    Fun fact: there is a thing called octane booster. It's a small bottle that just contains something to boost your octane. (i don't know what it is, but chrisfix made a video about that) so if you fill your car with the wrong fuel you can just empty the bottle in there and you can go. You can usually get it at a gas station but if the one you're at doesn't have that then just take it easy and don't full throttle on the way to the next gas station. _this has saved my life a couple of times!_

    don't freak out about resting on the shifter. This only applies to cars with physical shifters that are directly tied to the gearbox. If you have a 2017 Audi or newer you are fine. Also with a Prius and some Volvos. Just make sure your shifter returns to the rest position when in gear. If it stays where you leave it then it can cause harm.

    One important thing they failed to mention is GAS, Yes gas acts as a lubricant for your fuel pump and running it low will ruin the fuel, but putting too much gas, like when you're filling up and the pump, DON'T trying to put that extra 35 to 50 cents (Overfilling) will also ruin your fuel evap system and could cost you like a thousand bucks. When the gas pump stops, you need to stop also. Once you get raw fuel into the charcoal container that's only suppose to see vapors, It's not a cheap fix.

    If you use low octane fuel in a high octane vehicle the knock sensor retards timing. Small decrease in power. But it won't hurt the engine. The computer knows. Jus like using high octane in regualt vehicle you will get better gas mileage as long as your computer has at least obd1 more with obd2 and 3. It will adjust the air fuel ratio and timing . It burns slower and more complete burning. High octane fuels from top tier stations have more cleaning agents. Top tier has more anyway but the high grade will have more.

    Keeping the clutch halfway pressed in the traffic is not considered as riding. The friction material on the clutch plates starts burning out on high degrees - about 200 celsius and that can occur on high revs and partially pressed clutch(hence more friction).

    1500 to 2000 RPM is NOT high rpm, that's really not even moderate and is done to get the Oil Pump to move quicker to circulate the oil throughout the engine. Yes you can do damage not having your car idle enough on a cold start just as idling too fast.

    @@hf3593 this is why city stop and go is bad and damaging. Just like idking the oil pressure is at it's lowest at idle. Not to mention strain on cooling system in stop and go and gridlock. Coolant is hotter and stays hotter from the entire and transmission lines running to it. With only the fan drawing air in. One thing I like about my f250 they don't do well with electric fans man have tried the clutch fan is where it's at.

    Rotaries need to be revved to the moon when first started because they pump in more oil at high rpms and oil through the intake, where other engines pump it, and have trouble pumping it at startup due to how thick cold oil is, but rotaries again pump more oil at higher rpms. It also helps re seat the piston seals allowing the engine to run more efficiently faster

  • @aestheticcruise8807
    @aestheticcruise88074 жыл бұрын

    Here is another winter startup tip. Before you start the engine, turn the key to power only the electronics and make sure all accessories like the radio and defrosters are off. Doing that will allow the battery to achieve a full circuit and allow the temperature senosors to analyze the weather conditions and the fuel pump to pressure up the system (faint buzzing noise) Let the fuel pump prime the cylinders til it shuts off. Having a full circuit before you start the engine will reduce strain on the battery and your starter and help those critical components last longer. As for a cold start, it won’t harm the engine once it starts and if it sounds like it will stall, giving a slight “blip” of the throttle (only once) will make sure there is enough fuel going into the cylinders

  • @miendust
    @miendust4 жыл бұрын

    you missed one point... it's not just seconds after starting the engine... wait until the engine has heated up and the fluids and other components are at the ideal temperature. Water and Oil should be at least 80° C!!! Otherwise, the oil can't keep up with the fast movement of the pistons, so there will be no lubricant and as a result breaking your engine and leading to total engine damage.

    High octane fuel in a low require octane vehicle does absolutely nothing but empty your pockets. Low octane fuel in a high octane vehicle lowers power and causes earlier wear and tear to the engine. Sports/SUV's care with no low octane tuning can damage engines, such as valves, valve seats, overall engine detonation, etc

  • @enemys007

    Typically you should go of the door jam placard on a vehicle. But lacking that typically passenger cars run between 35 and 44 psi with thinner sidewalls requiring the higher pressures. I'd start at 35 and see how my tires rolled over

  • @splitsecondmagician
    @splitsecondmagician4 жыл бұрын

    With pickups, that 80 psi for the rear tires is only recommended if you have a load on the vehicle. Otherwise you'll just be over inflated and burn out your center tread. Without a load on matching front and rear tire pressures is a better idea.

    Well it depends, if you have a 6 cylinder Camaro, Chevy recommends 87 octane gas but with the V8s, You have to have 91 or higher octane because of the increased compression ratio of the V8 compared to the V6. So basically, read your manual for what your manufacturer recommends to be put in your engine. But if you modify your car, follow what your tuner says in order to get consistent performance.

    Everybody comment about "dangerous brakes" didn´t listen carefully. There is a difference about "using the brakes" and "riding the brakes". And he´s absolutely right about the term "riding the brakes" But I just disagree with two other things: 1.) Nearly all modern cars (build since about 2000) have a "knock sensor". So it´s quite pretty harmless, which octane you use. 2.) "Resting" the hand on the stickshift / gearshift is quite harmless too, as long as you don´t use any kind of force. Just don´t move your hand around.

    We have all the same super and turbo charged cars that they have all over the world. We only have 95 unleaded and two grades of diesel.

    Never mind riding the brakes when going downhill, what about the guys who ride the brakes all the time - right foot on the gas and left foot on the brake pedal all day long? The brakes are always hot and therefore less effective, they wear out faster and cost you more money to replace, and you may as well not have any brake lights at all. If the brake lights are on constantly, they are no longer useful for warning the drivers behind you that you are now using enough pressure on the brake pedal to actually slow the car down.

    @5:55 - well that ain't gonna happen. I live in Dallas, Texas and people love to ride everyone's ass. If you leave any sort of gap between you and the car in front of you, someone will cut in front of you.

    If u have a high horsepower engine use 91 or 93 octane but on a low horsepower engine u real dont need high octane fuel

    You can't put to much octane in a engine. The higher the octane the slower it burns.

    All transmissions allow you to "downshift". For example Take your gearshift lever put it down to the next space, like "2", some fords have a button on the gear shift handle that when pressed turns off overdrive, and an indicator lights on the dash. In other words, you need to use engine braking, much more effective than brakes, and when you need your brakes, they aren't overheated. Truckers have been doing this for years in any hilly conditions. My car has a "sport" auto shifter, all I do is put it on "S", and push the buttons on the side of the Shifter Handle for the next lowest gear. I am amazed at the number of drivers that don't know this, they are only exceeded by the numbers of drivers that have no clue how to use Cruise control either..............
