RECORDED ON DECEMBER 15th 2023.
Dr. Anthony Volk is Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies, and Associate Member in the Department of Psychology at Brock University. He is a developmental scientist interested in the separate, but related, areas of bullying, parenting, personality, psychopathy, and the evolution of childhood. A strong believer in multidisciplinary studies, Prof. Volk’s overall interest is to gain an evolutionary, psychological, biological, neurological, health-based, Indigenous, cross-cultural, social, historical, and (if possible) transdisciplinary understanding of why individuals do what they do.
In this episode, we talk about bullying from an evolutionary and developmental perspective. We discuss adolescent bullying, and how it differs from bullying in other stages of life. We talk about the personality traits of bullies; the evolutionary advantages of bullying; imbalances of power; who the victims of bullying are; psychopathy and psychopathology in bullying; whether the way schools are structured contributes to bullying; when and why people intervene in bullying incidents; interventions to reduce bullying; and classroom incivility. Finally, Dr. Volk answers questions from a patron regarding life history theory.

I have had about 200 animals in my life (family owns farms), as in like, me observing animals constantly plus tons of pets. Animals bully whenever they're in a group, even 2, u put 2 together and one will immediately impose on the other

Interesting video. The lesson is: since there's no survival problems linked to being alone anymore, it's ok to be isolated rather than with asshats.

Bullying exists among both sexes, but sometimes it is more severe and cruel among females. In general, the cause of bullying is the psychological and mental problems that the bully suffers from, as he / she works to practice his psychological and mental illnesses on those who are weaker than him, whether physically weaker , less influential, less money, or... Etc. It is like a drug that gives the bully temporary euphoria. But the rule says: A healthy person does not bully those who are weaker than him. He should not bully a person with a physical or mental disability. Even during childhood, normal children naturally avoid bullying, and even when they are involved in such actions, they quickly stop doing so. Children may acquire the trait of bullying from those around them, such as parents or friends. The bottom line: In most cases, the cause of bullying is psychological and mental problems that the bully suffers from, which makes him compensate for the shortcomings by bullying those who are weaker than him. It is possible that bullying is a means of psychological influence to remove a competitor. .similar former experiences, Jealous , envy, grudges, etc could be behind bullying. In some societies, bullying is part of their social reality, and some countries use it in media and wars to arouse animal instincts against their opponents, etc.
