959 Big Buck Engine

After more than 25 years in business, Buck Racing Engines has become very well-known in the PDRA ranks. In fact, what the shop is really known for are its 959 cubic inch fuel injected engines and we’re going to give you the details of that build in this episode of Engine of the Week, which is brought to you by PennGrade1, Scat Crankshafts & Elring Das Original.

That's an impressive shop to be churning out such interesting builds that they can do one of these each week. In tech school i had 6 weeks to do a build and had a second build after that for just one class grade. Lots of two-a-days at school around my shift at the dealership to make it happen. You guys have an awesome team over there and an astounding product! Keep up the great work and please keep the videos coming.

If you mean 406 sbc, yep I have one in my truck. With a forged and blueprinted crank 10.2 to 1 cr aluminum heads and intake, full roller valvetrain from comp, msd pro billet hei, doug thorley headers.....before the devorce, arp fasteners, built th400 allison torque converter, gear vendors overdrive, and all the other goodies, it hauls butt and tows great for something that was built sort of to komnifornia smog parts. It was all about staying with sbc components but getting as much torque as possible for a work truck and tow vehicle. It was a huge difference over the 1979 350 at 165hp and 265tq from the factory. It is parked now and I daily drive a 2020 fully loaded duramax with bank system and 10 speed. Oh man, I love torque.

I run a twin turbo 421 sbc with all pro super 23 degree heads the turbos is 76/78 forced inductions backed up with a turbo 3 speed transmission from rossler. It makes decent power on no prep tracks even better on front sides but it makes my 3rd gen get down the track.

They should be in work camps to pay Buck the restitution for all that they stole, and not let out till every dime is payed back! Not sure why prosecutors didnt add time for not telling where the engine are, like who they sold the stuff to..

THE BLOCK IS LOOSELY BASED ON A BIG BLOCK CHEVY. BUT YET THE REST OF THE MOTOR WITH IT'S SYMMETRICAL HEADS ARE BASED ON FORD CLEVELAND TO THE BOSS 429 DESIGNS. SO WHAT IS IT?

@@tigeroftheeye7121 EVERYTHING CHEVY USES IN RACING TODAY IS ALL FORD STUFF. DOESN'T THE LS MAKE YOU LAUGH, A REGURGITATED FORD 427 HIGH RISER AKA RAISED PORT 351 WINDSOR. NOT ONE 1 DESIGN ASPECT OF THE OLD SMALL BLOCK CHEVY LIVES IN THE LS. THE LS IS 100% BASED ON FORD DESIGNS. HOW ABOUT THAT NASCAR RO7, A FORD CLEVELAND KNOCKOFF WITH IT'S DISTRIBUTOR IN THE FRONT LIKE A FORD. HOW ABOUT YOUR DRCE - DRAG RACE COMPETITION ENGINE USED IN PROSTOCK SINCE 1983. WHICH IS NOTHING MORE THAN A BIG CUBE FORD CLEVELAND ENGINE AND THE REASON WHY FORD DOESN'T PARTICIPATE IN PROSTOCK. ALL YOUR BIG CUBIC INCH MOUNTAIN MOTORS LABELED AS CHEVY ARE ALL FORD BOSS DESIGNS. ALL YOUR SYMETRICAL HEAD RACING ENGINES LABELED AS CHEVY ARE BASED ON FORD DESIGNS FROM THE 335 SERIES, 385 SERIES AND BOSS SERIES, BUT MOSTLY OFF THE PLATFORM OF THE FORD CLEVELAND SERIES AND THIS IS WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS HIDE FROM THEIR CHEVY CLIENTELE. EVEN YOUR ZR1 DOHC ENGINE BACK IN THE LATE 1980'S WAS BUILT BY FORD WHO KEPT AND STILL OWNED 30% OF LOTUS WITH THE ENGINE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION OF LOTUS, AFTER THEY SOLD 70% TO GM WHEN FORD OWNED LOTUS UNDER A SUBSIDARY.
