her next relationship? Keep in mind, she's NEVER mentioning to me specific men she finds attractive or specific men in general, she's only ever saying shit like "I don't care about talking politics with whoever I'm going to date" or "XYZ thing is a no go. I could never date a guy that's into anime." The list goes on and on, I feel like I know almost 80 percent or more of what she's looking for in a partner...it's like she's knowingly or unknowingly creating a list for me to mentally check and see if I'm ticking the boxes. But at the same time, I feel like it's inappropriate because she KNOWS I would like to date her (if she were single) through my clear interest (others can tell too and told me that they very strongly believe she knows...and I wear my heart on my sleeve...so...yeah she knows). Meanwhile, she has a boyfriend. Would a woman seriously be telling even a friend-zoned best buddy friend who she knows likes her ALL the things that a man in her life MUST have or must NOT have? And then be boosting me up saying I'm pretty and then recently saying that I look like I should be in a boy band (in a good way)? IDK. I get mixed messages and obviously am going to keep my boundaries and distance. Oh...I should add that recently I complimented her hair...and I had made a point up until now NOT to ever compliment a physical feature of hers out of a bit of insecurity that "oh my god, then she might know I like her". In any case, I felt a little weird about it afterwards because I was so assertive and forward about it for once and so I, insecurely but jokingly said to her "Hope that wasn't weird for you!" and I explained how I'd been feeling more assertive since starting a newer healthy habit and felt more confident in just speaking my mind in certain ways. She responded by saying that it wasn't weird at all that she LIKED assertiveness. Ok...so...uh...now what? To my mind that feels like a green light to be assertive more often with her about how I feel or think including if I want to compliment her in that way. But at the same time, I wasn't expecting that response, honestly, it was almost more something I wanted to get off my chest with the expectation that she might be like "Hey it's ok, I appreciate it but look we're just friends" or something along the lines of accepting the compliment but clearly signaling in a platonic/friendly way "hey, that was a little weird you nerd!". Instead I got what my mind takes as "Yes, more please". Am I misguided here? And before you say it, yes I AM overthinking this because I'm quite ADD and overthink even the smallest things in life and would be happy to pick up a random stone outside and ponder the small lifeforms living under it. Anywho, thanks if you read this. Could use some help on how to navigate this respectfully while avoiding crossing overt boundaries but still all the while me being confident, assertive, and open about what I think about her and if she's merely being nice or, because she is SUPER DUPER LOYAL, doesn't want to push things but likes the attention and what I'm giving her. I just find it extremely odd that a woman who KNOWS I'm into her but who has a boyfriend (tho she does tell me negative things about him and how he isn't treating her right and she doesn't feel seen and can't match her personality and demeans her personality and so on), would from my point of view give me a green light by telling me that ESSENTIALLY she LIKED the fact that I just complimented her physically and expressed a desire that wasn't altogether platonic frankly.
