Took too long for a elderly lady. Would have used smaller rods, and cut the hair more even. Giving an easier style for her to take care of. At 92yers she can't use a curling iron, or blow dry her own hair. This is coming from an 84yrs old retired cosmetoligest. 😢

Agreed says 40+ years as a Cosmetologist. Your cut is not even and on baby fine hair all your fussing over Grey and white rods is not going to last like she is going to want. Blue and pink would have given a better base of curls...also that she would have been used to. All the stuff you put in her hair then fussed over a hair placement will not stay curled with all the straightening you did to the shape of the curl you made for 2 seconds with an iron. Roller set would have lasted longer with a better base of blue and pink. You cut then after you cut you cut...then cut. You didn't seem to have a system. Cut over here then cut over there then back over here. Where were your guides you used for the cut? You left her heavy by the occipital bone in the back...I would have left the top longer...not long but definitely longer than you left it to leave room for some reinforcing with back combing...it is thin and now short. You lost the look of curls you spent time creating by fussing with the whole head 10x longer than this lady will ever be able to do. You want to give her a quick and easy and lasting style she can manage after all you did with wimpy base of grey and white on baby fine hair and no real room to reinforce the base so the top curl can show nicely. You put in product and smoothed it while it was wet...so much for that curling iron work on her hair!!! Bye bye...lol You did not give her something with longevity. She is going to pay you because she obviously trusts you but her whole thing from perm to style is not hardy to last very long. Nothing she is going to be able to replicate herself. The elderly ladies who get perms and styles want it all to last for what we charge these days for all the effort we put in. Even if she is a weekly style client you didn't do yourself any favors with grey/white rods on fine hair. The older our client gets the finer some of the facial hair gets and they want style, lift and longevity. So she doesn't go to sleep looking great and wake up to flat hair after all your efforts. Ya know 😊

​@@suzysmith4583I was horrified at the cutting process. Too short on left side and longer on the right. Her cutting style leaves much to be desired. I trained in the late 70's- 80's. Precision cutting. Start at bottom working up. Older women just want to comb their hair and have some fullness. Too much product from my estimation and she needed to have hair longer on sides to soften her face and add fullness. Im very disappointed in the stylists today. Im 75 and cant get a decent haircut anywhere.When I asked for layers in the back close and a weight line at the crown i left with longer hair than I wanted and the layering was really what we would have done to thin the hair. Taking snips out of different areas with the tip of the scissor. I just left knowing I wasnt going back there again. I get an awesome haircut doing it myself with a Flobee! Its not the caliber of hair cutting Im familiar with anymore. So sad.

I think they realised her Hair was unable to cope with quite so much! They should have stopped at the hot brush but they lost the curls hence tongs came out hurriedly to. Make her hair look better. Poor lady hasn’t a hope in H. L of managing that look by herself at home….she was probably very pleased after thst length of time…we just feel sad knowing from our experiences it could have been donr AND looked and lasted a LOT BETTER bless her! And STILL EVEN AFTER HAIR SPRAY THEY WONT LEAVER HER ALONE! She will be going home worn out bless her! ❤️🫶💐

That was a bad cut. Too much hair in the back that it dragged...a hole on the left side. The longer she brushed and combed and pulled, I doubt she had any perm left....hope she was pleased.

Elderly hair care is just not the same as for a younger person. This stylist spent way too much time manipulating the hair post-perm with blow drying and frying it with a narrow, hot curling iron. The whole purpose of that perm was to give some wave and body to her hair. That elderly hair is brittle and will break off in a New York minute if you're not careful. Generally it has to "re-harden" for at least three days following a perm process before your next shampoo. This is where an old-fashioned roller set would have been so much easier on the client, her hair, and the stylist. It would have allowed that hair to rest and be a lot less subject to breakage. Honestly, she might have been better off to just let her new curls dry naturally and wear it combed into place for a week.

I was going to sleep watching the whole process!! Says the Cosmetologist of over 40 yrs. Unfortunately you didn't have any guides to her cut...there is no good lines to grow out. You cut cut cut her hair...pink and blue rods with a roller set and a cut allowing some of the curls you worked at to show...but smoothed out. 😢 First good wind will move all those individual hairs you fussed over to someplace else 🙄. She will not like the result in the morning since it will be mostly fluff with tons of product that didn't really amount to a hill of beans for the end result. It all took too long for something that is not going to give her style longevity with her baby fine hair.

The final result looked nice but was quite a bit longer on the right nape of her head. All that pulling of the hair after the cut wasn’t necessary. I would have put her under the dryer after hair product was put in and then style the hair. The poor little lady probably tried to brush her hair the next morning and it ended up looking dry, frizzy and straight, too much hair spray. I did hair for 35+ years and loved all my little older ladies.

@@dianewalmsley4800 me too. I am 54,but disabled now. So I'm only able to cut my families hair cuts. I was so upset for this woman. She looked so sweet. I've always loved my elders. In school I did so many shampoo and sets. I loved it and they loved me. They would roll their little dollar bills and say take this you did a good job and in school we weren't allowed to take tips, but they would try to slip me a few dollars anyway. Eventually my instructors would let us take tips, but we were closer to graduation. That was way back in 1987. Jesus I'm old. ❤

Older ladies like my mom, like to comb or brush their hait and have their thinning hair look fuller and be able to if she had done a set she would have seen she didn't leave her much length on the left side. Older women with fine hair like to put a head band on or a clip in it. She'd been better off with an Afro style for volume and fullness!

@@maureenshima9771 Maureen I'm 54, my hair is thinning bad partly genes and partly my nerves. I'm also disabled, but you are right. I'm just angry 😡 cuz she cut almost all the perm out. I've been thinking 🤔 about giving myself a perm to thicken up my hair, but I'll be damn if I'd cut my hair off especially that's taken me 15 yrs to get past my shoulders again. Like I said I used to do Ronald McDonald's wigs and he wldnt let anyone else touch his wigs, bcuz he said I did such a good job. Now that may seem to not be such a big deal, but to me it was. He always gave me a big tip. All my elderly 🧓 ladies lived my shampoo, st and comb out. I'd do light teasing where needed and may trim a little of the dead ends off. The key to be a excellent stylist is to remember "You can always take more off, but you can't out it back in" these young girls today are so damn scissor ✂ happy. JMO ❣️

There's no way this sweet lady will be able to keep this routine up.

From one stylist to another I like to teach my clients a simple style that they can do on their own.

When I was in school my favorite thing was to do shampoo and sets. My little old ladies would sit under the dryer with a smile on their face and that made me feel so good. You never cut B4 a perm, you always trim, not BUTCHER A PERM. Technically you aren't supposed to style after a perm. It's supposed to rest for a day b4 styling. In this case she used every tool in the box. Her scissors ✂ should be taken from her. If she would have worked at my shop she'd be fired. JMO! 🤦🏼‍♀️

She reminded me of my late mom ..My mom ,my sister and I all went to get our hair done .. It was the last time that she had it done ..She was 91 ... Thank you for bringing that memory back... You look beautiful

My thoughts EXACTLY!!! I was a hairdresser for years and the perm wrap after the uneven were both horrible fishhook ends, rods so off base, horrible second cut, again so off base curls, what a styling mess and brush out what curls just put in, then pick, pick, pick, leaving holes everywhere and enough spray to go through a tornado, when she slept on it,, probably a flat, stuck together, straight, frizzy mess!!! NO!!!!😢😅

She's beautiful! Love her hair color. I remember in the 60s, my grandma would always come back with the blue rinse. All the elderly did. I didn't like it. They had a nice color already. I'm glad that's not a thing now. She's fabulous.

She got a face full of hairspray a time or two. My mom had emphysema and the hair dresser would cater to her as much as possible. They'd cover her face with a shield to avoid spraying her face etc.

Mucho manotazos en el cabello, tirones enel secado y muy recortado el cabello, no era necesaeio. Pobre abuela.

The difficult issue about giving these "old lady" styles, is that they are styles that these woman have problems with duplicating them at home. Cuts need to be more practical for senior customers.

The purpose of the older hair styles from decades ago where they back combed and sculpted and designed the style was so it could easily be slight picked with a lift and it would hold for a week until the next appointment. But times change and we've gotten away from that. The new more modern schools don't teach how to do this any more.

@@deborahgharakhani710 hairstylist been doing hair for a very long time. I’ve done seniors hair all my life. The perm double end papers was 👍🏻The cut was great. I didn’t care for the way you. finished the front smaller sections zigzag parts for the rods. My clients all wanted smaller rods. They wanted perms last six months. I would put under a dryer dry their hair and finish with larger curling iron.

I’d have never used a blow dryer and curling iron on a fresh perm! She should have been wet set after with rollers and sculpted pincurls to create a more sculpted look. Hair would have looked healthier and style would last longer for her.. Too much drying hairspray was used Too many perm rods were rolled back on that top section..hair grows forward in that section and needed to be wrapped with the growth..not against. (Breakage)

Also The protective cream was nice , but the cotton needed to be removed during processing . You don’t want cotton soaked with solution sitting against the skin. So remove cotton or replace with fresh. It’s called client protection.

I was disappointed in the cut and style you did on this woman. You cut her so short that you didn't leave her the curl you put in. All she had was a cotton looking mess. And once she sleeps on it she will really have a mess You cut it in a way there was no way for her to have any waves on the sides going back or no way to keep her ears covered. On thing as you grow older your ears get larger and most women that age when they see themselves in a mirror they want their ears covered. Just disappointed for her. I know she felt better though.

So you perm her hair then cut it all off

Beautiful cutting after a perm will give her the BODY WAVE she asked for. I just retired 5 month ago, 62 years in the salon.. I miss everyday. Great job

U cut her hair too short and the style is not that great 😮

First off why did she cut her hair again after the perm? 2nd she cut it uneven. I was trained by José Eber... One of the top stylists in the business. She just keeps cutting and cutting. It was beautiful when the perm was done. Cutting ✂ more made no sense. 🤦🏼‍♀️She was cutting most of the perm off. You should perm the hair first then give a cut after to cut off any split ends and to even out the hair, but not cutting to much. This made no sense. 💔 She had to many bald spots when she got done. I'm truly disappointed in her technique. 😔

Despues de una permanente. Hay q esperar 48 horas, 2 dias, sin secadora, ni cepillo, ni tenazas. Ni tanto producto..después de 2 dias se lava ,shampoo y conditioner suave. Su aguita lila o azul, para matizar la cana y suavizarla,..despues unos rolitos electricos calientes. ..o dejarlo natural..con cremas, sedas, o mousse..este proceso con tanta cosa. Quedo seco sin brillo y amarillo..

No digo de no peinarlo y secarla.. para eso el final se seca con un difusor,..se le aplica un poquito de seda, o con unos ruleros medianos, unos 20 minutos en la secadora suave, para q no se lo lleve mojado..y una agüita lila o azul, también hay mousse con color lila. Soy estilista hace 50 años.. y mis abuelitas lindas, siempre contentas con sus permanentes..2 veces al año..❤❤❤

Für eine Zupffrisur geht man nicht zum Friseur. Die Dauerwellwickler waren nicht Fachgerecht gewickelt,die Wicklergummi klemmten dieHaare ab,dadurch Abrechnen der Haare .Viel zuviel Haarspray,mehr auf der Kopfhaut als im dünnen Haar.

I think I figured it out. Its easier to put the perm rods in longer hair. Then the actual style is done after. They are not worried how she is going to keep it up, just make it look good till she leaves.

I agree, this stylist did a great perm but I believe she could have given this sweet lady a better haircut and not use so much spray!!!! Too much. But all in all she did a wonderful service for this lady. I've been a stylist for over 40 yrs.

Hermosa señora sin duda alguna pero el trabajo que le hicieron en su cabello fue demaciado para terminar en nada de principio a fin. Yo cuido personas de la tercera edad y les ago unos trabajos hermosos sin ser estilista profesional. 💇 💅

I have never seen a stylist this talented and so meticulous. I only wish we had someone just like her where I live. What a lovely hairstyle for this woman. Very impressed impressed❤❤

Waoo, I'm wondering how this beautician Abused this sweet and delicate old lady. Please, God Mercy for this peoples. Never let your dear elder on the hands of this kind of people. This is elder abuse. She doesn't go to do it to her mother or grandma. To much effort, to much stretching and very long time. Poor grandma, she'll be in headache for a long time. Not & not people at this age the dear daughter, niece or someone have to pamper on the house easy, timeless and never painful. That's why I studied Cosmetology too, cause I'm a real human being that feel the pain of the other. Thanks for sharing my mj cause we've been a this step too. Thanks 🙏👍❤😢

I'm 60 and sometimes it's just a matter of for day having something nice done for you and looking nice, I can't remember the last time I had a hair cut at a salon. I bet she was really a looker in her day, gorgeous eyes. Thank you for giving this Lady a beautiful do❤

But i dont know why a perm and then with the curling iron, its a waste of money 😊

Well, it IS an improvement from the "before" do but I would love to have a shot at it, and give her something you dont have to keep pulling and picking at for a half hour. 😊

I'm glad for her. We all need to be pampered. She's so happier looking and so beautiful. Great job the beautician did.❤
