    You don’t need arc for invocation, as long as it’s in range and the necro is unengaged it’s all good. Also, raised zombies are skirmishers so wouldn’t have redirected the O&G units

    Really nice battle report. Thanks a bunch for sharing. Brings back memories to the old Warhammer forum even more so than old White Dwarf issues. Regarding the inclusion of the Black Orc Chariot: Units/(Named) characters from the Arcane Journals, which can be included in a Grand Army composition, has a provision stating how it can be included - like the Trollhag or Bonegrinder Giant. The Black Orc Chariot does not so - going by precedent - cannot be included either as a stand alone rare unit or as a Black Orc mount. The entry on page 41 only applies to a Nomadic Waaagh! Not saying it would be gaming breaking if you could, but if you allow the Black Orc Chariot, then you could also make an argument for allowing Bretonnia Grand Armies with Border Princes Bombards and Outcast Wizards. Or Tomb Kings Grand Armies with Tomb Guard chariots, Venerable Ushabti and Arch Necrotects Cohorts.🥶🥴 I wouldn't say no to including Black Out Chariots - there are some intriguing conversion possibilities out there - but I do think sets the wrong precedent.

    Loved the batrep! Really great! I would suggest putting more terrain in the centre of the board tho, just to make things more complicated than two lines of infantry pushing into each other, and I suspect terrain layouts like this are why fanatics are considered so broken. They die if they run into terrain but so many players only put the terrain around the edges of the board, as scenery, and then wonder why enemy Fanatics can just rip through their lines unhindered. One or two walls or little forests in the middle of the board don't slow things down too much and can really mess up fanatics.

    I was going to say this, too. Also, the mirrored terrain is weird and not normal for fantasy. Put down real terrain in different spots to make a realistic looking board.

    Rules as written in the book, no terrain except for special features should be placed within 12” of the centre of the board. I agree it’s odd, and it definitely buffs Fanatics, but if playing in a tournament or a tournament-style game that is what the rules say.

    @@thomasc6684 I feel like people are treating "the center of the battlefield" as a line, when it is not explicitly declared to be so. In common parlance, the center would be a point. Otherwise I'd expect they'd say within 12" of the center line of the table.

    For the Zombie Dragon's name: Its a giant mound of rotting flesh so pungent it debuffs enemies attacking it and its breath is so horrific it literally kills people. Its also being named by someone called Lady Alessia [presumably many redacted middle names] Von Carstein. It should be called "Stinky".

    Great BR! Looking forward to the next one. Just a question, you mention that the necomancer could not cast Invocation of Nehek on the Terrorgheist. I looked up the special rule, where does it state that the target has to be in the casters' front arc? It only says it has to be within 12" of the caster? Also, I noted that the skeleton warriors were resurrected in VC's turn 3 and 4. But, as a far as I read the Invocation of Nehek, the unit that is being resurrected, may not be in combat. Hope you can help me out understanding this special rule better, facing a VC player this upcoming weekend! :)

    Just re-read now! I believe the rule for invocation of says that the caster can’t be in combat (which I may have got wrong), but the unit itself can happily be fighting away. Moving forwards, all my Necromancers will be out of the units and wandering around on their own! It also definitely doesn’t say you need LOS to use it either, so great point!

    @@ElmoMiniatures6PlusPlus You are probably right. So just to be sure, "they" and "their" refers to the caster and not the fallen in the description of the special rule? "During the Command sub-phase of their turn, if are not engaged in combat, this character may attempt to resurrect the fallen by making a Leadership test (using own Leadership)."

    @@nielsbgp that’s how read it, the sentence is referring to the caster and so the rule applies to him. It’s then the second sentence which references the target unit!

    Unfortunately, doom diver firing indirectly doesn't get to use the BS of crew as well as D3 redirect. As I see it, doom divers are actually worse at indirect fire, because they only reduce artillery dice scatter by D3 (not even redirect in any direction), instead of standard crew being 3 😞

    Absolutely true, but I see their role as anti-tough-stuff, which is typically a large target - so you can see it over intervening models. Doom diver does the best job of sniping monsters and lone character IMO

    You might want to tinker with the night goblin unit sizes. In general the optimal size for a unit is 4 times x +1 in order to minimize panic and ending at 25% to give up points. In addition a unit of 21. Will maintain full ranks vs a character when you challenge them in combat. So 33-21-13, would be slightly more efficient.

    I think for a big unit 35 is a good number if you're putting a character in so you can maximise your wounds and ranks without going into a marching column, whilst minimizing your frontage. But your point for smaller units a really good idea.

    Panic (Heavy Casualties) is now >25% not >=25% (as in previous editions), but the other points you are all valid.

    Why do the night gobbo units show light armour? Is it typo? As they can't have light armour, only Common goblins get it... Also Chaos Dwarfs have best artillery in the game, everybody (should) know that...

    You mean Iron Daemon? Yeas it is goos, but Death Shrieker is also nice, as the flame rockets hit with large blast and even one casualty from it forces opponent to make Panic test. Also the other shot is great. Earthshaker isn't as good as it was, but can still hurt enemy by slowing them down and no artillery hunting unit probably will have any chance against Hellcannon which is happy to eat all who managed to attack it... Plus there is always humble bolt thrower and then the hilrious option to take Magma cannon, tow it behind Iron daemon and use it to drive-by-flaming enemy units... Or heck, tow several of them behind Iron Daemon burn everything to cinder and ash! BuhahaHAHAHAHAHAAA! BURN! BURNNN!!!
