Slap bracelets were banned in the early 90s when cheaply-made imitations of the original “Slap Wrap” were apparently made so shoddily that the metal inside them was able to through the fabric casings and cut your skin. I was super young in the early 90s, so this drama was a little before my time - but I do remember anytime we’d get our hands on slap bracelets as kids, we were brutal with them and always ended up with red, sore skin after. Poor Michael really took a beating! 😭😭
