Believe it or not, the BGM of the sign-off notice was used for the GMA's station ID from 1989 to 1992.
It's been around 8 years since I heard those WLS IDs. XD
I miss this station so bad. Back in grade school, yan lagi yung radio station ng mga school bus kasi maganda yung mga tugtog nila. And diyan din nakatuned-in yung mga radios namin sa bahay. Bago sila nasira ng masa station. I hope na bumalik ulit yung old WLS-FM branding tulad ng K-Lite. :)
grabe sayang talaga #miss this radio BRINGG IT BACKKK!!!!!!!!!hahaha
John Hendrix, Triggerman, Fred James, Jimmy Jam, Braggy, Master T, Danny R & Joe Spinner. Miss you all guys! GMA please return back the original format of Campus Radio.
Hi guys! You can tune in to me at 8am onwards on The Music Of Now 97.9 Home Radio :) The Home of the Millennials!
nakakamiss Info Pop at Top 20 at 12.
In present day, they never play Lupang Hinirang (contrary on what DZBB did) when signed off during holy week which I hate it.
Meron pa palang WLS-FM, sa Chicago :) Parehas lang yung tono ng jingle ng 2 stations, pero iba ang format at frequency.
This is so nostalgic!! I miss the DJs! Sana ibalik sa dati! Top 20 at 12!!!
For me, DWLS-FM 97.1 Metro Manila ("Campus Radio") can be considered as the "de facto" successor or extension of WLS-FM 94.7 Chicago ("Music Radio") in terms of the format and jingles/ID sounds. WLS Chicago was a popular mainstream music station until 1985, but it reformatted into "talk station" 1986. And at the same year, GMA's DWLS adpoted the mainstream pop music format with OPM a few days after EDSA. That format lasted on GMA until early 2007. Both stations, owned by different comanies and not related/affiliated to each other, had also almost the same jingles as you hear in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGqr06NyhrXclqw.html
Back before they pandered to the base in 2007. I used to listen to Campus Radio in the early to mid-2000s to keep myself up to date with the latest top 40 hits of the day. Nowadays it's just hammy jokes and shallow talk that I could care little about.
Well... GMA ruined DWLS-FM at hindi bagay sa kanila ang masa format!
Nakakamiss ang Tambayan 101.9 Against the Campus Radio 97.1

...unfortunately wala na si Fred James. He's with the Lord since last year yata, or 2 years ago. If only the original LS DJs would reunite para ibalik ang dating format.
