Overall, the recipe is good I guess except for the raw peanut and he didn’t stir it first. Some of sambal belacan in Malaysia do put fresh tomato in it. If you guys wanna try it, do replace the tomato puree with fresh tomato to balance the taste and also to avoid fishy taste and smell. And this is more to Malay style while Sherson Lian cooking more to Chinese style.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge! We think fresh tomato would work much better, that that is a great suggestion! Tomato paste is far to punchy of a flavor and loses the delicate tomato flavor. We definitely want to try this out as well!

I personally use cherry tomatoes (6-8). I get better flavor and they support the texture better. Also cherry tomatoes don't turn to mush in the wok.

Regarding the location - this clip is from a show on British TV called Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast. Basically, the premise is that Jamie and his friend Jimmy Doherty run a cafe on Southend Pier, and they have a different celebrity guest each episode. The Greg Davies Thai green curry video was also from a different episode of the same show (and was aired in 2018 - so Uncle Roger was wrong to think it was a reaction to his video!) Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast also features other oddities such as a segment on the "Bedfordshire clanger" (a traditional regional pastry that has savoury filling at one end and sweet filling at the other, which has almost died out). I have watched far too many terrible Jamie recipes for my own good - I make my sister watch them because it annoys her so much! He is a bad chef (and as you rightly say, all his recipes are very random)

Friday night is fish night... at least among Catholics under Vatican I. It's rather why McDonalds added Filet o' Fish to the menu, to get the Catholics in. Meat was forbidden for Catholics on Fridays until 1962 though many still practice this custom. In the Americas there were things accepted as close enough to fish. There is the beaver which lives in the water and there is the capybara rat which are acceptable.

Want some flavour and spice from the Balkans - we do not hate hot food :) So what you do is you prepare a boul fill it with vinegar add some sunflower seed oil ( proportions as you like them )and a LOT LOT LOT LOT of chopped garlic and fresh parsley about 50/50 vinegar/garlic (disclaimer - use home grown garlic not the giant steroid monsters they sell at the market - they taste and smell like shit) Than take green chilly peppers (we use shipka and goat horn but i guess you can have whatever you like) you bake them you peel the skin off and cut them in the middle ( length ) and arrange them in the cup. The peppers shoud be submerged in vinegar and garlic. Chill this if you like or you can also consume it hot. You can also let it sit over night. Use it on any meat or soup or just for appetizer :) Enjoy
