More great beats available in my book Beats Exotiques from www.beats-exotiques.com. 900 playalong files available too!
More lovely bell patterns. This was a mare to edit. Memo to Self: Must LEARN the pattern BEFORE trying to record it. Missed out loads, had to cut loads, Samba 2 I only played the 1st half of the pattern! Also I got told off by the campsite owner half way through and it put me off...

@drummercouk that's an interesting point to me (8 years late)...... I've chatted a bit with Rebeca Mauleon (author 101 Montunos, Salsa Guidebook for Piano and Ensemble) about the fact that the default introductory clave is nearly always 3:2. However, In my ridiculous hoard of about 15,000 afro-latino songs (Ismael Rivera, Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Fania All Stars, Larry Harlow, Eliades Ochoa, Compay Segundo, Jimmy Bosch, Africando, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ray Baretto, La Sonora Ponceña, Grupo Niiche, Grupo Gale, Quinto Mayor, Fruko y sus Tesos, Joe Arroyo, many more hopeless addictions :) you'll find maybe 20 songs in 3:2 clave!! It's just happened that way, and certainly not to contest your opinion. I actually encounter few 3:2 pieces, and wonder if it's the genre, the group of composers and players I tend to gravitate toward..... Now there have been a couple times I caught myself a measure off...... :) Like 3-4 times a decade And big gratitude for your amazing knowledge base; I have some difficulty with YT mail in case you ever see this, but I'd be interested to hear how you learned so many classical rhythms, did you travel in Africa or Americas? I was just thinking about how much certain UK natives embraced rhythms outside the traditional rhythms of the region...... Brian Auger and Alex Ligertwood, for example. While I've played with Alex and quite dug his bell playing while singing and over solos, Brian Auger is one severely funky player and composer I'd love to see. A Latin percussion section would've been a perfect fit in his bands, Anyway, thanks for something I wish I'd found years ago. I was baptized with clave by a Santana percussionist, apartment mates for 2 years of never enough tutelage. This video opened up plenty of fresh ideas. I'm saving some pennies for some bells, lucky to have cool neighbors other side of the wall of this shoddy old duplex on Chesapeake Bay. Be well!
