They're called "glass block". I have seen them in several styles, clear like a regular window, reinforced with metal mesh, the kind you got, frosted, and white or colored glass. They even have insets that you can include that open for ventilation. There are lots of applications including commercial, foundation insets, partitions that let light through, and privacy windows like you are using them for.

Ingenious way of handling the spacer dilemma, I very much approve!

What happened to your plywood floor video? I’m trying to show my wife and I can’t find it at all. It was golden
I used to think it was so weird that you worked on these projects in the dark. As I newly married young man myself, I used to ask “what the heck does his wife do while he works in the dark?” Now I get it. You do a lot of stuff to carry your family. You fit in these projects when you can. I work a full time job while trying to grow a real estate business on the side that I’d like to completely support my family with one day. If one year ago today I’d see what my daily schedule is right now, or just how full it is, I’d be shocked and anxious. But I’ve learned the things a man will do to support his family are an awesome thing to see happen. Thanks for the videos!
"...you don't need to put any more than you have to but, you want more than you need." I like it; it's philosophical.
When we bought our house 20 years ago we had to pretty much gut the bathroom. There was a large window in the tub/shower area. It was wood and mostly rotted. We took it out, framed the hole smaller but as high, and put in a pre made glass block window with 3x4 blocks. Best decision we made. Lets in a lot of light and with plastic trim its very rot resistant.
Wow that last block was a dussie. Best block video since Roger Waters
The block window is perfect. Personally though, if perhaps more expensive and complicated, I would have installed a small casement window where the upper two rows are. That would have allowed ventilation, in addition to the privacy the blocks give.

Top three rows for me, but I had the same thought. It wouldn't've looked nearly as good from the outside, though.

i agree. but even more so, cant you just order a window with frosted glass?
@potblack6043

@@michaelwhite6110 One certainly could, but I think blocks just look better. Like what he said, they are more of a light wall than a window.

A smaller window above boob height would much be preferred in a bathroom.
I’m a glass block window installer in New York. At least in my area, you don’t even need spacers between the block. I build up the windows to size using epoxy to stick the blocks together, then I silicone the seams on both sides to keep them air tight. Once it’s built, I install the entire window, not block by block, but as one piece. Your window looks great! Love the series!

Do you have a video of that?
That window is gorgeous. You can’t beat that natural light and privacy.
I am so glad you showed the wood that was bracing your ladder. I am an older lady & I was wondering what you did. So smart as usual! Looks great! It is your house, your labor & your money, so you get to make all the decisions!!
Block window looks great! There was definitely a time when that was dated, but since most people bought into that and stopped doing it, it now looks pretty cool. You don’t see it very often anymore. Nice to see how far the house has come since the days of that damn concrete block 😂

The dates look is partially in how and where you use them. I like them, if they were so unpopular they wouldn’t keep making and selling them. Sometimes they’re the perfect answer

I did that at my parents house, and i decided to install a window in the side and ventilation fan.
I believe that is the biggest spirit level I've ever seen! Always a pleasure watching you make it look easy.
I, too, am a fan of glass block; I think it is classy. Fantastic job, as always.
be sure to foam the gaps around the window opening, it will stop drafts
@cloudstrifeification

Yep you could see the light coming through those gaps, which means air is coming through them as well!
I can't even begin how hilarious I'd find the blurry outline of my neighbor on the toilet would be.
Stretching the spacers, wow pure genius, I love how you improvise and think outside of the box. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I like the glass block window. It adds a nice touch of individuality and character to the house. I'm exceedingly lazy and cheap , so I would have just installed the regular, frosted window, but I do like the look of this window. Thanks for sharing this video with us. I look forward to seeing your videos. They are my favorite KZread videos.
I've run into the same issue with wrong sizes at stores before. Why didn't they think of that when they were setting them on the shelf!!! Love your workaround.
I love how this window style looks from the street
The window looks beautiful with the light beaming through it. Almost like you got a TV with some trippy colors playing behind it.
I like the use of the same music as Kill Bill (i think when Beatrix is being buried alive) for the last few block windows. Very Cask of Amontillado vibe.
In my last home, there was a corner of my kitchen with glass block to the outside; you get a nice prismatic feature when the light comes through, and I received many compliments.
I know you're not professional but you definitely do a better job than many who call themselves professional.
Love the glass block. It makes that bathroom feel a lot more luxurious. You should paint the foundation on the outside the same blue as the front porch area and you could also continue it onto the wood. Or if you decide to keep the wood natural or stain it, the blue will be a good contrasting color.
This reminds me of minecraft glass physics. At least how they used to be but also brings me back to the 80s and 90s when you found these types of walls throughout a house and sometimes on the outside. Looks cool.
Great problem solving with the spacers! Yes, that window will be lovely when the rooms finished and it all the aspects blend in. XXX
All these shows like better call saul coming back. But I get more excited when a new one of these comes up! 😆
I also love the glass block. Good for you, going with the look that YOU love! And thank you HH and SimpliSafe for the video♡
Glad you did that glass block window instead of a regular window. It's different and was more interesting to watch then a regular window install.
That window came out beautifully….I did hold my breath on the last tile knowing you were so high up on the outside( the music was clever🤣😂) ..but great job! Thank you for explaining as you worked on it! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
I love the window! I think toilets in front of windows are unusual but this is a good option to help that privacy issue. Great job!
Always enjoy when Dad helps you! It looks nice.
To answer your question, yes, I like when you film a section in detail so we can watch exactly what you are doing in real time. Of course the video can't be sixteen hours, but it's nice for a little segment, like you did here.
I love it when you explain what you're doing and "just keep moving forward" is great advice.
In use since late 19th century, i have always loved glass blocks. This was a great idea and executed very well. Bravo!
Blocks in a bathroom have always been a personal favorite. Looks great to me and very informative. You are an inspiration once again, H.H. Thank you Simple safe for the sponsor and can't wait for more.
Love the glass block and looking forward to the farmhouse.
Love seeing the progress! Can’t wait to see it finished!
So glad your back love it
LOVE the glass block window! ❤️
Clever move with the glass tile spacers!
Good to see you. You made an excellent decision on the choice of window for bathroom, also good safety decision. Such a perfectionist. I want to see it all. ☺☺ Looks great.
I appreciate the little cutaway bits explaining the process of what you’re doing. I don’t ever plan on doing a block window, but it’s kind of a therapeutic thing to watch and learn something as it’s being done.
That window is so nice!! You were up so high outside!😵💫 It really is amazing looking. Nice to see you and your dad working together. 😃 All the best. Coming along nicely. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family. 😃 🥰
I love the block window! Thanks!
Can’t wait for this house to finally be done!!! It’s gonna’ be amazing!!
Very cool glass block for the upstairs bathroom. Amazing light and privacy. Awesome
Great alternative for the bathroom window. Quality job as per normal. Thanks for the video
I really like the glass block, it lets a lot of light in. 👏👏👏
great to have another video on this house! I've missed watching this project so much, glad it's finally realising your vision :)
I appreciate seeing the glass block installed and your comments as you are doing it. I like the look of glass block, and would like to use it in my home.
I love the idea of the glass block window. I think they're a beautiful addition to the room.
Nice work , definatly brings in tons of light.
That looks awesome! Definitely enjoy the explanation parts of the videos when you add them
Live the glass block!! Love your content!! I have a tiny bathroom, with one small window, large shower 6 feet away from window put these blocks on the window side of shower!! Brings in so much light!!
An extremely nice detail, bringing in natural light gives it a modern feel as with the visual effect of glass block, in general, is very cool. Glass block was very popular in many basements as with large walk-in showers easy to clean or certain parts of the house such as this.
That looks awesome. Wife and I just bought a really old place and we're redoing it a bit at a time ourselves. This is a good looking option for our bathroom window as well. Love the look.
Been looking forward to seeing another upload. Keep up the great work.
Wow! Turned out gorgeous! I never even liked glass block until now.
Your house is starting to look quite pretty there from the outside! I’m looking forward to seeing you do the inside! Love your devotion to work!
Beautiful!! What a lovely job you did on the glass block window wall.
That is a beautiful window.
The window looks great!!🤩
A lot of work on that window. I Love it❣
I've always liked the glass blocks. I think it was a great idea and a great way to get a lot of natural light into the room and taking care of the privacy issue at the same time.
Looks great 👍👍👍 I love glass block. Beautiful!! Thank you for showing how it's done 😊
The window block looks great to me!
Looks-so-nice...hard-worker!
Nice to see work done on this house again.
Great video, really nice work on the window with those blocks, I really enjoyed that and all the info that came with it, thanks sir
Likey!! Is no one gonna comment how well you worked with yourself??? 🙌🏼🥰
Looks great!! You’re getting so much wonderful light!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The glass block window is so pretty - hubby and I did one years ago and it was relatively easy to do. Love the detail. Nice work.
24 min "You just gotta keep moving forward on anything you do" fav philosophical thought from this episode.
I like the glass block shower walls also.
I love that there are more videos and projects to come!
I love it. Nice steady flow of light, no worry of privacy and no need for a curtain. Excellent.
Just wanted to say I love these videos and this channel. I started watching during the initial pandemic, and really have no carpentry skills at all, but I very much enjoy watching the progress made in each house. Thank you.
Good looking. I like the blocks.
It looks so good.
You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
Great job....love the glass box.
Love how’s its looking ive been watching all your videos for years now, love how this how’s is coming, can’t wait to see the finish result. Keep it up 👍🏻 love it
That ladder = terrifying! I tried to climb up 12 ft on the side of my house for a fascia repair. Got 4 ft up and froze. Nope! Lol

Unfortunately I’ll go up any ladder no matter how high. With that said, I have been in situations where how high/how dangerous what i was doing had me pretty scared.
Welcome back 🙏 Been waiting for you ..... Good see you again
I like the glass block! It matches the house.
The window looks amazing!
Good for you! My dad did a glass block wall that was featured in Architect Digest back in the 80s! They are so cool. And if you live in the city, necessary for ground level windows.
I have watched every house video you posted, and love your meticulous work ethic! I have to say that this $9K house is the one I have been the most anxious to see completed though! You have essentially had to gut the entire thing so I know the transformation is going to be like a work of art and I just cannot wait! Love your work and how you explain things to people like me, who know nothing about building. Bless you! ❤❤❤
So excited for another video! I really love this house and all the improvements you've made. I could see myself in that little yard gardening or BBQing. Love love the window! It really looks nice and professionally done :) got to say I was holding my breath when the last two blocks went in!
Very fine work, sir! Good on you!
Looks good man. I've been watching your videos since you were making tables in your parent's yard. I'm so impressed with your accomplishments along the way. Thanks for all the knowledge.
It is beautiful
I love the ending, always a new project, keep it up!
Nice job... those blocks are great for bathrooms.. tons of light.. and you dont have to worry about perv's...
I love watching your process on the projects that you work on. I appreciate the fact that you take the time to make sure you're doing things right. Glass block windows are definitely an upgrade in architecture value - same with stained glass windows, it's a feature that can potentially increase the value of the property. Nice job!

I have to think that the durability of material as well as having a wall/stationary aspect means that it cannot be easily damaged. That is certainly another bonus in addition to the lovely look.
I love the window.
Nice block window. I agree expensive but it so looks it was worth it. Very unique and charming
The Spaghetti Western music as you were sealing yourself out of the room was awesome. Could have named this episode "The last Cube Before Dawn"
I was on pins and needles as the last block was going in! Loved the guitar and violin music. Great job on the house and the video!
