It’s true.. too many getting 1st’s and 2.1 ‘s nowadays, so what’s the value of that! ?? Education is just one big business. Just laugh at those who struggled to no end to get that 1st now! It seemed as if that’s all those people did, was just Study!

Hi Temi, what time do you think is the best time to do an internship? Should I apply and do it during first year or second year? edit: My degree is 4 years long since I'm studying in Scotland, so the first two years are general engineering and the last two years is where i will study my specialisation.

If you’re able to, I’d do as many as possible. Getting the first one is hardest so if you’re able to secure one as a first year student that is absolutely fantastic and way beyond average. You can play around with the duration of the internships too. So you might do a year long internship in line with your course in any company and then do more targeted summer internships in the later years when you know what you like, industry/academia wise. You can also be strategic about what companies you go for with the later ones to get certain names on your CV as it’ll be easier to get into them since you’ll have experience. Or you can do summer ones first and the year long later, but in my opinion, summer ones are harder to get. Hope this helps!
