Excellent tips, Sir! My greatest weaknesses are saying no and lacking experience. On the latter, I have become a life-long learner almost to the extreme. I don't mention that in any interview, but it's something I've identified about myself. Is t good or is it bad? Who knows?!? :)

I’ve had five interviews so far, and no one asked me any questions about my weaknesses and strengths. All they wanted to know was my skills and past experience.

Maybe you were interviewed by managers, not recruiters. Some recruiters (unfulfilled psychologists? Plain sadists? 😋) wallow in asking all those questions they think are clever and sneaky, as if they said anything useful about a person's professional performance. I had a handful of interviews with behavioral and "psychological" questions at a minimum, and all of a sudden went to one where the lady asked me nearly every kind of those, including strengths and weakness (asked for *two* of each, just to catch me off guard) and also gave me a psycho-test to fill. 🙄

only recruiters or HR ask those questions. The direct manager usually really only want to go to the details about the actual work

They pull those questions from online... I used to be in HR and I hated it...They condemn people for the same things they do..They job hop so much it's not funny....it's a power trip for them and or money... also remember they are advocates for the company and not for the people

I had someone ask me that once, I didn't even know what to say. Thought it wasn't a pleasant question because we all have weaknesses and most of us don't advertise them much less want to expose them to someone in an interview.

OK this post happened a month ago, so not really expecting a reply, but in the past I've always answered that I have trouble switching off from work and will carry things around with me. I've always thought that there is an implied idea that this shows commitment, and in the lower reaches of my brain stem I'm still trying to find solutions to work problems, 24x7. Sometimes with some success (auto correcting S-Curve forecasting for example). Now I'm thinking that in tune with the modern lingo I should perhaps say, "I have had trouble compartmentalising my work life and my personal life..." While more honest (and I could always mention that during a performance appraisal my boss asked me if there was a way of stopping my now ex from calling me at work (?!)) Don't know the answer for this one. Any assistance would be appreciated.

My weakness is that I don't care about your business at all and I'll only show up to get paid but if I say that I'll never get the job. So why ask a question you know nobody is going to be honest about?

Why ask a question if you expect the candidate to lie to you about? This is the dumbest question to ask.
