No need for editing. A mistake here and there makes the experience more real and casual. The vibe is what matters and you have that perfected. Just watching you go "into the zone" and lose yourself in the music while playing makes your videos great.

Your current format is perfect for me. Especially with headphones to blank out everything else, I can maintain the illusion of sitting in a room with a few friends, chatting with and listening to a musical legend. For a few minutes every day I'm not old, disabled and stuck in my apartment. I appreciate you and your channel very much.

YES, please don't edit your videos. You are perfectly capable of carrying a cohesive, cognitively coherent monologue- in other words, normal human speech! There's a sort of trend with people over-editing their videos that makes them unwatchable to me, and suggests they can't think and speak without it. Hate to say it, but Beato did that to your interview, and it stood out compared to yours that way. OK, rant over. Love you, thanks as always, Lee!

I saw the same tour, it was the Falling In Between tour in 2007. I saw the first UK show at Bristol Colston hall, and again a few days later at Manchester Apollo. Lee depping was so new that no-one even knew he was in the band, though I recognised him immediately. I think Luke said that they had only contacted Lee a week ago, and he'd had 5 days to learn the set, so Bristol must have been right after the Dubai festival. I must say, being very familiar with the band's material, even the then new Falling In Between album, Lee didn't play a single wrong note as far as I could hear - a totally flawless performance !

I’ll weigh in here, as a fellow bassist at 68 years old. What you’re providing here is excellent. In this self isolation, your daily posts are an absolute joy and we (my non musician wife and I) look forward to your posts, whether about studio craziness or, and especially the gig stories. Keep ‘em coming, man.

Bless you Lee. Mikey was the most beautiful cat. I met him on several occasions and he always had a smile, a hug and that laugh.

How on earth can someone not love you? Seriously, you've got to be the most friendly, mega-professional, one of a kind, best of his art pro musician ever. Please do NOT edit those YT sessions, because for sure it'll massively reduce the aura and soul and lifeliness of your stories, recalls and performances. Its so much a pleasure and privilege the way it is now. Raw and real right from your desk. Could be next door from where each us enjoys this... Regarding Simon Philips I feel somehow really bad. Simply because I found his influence to be more Toto-like than with Jeff himself originally. I know I know, sounds crazy, still I enjoyed the live concerts more with Simon on the drums. Somehow he seemed to play Toto tunes even more fluidly, smoothly, kinda thai-chi way of drumming. At even the highest speeds, fastests and hardest passages it always seemed like he was easily sailing over his drum set. Of course thats purely from a very personal point of view. NOT from a historical or emotional point of view, where I very much missed Jeff, and still do. Shanon on the other hand never seemed to have had that silky smoothness, this flow going on. To me he rather appeared robotic-y, with short and kinda mechanic movements, still perfectly tight, but rather working the drums really hard than sailing'em with a smiling ease. Hard to express, and of course again very personal interpretation. Everyones mileage may vary. Thanks again, especially for picking Toto today, just wonderful. Have a nice start into the week. 👍

Leland, it would have been around 2006 for your first stint. The lineup consisted of yourself, Luke, Bobby, Tony, Simon and Greg. The second lineup consisted of yourself, Luke, David, Steve Porcaro, Shannon Forrest, Lenny, Joe and the backing vocalists.

Keep it like it is!! We love hearing and seeing everything almost as if we just dropped by your place for chat.

This tour’s video, because you were on it, brought me “back” to Toto to the point that they’ve now been my favorite band since (until Immediate Family releases, of course). So tough the circumstances, but I was starting to learn bass at the time and you’ve long been one of my fav cats forever. So looking for stuff of yours, I came across the video of this tour. Lee, I caught you with Toto two (?) Years ago at the NYS State Fair in Syracuse, absolutely loved the show and had the inestimable privilege of chatting with Lenny afterwards. I recently stumbled on your channel here and have followed you daily. Your demeanor is such a breath of fresh air, feel like I've known you all my life, a real privilege to be tuned in to you. I'm still gigging, but at 69, arthritis is making it difficult. Thank you from the depths of me, and all of us, for being such a bright, refreshing light in such a dark period. Mike Porcaro my all time favorite bass player. When Toto brought Mike in it made perfect sense, brothers, best childhood friends, but at the time alot of people thought that they were kicking David Hungate aside just to give their brother/best friend a dream job. This however wasn't the case. David Hungate did not want to travel Toto's ever expanding touring schedules which was starting to be international as well as domestic. It didn't take long for Mike Porcaro to prove himself and show the world that if one half of the bands rhythm section included a guy named Jeff Porcaro... you have about two options if you want to make it in that band 1.) Make a deal with the devil at the crossroads OR 2.) Have the same DNA & rhythm running through your veins as Jeff Porcaro. Obviously the latter seemed to have worked out well for everyone involved. R.I.P. Jeff and Mike Porcaro.

I love the fact that you've got 18 mins of one-take stuff straight from the heart. the bass blemish is actually the best part! certainly, you could nail it if you practiced it or edited it -- but it's the fact that you don't that makes it so great. stay safe / stay awesome

Lee, I really appreciate the time you put into this. It takes time thinking about the content and practicing and then there's the recording. It all adds up even when all goes as planned. Your relaxed style makes it all look pretty effortless, but I know there's a lot more going into these. Thanks for doing these. Leland ... always loved your playing. Saw you with James Taylor in New Orleans at Audubon park under a full moon. Magical time. Rock on forever, brother.

You should also realize how popular you are, and how much people around the world recognize your talent and perfection in playing a bass. It would exciting to be recognized in this way for the profession I chose to do for much of my life. It is a humbling thought. And yes Leland you are that good!!

One of my funniest memories is an interview with Lee after the Toto tour and they were talking to him about how he learned all the show since he had to memorize the show. Lee said they offered him charts as well that the audio recording. Lee told them charts are like heroin and if you give them to me I'll never get off them, so just give me the audio recordings. "charts are like heroin" Iove that line.

Why on earth should you stress yourself with EDITING? I appreciate that it's just you, with your stories and your bass, as you are t the moment, understanding that, as you said, you're playing in a 'Work' mode every day, when your chops would be better. I was reminded this weekend that you played on at least three albums by the contemporary Christian artist Steve Camp in the late 80s/early 90s. I have two of those albums on cassette on storage, but it occurred to me to listen to one of the ballads on "Justice". And listening to the bass part, it occurred to me, "Hey, I think that's Leland Sklar on bass".... it must have been after hearing "Do You Know Where You're Going To," that it occurred to me you took the same "upper register approach" … and then I remembered the big "gospel" number, and I remembered listening for that bass part back then, when I was much younger and listened to Christian Contemporary music. I know you played on several CCM projects. I don't expect you to play those here because I know lot of folks might not identify with the music. But the chops are there, in a record not many people would hear, the same as they would be in a James Taylor or Phil Collins record. Professionalism.

I finally got to see Mr. Sklar live with Mr. Collins in my hometown of Louisville in 2019 and it was OBVIOUSLY A GREAT SHOW !!!! Mr. Sklar thank you for all of your music over the years !!!! I attended the concert in Stockholm on that tour, a great, great show. Interesting to hear you say that Shannon Forrest is closer to Jeff Porcaro in terms of style of drumming than Simon Phillips (obviously, an amazing drummer in his own right), I thought so too. Totally agree with you , i went to a TOTO concert in Puebla Mexico , and i didnt like how Simon played Pamela rhat is one of mi favs TOTO songs , but when i heard Shannon i thought he play pamela almost identical to Jeff porcaro wooow
