The National Economic and Development Authority Board has approved a total of 194 priority infrastructure projects worth about ₱9 trillion, of which 123 projects are “new and initiated” by the Marcos administration.
Majority of the projects are in physical connectivity and water resources such as irrigation, water supply, and flood management; while projects in digital connectivity, health, power, and agriculture are also being prioritized.
Among the big ticket projects in the Marcos Administration are the Panay Railway, Mindanao Railway III, North Long Haul Railway, San Mateo Railway, UP-PGH Diliman, NAIA or Ninoy Aquino International Airport rehabilitation, Ilocos Sur Transbasin and Metro Cebu Expressway
The projects would be financed via official development assistance, national government, and public-private partnerships (PPP).
The Marcos Administration believes in Noynoy Aquino’s public-private partnership approach in funding projects; thus it will be strongly promoting the utilization of public-private partnerships or PPPs wherein 45 projects have already been identified for PPPs.
The list of big-ticket projects is seen as "a giant step" toward the current administration's target of positioning the Philippines as "a prime investment destination in the region."
