First SimpliSafe sponsored video (MY HOUSE TOUR) - • $9,000 HOUSE - UPDATE ...
In Episode 24 I make big progress on the house tearing out more walls. I get the stairwell taken care of and down to the studs. I wired the upstairs bedroom along with installing additional lighting. I'll have two can lights and a fan. This will help with heating and cooling. While I have more experience renovating houses than the average homeowner, I continue to learn so much and look forward to applying these lessons in future projects. One such task is wiring up the stairwell light, I decided to install a 3 way switch so that the light could be turned on and off at both the bottom and top of the staircase. It is the first time doing so but I've already got several more I plan on wiring up in other locations. As mentioned in the video, it's been a while since I've worked on the video. I have been not only been busy but in need of a mental vacation.......which was nice. I'm looking forward to continuing on this house, marching toward the finish. At this point, I don't only want the rent it will produce, but I just want it off my plate so I can move on to more enjoyable and personal projects. We also make a return to the farm table series, completing the top made from reclaimed tongue and groove pine boards from this house. You can purchase farm table plans here- www.thehomesteadcraftsman.com/...

Every time I watch one of your videos it's clear that you read the comments. Unlike other content creators who become embittered by negative comments, you seem to be able to laugh at naysayers and wink at the rest of us. This is rare, and a talent. You allow us to see your personality, which some KZreadrs are afraid will alienate viewers. They want to be everything to all people. You are why we watch these videos. Your lack of gloves, your hats with holes, your winks to the "ladies" and that interminable concrete block are part of the recipe. Go on.

You really don't have to justify yourself. I just found your channel recently but already binge watched almost all of your videos. What really made me stay and subscribe was the fact, that you are thoughtful and acting responsible in what you do. And sometimes the right thing to do is realizing that a project is taking a toll on you and that you need to leave it be for some time. Don't justify yourself for who you are because you are an awesome, honest, solid dude who many people should look up to! I know I do :)

We laughed our butts off and then I took it back to Lowes and found something else. :o)

Glad to see ya back at it! I just got done rewiring our "new" 1940 home. It was quite the job with minimal wall opening. Luckily I had some balloon framing with no fireblock in the 4 corners of the house so I could run wires up and down them. I ended up not planning some of the runs too well as I used more wire than I should have through the attic to get to some switches, but all in all it wasn't too bad. Side benefit, I now know where every wire in my house is run.

You touched on one of the reasons I think renovation channels are so popular; it's so darn satisfying to see bit by bit, room by room, project by project, come to completion. Every project builds upon itself until you get closer and closer to completion, and seeing the results of all that effort. I have no doubt it's satisfying to you with all your hard work put into it, but it's very satisfying to watch, too!

Found your channel about a week ago. Have enjoyed watching you. I come home from work 8hrs - Whenever I get done schedule and just relax and watch channels like this. Pickup lots of good ideas. BTW the 15k house looked awesome. I am planning to buy your book.

There’s something so beautiful about that blue floral wallpaper to me. I would have saved a bit to frame and hang in the house once it’s done. I just ADORE this little house. 💜

Hoping you all the best! Hold your head above water even if there are things going on that might try to bring you down every now and then.

Greetings from the Show-Me State! Love your videos! My husband and I are saving up to buy a house, while we won't be buying one that needs as much TLC as the ones you renovate, these videos are really helpful for what to look for when it comes to big repairs. Your videos are also a great motivator while cleaning/organizing around our current apartment. Keep on keeping on, ignore the haters and the trolls (they're just gonna hate anyway), and do it at your own pace. The rest of us viewers always have the previous videos to fall back on if we need a home renovation fix. PS - It is in the 90s here with almost 50% humidity- I totally understand humidity being an energy zapper when mixed with heat.

cboyce05 MO here too and it is hot n nasty for sure in my tiny SHOW ME town. That young man is amazing! Stay safe and cool in this humid hot weather and hopefully get some rain later on weather says. Good luck on your venture! 👍🏻👍🏻. Was how my now ex and I went from a small house to a bigger one each time...and so glad did it when we were young! 😁.

I laughed out loud at the open of this vid. So glad I’ve been around long enough to know the significance of that d@mn column. Hahaha! Thanks for sharing. It’s super appreciated in my world. Motivation can be tough especially when it’s hot. I’m in Florida and just started a camper van conversion. After 30 minutes of ripping a sheet of plywood my shirt was soaked through with sweat. Keep hammering man and I will too!

I am enjoying watching the progress of the $9,000 house. Keep up the momentum! I can imagine its very frustrating, but you have a dedicated following that appreciates all the work you put into these houses (like me). Thank you for all the information along the way on "how to" do things. Its inspiring!!!

I know the feeling! Sometimes it feels like it's never going to be complete. But before you know it, it's done! I sometimes alternate from what I should be doing, to what i want to be doing. Like pulling out the old furnace, just for the hell of it, lol. It's really motivating to see you work on your house too. I love these video's! I hope you'll find the motivation to keep going. I think you should just get all the walls done, so you could start with drywall, that always makes me feel better. Thank's again!

You were a big inspiration for me to buy an old house and fix it up instead of going into massive debt, bought our place almost a year ago and been living here with my family now a few months, really glad I followed through when it got strenuous. I always kept thinking about that guy on youtube and how he has the energy of 3 men, can't sit on my ass after seeing such efforts.
