@@jenniferrevilla5298 yup agree. Although there are times that I think this quality you cite quite accurately actually allows us to act suddenly with uncharacteristic speed and looks impulsive and out of character for us. When it's really just more a case of us being more aware and having thought it all through and can act faster than someone else.

Tested several times as INFJ. After one a tyrant boss said they hated INFJ. Then proceeded to be very mentally & emotionally abusive. I don't have all the traits listed here. 1. Not terribly private but absolutely prefer to be alone. And quiet, no TV, Radio, etc. much the time. I enjoy being with others in small doses. 2. Not very impulsive. Wasn't something I could indulge in most of my life and I prefer to be prepared, even over prepared. 4. If injustice or morality is involved, I stand my ground totally. Also don't bend rules or like others doing that. 6. The older I get the easier it is for me to accept being imperfect.

I think "unique" is more appropriate than the word "weird" because these characteristics are unique to INFJ personality. It has a more positive connotation. I embrace being an INFJ and don't consider my behaviors overall "weird".

I think it is very unfair to call any of these behaviours weird. Weird according to whom? By who's standards? They are just behaviours. It is damaging for us to be told that so many perfectly ordinary things are weird. Is it any wonder we are so private when we are being judged that way.

The human world is full a concepts and concepts don’t have any futility it’s just how we define the world from a certain perspective it’s like describing the color blue. We are only acquainted to our own experience. Judgement is another form of concept we must watch our own judgement of the world, fyi I agree with this comment.

It's definitely weird. Probably becuase it's uncommon. Sorry but these things are weird. Even something as obviously normal as planning ahead and trying to have a long view on things. People can barely plan what they're going to do from minute to minute. So actually being mindful and forward thinking is considered weird. We aren’t weird, we are simply misunderstood by 97% of the population and if we seem reserved, that’s a good first reason why. The only thing I had real issue with was how he said we have to tell the future. Introverted intuition is not fortune-telling. It’s an innate sensitivity to subtle patterns that give us an idea of what will happen based on information already provided that not everyone can perceive. Other than that and calling these behaviors weird, I’d say it’s pretty much spot on.

  • @wonkygustav4457

How is that not predicting the future though, if you can see patterns that will give you a relatively good idea of what’s about to happen and then it comes true?

  • @wordofmouth7679

    @wordofmouth7679

    6 ай бұрын

@@wonkygustav4457 I see what you mean, but id say that fortune-telling/future prediction are done without context. It’s just asking someone what will happen and they tell you. The intuition an INFJ has CAN, but not always will, arrive at the same “telling” but through a different means. Without crystal ball, magic, tarot cards, reading the bones, or some other supernatural method we often associate with predictions, INFJ is more like an unconscious statistician - seeing patterns and working out a probability of the likelihood of something happening, given a particular context. I’m not an authority on the subject by any means, but I hope the example provides some clarity to the difference. Be well.

@@wonkygustav4457It’s not a psychic kind of prediction. We have an innate ability to see patterns, on a conscious and subconscious level. And by noticing these patterns, we can often predict how things will play out. It also helps us read body language. We notice subtleties most others don’t.

Being private is weird. Being able to be alone is weird. Being able to read people is weird. Empathy is weird. Compassion is weird. Thinking about the future is weird. (btw. not the ability to create pretty well fitting prediction makes an INFJ secretive, it's people criticizing the sht out of us). Being a perfectionist, who is responsible and well-organized is weird. Having many interests and hobbies, being open/creative is weird. Fighting for someone else more than for yourself is weird. Yep, I have tried to open up about my opinions to friends I’ve become close with for years, and everyone immediately ditches me when I show an opposing opinion even though I’m okay with them not agreeing with me. I’m not trying to change their opinion, just share mine, but they seem to not be okay with me not having the same opinions as them 😢 I always try to say “let’s agree to disagree” because I don’t need everyone to think what I think, we can coexist! But they don’t want to… I want to hang out with people even if they don’t agree with me on everything, I can’t find anyone who agrees with me on enough to be okay with my opinions, I guess I have too many opinions that come from both sides and people expect you to pick one extreme and stick with that side in every part of your life, but it’s not always like that. I always get a bad reaction from open honest communication, people don’t like the real sh*t, they want the fake cr*p.

Confronting other is a real pet peeve of mine. I don’t like being in arguments or discord because it’s too taxing on me emotionally and mentally. But if I witness others getting bullied, watch out, I won’t stand for it. I will (and won’t hesitate) to fight those who bully others. And have done this time and time again since I was in elementary school. So it’s true that we advocate for others but not ourselves. Well, at least in my case it is.

@maryzimmerman2699... The degree to which I am accurate? It is truly uncanny. However, if I could choose, I would not "read" anyone or (too often) feel the many painful things (sometimes even of complete strangers). To look at a picture of a person (just last week) and sense so much pain that you want to cry??? 🥺💔 (My eyes are watering even as I write this.) It was just a picture!!! Just a picture. 😞 My friend wanted to know "how do you know how unhappy this child is", and all I could say is that I felt it... By end of conversation, I found out the particulars and that, following the initial phone conversation of the adults and this child (who the main couple had never met) all 3 of the adults ended up crying after the call ended. All that to state, anyone who would be less than humble that they can "read" people might have more serious issues. As someone who is (at times) what I call "morbidly quiet" (inwardly and sometimes outwardly) I find it to be a heartbreaking responsibility. 😓

Oh and we’re not actually perfectionists, we just require aesthetics which make us seem perfectionistic. And for those commenting, weird is only bad until you accurately define it. As far as perfectionism goes. It's true, we are perfectionists, but I feel like we still have a good understanding that nothing is perfect. If you aim for perfection, you may hit 80% of that. For me, that's the goal. Shoot for perfectionism so that you'll land somewhere closer to it than the other direction. I feel like most people go in to things hoping for the best, but if they don't plan for the best they can fall really short of their goal. If you're aiming for a bullseye, you're more likely to get close rather than if you just aim for the whole target in general.

I have had workmates before who misunderstood my isolation. I was struggling at that time to not compare myself to others. I decided to isolate myself for a short period, just to self-reflect and to be able to remove that negative energy from me. However, they thought I had something against them. I was still talking to them at that time but only those related to work but for other stuff like personal ones, I tend not to talk it with them like I used to. They misinterpreted that. Eventually, I became an outcast even after that self-reflection. They changed the way they treat me. When I could no longer tolerate their behavior, I decided to leave to protect my inner peace. I understand why they changed. I even blamed myself that time for the way they acted towards me. But I learned that I am just different. I accepted the fact that many people will not understand me. And I learned that I should not please everyone. If they don't understand, that's fine. As long as I am not stepping on someone and I am doing the good thing, I am good.

Even as a child, if I knew I was right, even if I stood alone I never budged or cared. Am still that way. I agree with the rest but though I've told others that they might not want to know what I'm thinking when they ask me what do you think, if they push, I'll tell them...That often scares ppl. 😂😂😂😂 I will fight for others, always will fight for the underdog but not so much for myself because it's too exhausting and not that important. I've learned to be comfortable in my own skin and don't care what others think. It's taken me a long time to get where I am but it's all worth it. The world is weird to INFJs not the other way around.

It’s/ I’m strange bc I’m known as a talkative person (though I’ve come to the conclusion it’s due to undiagnosed anxiety) but I love being alone. I’m very perceptive. I’ve even been speaking to someone and called them by their name and they’ll tell me they haven’t told me their name yet!!! 🤯

For me, there’s no such thing as “normal” because everyone has their own quirks. Some people who seem “normal” tend to hide their flaws to appear “perfect” in order to fit in or because of pressure from peers who criticize them. It’s best if we embrace authenticity as long as we’re not hurting anyone on purpose and I don’t think others should hate/pick on someone just because they don’t understand their authenticity

I laughed out loud at fhe way it said ”it may seem as though they are “psychos”” 😂 just so deadpan 😆 I’d think it was funny if people thought that. It wouldn’t really bug me if others don’t see me like I see myself.

As an INFJ female, I actually am the one always confronting and a come across as intimidating (according to friends or family) I rather nip things in the butt and come to an understanding ASAP. I may have this quality bc I grew up family always avoiding any sort of confrontation- and I hated that! I felt they weren’t standing up for themselves. So now I’m the bull and always seem to be standing up for others too.

People who aren't INFJs don't understand that INFJs just know things based on careful observations and pattern recognition of other humans and society at large. It takes me about 2 months of consistent talking to a person to know things most wouldn't be able to know for years down the line.

My teenagers absolutely "hated" me because I would "turn up" where they are, at precisely the moment when they were about to, " get up to no good"...I would sometimes leave work abruptly having a strong need to go to their school, or go home..or that I'm on the road going one way, the feel a strong urge to take a completely different way only to find me daughter on the road where she was not supposed to be!!!
