    Can I use the 80 amp controller for a 1500W hub motor? I was thinking I could turn down the current to45 A? Last night I purchased the 45 amp version but I think I’m going to cancel the order and order the 80amp version and hoping for more power out of my 1500 W motor. Also I probably will upgrade to a more powerful motor in the future…So do you recommend that using a 80 amp controller and just lowering the current? I’m thinking I will get more power sinceThe 80 amp version is much beefier than the 45amp

  • @EverythingEbikeChannel

    Absolutely go for the 80a one and then tune it down. You can completely customise these controllers and of course you can only tune them down not up! The 1500W motor will almost definitely be able to handle much more current that it is rated for for short bursts

    Say buddy I wondering if you can help me with a problem?? I ordered An Ebike with the Sabaton 72150 (M) 72v 150A controller asked to to add alarm plugs but they didn’t. So I want to an alarm. I know the Orange wire goes to the key switch non voltage side (controller side) to power controller. The Brown wire goes to motor signal wire. But not sure where to connect the Blue anti-death wire since my controller did not come with one. I read in a forum I can connect that wire to battery negative to complete the (motor signal) connection. Do you think that’s possible? Thanks

  • @EverythingEbikeChannel

    Hi mate, the 3kw rating is a very safe continuous power rating that the motor can acheive with no extra cooling. Even with no cooling these motors can do 5kw all day and with some heatsinks and ferrofluid, I've seen people do 14kw bursts for a few seconds no problem.

  • @EverythingEbikeChannel

    @EverythingEbikeChannel

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! Tricky one with yours as sabvotons are normally used with 2kw or above motors, however you can both tune the sabvoton down and give the motor a bit more current that it's rated for without a problem (1.5-2kw peak). Sabvotons are really smooth and have some nice config options that you usually don't get on cheaper controllers so. If you're upgrading your motor later on anyway and your battery can handle it, you might as well get one to play around with on your current setup? Hope this helps

    From my experience with the sabvoton, low end torque is definitely a strong point. You can configure where on the throttle curve you want the power to come, but by default it just wants to go and I have to be careful making U-turns even at 2kw as if I give it full throttle, it will just go nuts!
