94-04 Mustang window motor fix without pulling the window regulator assembly

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video is a quick rundown of a common issue on Sn95-New Edge mustangs and window motors shearing the bushings inside. I did not see any info on how to remove just the motor and the details showing the inside of the motor, so I wanted to take this opportunity to film it.
Please again excuse the video quality and remember to follow on Instagram @PMperformance

    Thanks mate, it helped me a lot. I just have one complaint, I believe the pulling the rivets wasn't necessary. It does nothing with the motor, those hold the regulator up, not the motor. You only need those 3 golden bolts out. It sucked to struggle on those rivets, so I figured I'd tell you and whoever else sees this. Thank you, though.

    Thanks for posting this video. I have a 94 GT that the window was doing exactly what you said. Jerky coming down and doesn't roll all the way up. I removed the 3 bolts. Pulled out the motor, removed the cover plate and all the bushings were toast. I bought some new nylon bushing from Ace hardware for 50 cents, cleaned everything up. Greased it and boom. It's like brand new. Your video was most helpful in how to remove the motor and get the cover plate off. Thanks dude!!!!

    Great video, but you did a step that was not necessary. Reloving those two rivets on the door is not needed. Just remove the three bolts, and the motor will be able to be removed. Other than that, this helped greatly to repair both my 95 GT’s door windows. I didnt use nuts for fear if something ever blocked the window from going up, it would shatter and cost more money/time. I used what was supposed to be the factory plastic replacement. However, had to slightly modify the diameter of it to fit properly. Not a difficult fix with a dremel tool.

    The rubber bushings are like a fuse and designed to prevent injuries when an arm or neck gets stuck in the window. I agree Ford did a lousy job of designing this because most fail, but I would never suggest replacing them with nuts like you did in the video. I know you may not have kids now, but predicting what happens tomorrow is impossible including what happens after the car is sold. Its like replacing a fuse with a piece of metal and then wondering why the house burned down 2 years later. Because of the high failure, replacements are cheap and the entire assembly can be had for under $30

  • @PMPerformance

    @PMPerformance

    True but this was more of a show everyone a common failure point. Kids will never be. And selling in the future is highly unlikely. But all very valid points

    You probably bumped some of the loose bushing around and it atleast is moving the motor now. You will still need to get the motor out and take it apart. Do all those steps except for drilling out the rivet and just need to guide it out

    Not sure if anyone will see this, but I’ve got an 04 mustang and it doesn’t have the bolts to detach the motor. Whatever is holding it in seems to have been attached on the other side, and it doesn’t feel like they’re bolts I could unscrew anyway. I am totally at a loss as to how my motor is even attached. Has anyone else seen anything like that?

    carter bigelow so mine did start doing that later on as well. Many months after this fix. I had to nail the motor for it to unlock. My logic is that the flanged nuts I used were causing that. Long story short, my suggestion is doing something more rounded in place of nuts.

Once that is done run your finger around the back of the door and pop each panel plug to get the door panel loose. Then just lift the door panel up out of the window track.
