Q: How does a GTO strategy gain EV? I wonder about the answer. Why does it have to be -EV? Doesn't GTO win even if Villain doesn't take the action with the maximum EV, e.g. Villain chooses bet which yields +10 in EV, but with a raise he would make +50? If Villain doesn't take the action with the maximum EV, does that mean GTO Hero doesn't lose as much (so is actually gaining), or am I seeing this wrong?

In a heads up pot, villain's losses are your gains! So yes you're interpreting that correctly. The one caveat is that sometimes their losses can be transferred to the rake instead of the opponent.

Hi, i got a question about MDF Q:face same bet size on flop/turn/river, our MDF shouldn't be the same, right?because MDF means villian has "0 eq bluff",but on the flop, villian rarely has "0 eq bluff",so our call ev goes down then we should defend less than MDF on flop but more closed on turn then most closed on river. Is there any misconception or misunderstaning? Ty

Thanks for asking this question. It helped me make a connection to why the bluff:value ratio of bets is generally highest on the flop and lowest on the river. So I guess MDF is most suited for river decisions when bluffs have zero equity.
