These tomahawks sure can eat. Looked like balsa wood going through it. Nice job. Thanks for sharing. Just cleaned my carb too.

Disengage the flails useing the belt tensioner. It will start a lot easier Engage after it’s running and disengage then shut down the engine. Good job keeping the old guy running. Those engines are really solid. They call that an up draft carb.

Thank you. I’ve heard of an up draft carburetor but this was the first time I had one apart. It was interesting. Definitely seemed like a well built machine.

Cool. I just did one of those engines at work, it was a 1976 concrete mixer. Hadn't been used in years, just drained the green crap out of the fuel tank and replaced the spark plug and fuel line and it fired right up. Not made like this anymore!

I know. These engines are pretty durable. There’s not much to go wrong on them. It would be nice if they would take the ethanol out of the gas, it would reduce a lot of carb problems. I’ve been putting stabilizer in all my gas cans, it seems to help

Do you know the model number for the chipper/shredder? I can't find my model number

Great machine.. I just picked one up but the stamped model number has since rusted off on mine. I have the same engine. @Jason The Municipal Mechanic, would you be able to share your briggs and Stratton model number on yours?

Probably right. It wasn’t really what I was looking for so I sold it pretty quickly.

If those chemicals would damage you I would have been dead decades ago. The asbestos in brakes and head gaskets would also have wiped me out. The amount of carb cleaner he used is very small.
