They're called "glass block". I have seen them in several styles, clear like a regular window, reinforced with metal mesh, the kind you got, frosted, and white or colored glass. They even have insets that you can include that open for ventilation. There are lots of applications including commercial, foundation insets, partitions that let light through, and privacy windows like you are using them for.

I used to think it was so weird that you worked on these projects in the dark. As I newly married young man myself, I used to ask “what the heck does his wife do while he works in the dark?” Now I get it. You do a lot of stuff to carry your family. You fit in these projects when you can. I work a full time job while trying to grow a real estate business on the side that I’d like to completely support my family with one day. If one year ago today I’d see what my daily schedule is right now, or just how full it is, I’d be shocked and anxious. But I’ve learned the things a man will do to support his family are an awesome thing to see happen. Thanks for the videos!

When we bought our house 20 years ago we had to pretty much gut the bathroom. There was a large window in the tub/shower area. It was wood and mostly rotted. We took it out, framed the hole smaller but as high, and put in a pre made glass block window with 3x4 blocks. Best decision we made. Lets in a lot of light and with plastic trim its very rot resistant.

The block window is perfect. Personally though, if perhaps more expensive and complicated, I would have installed a small casement window where the upper two rows are. That would have allowed ventilation, in addition to the privacy the blocks give.

I’m a glass block window installer in New York. At least in my area, you don’t even need spacers between the block. I build up the windows to size using epoxy to stick the blocks together, then I silicone the seams on both sides to keep them air tight. Once it’s built, I install the entire window, not block by block, but as one piece. Your window looks great! Love the series!

Block window looks great! There was definitely a time when that was dated, but since most people bought into that and stopped doing it, it now looks pretty cool. You don’t see it very often anymore. Nice to see how far the house has come since the days of that damn concrete block 😂

Love the glass block. It makes that bathroom feel a lot more luxurious. You should paint the foundation on the outside the same blue as the front porch area and you could also continue it onto the wood. Or if you decide to keep the wood natural or stain it, the blue will be a good contrasting color.
