Might be a stupid thing to do, but I like to try just hot water out of a teapot, just for curiosity, did this a couple times with my Duan Ni when I got it fresh and new, and rinsed it many times, and the taste of the water became crystal clear, compered to just water straight out of a kettle. Still try it nowadays, but I can defenitely feel some kind of tea taste on the water, since it's a pretty used pot by now. Although I have no idea if this determines any quality, since I've never tried this with a cheap pot.

That’s a really fun test!! I’ve never done it and paid attention to the water but I wonder if you could determine without putting any tea through the pot based on the way the water changes what types of teas are most suitable for that pot. 🤯
