Using button combinations you can set the turtbo buttons on speed 1, 2 (original NEC ones, so 8 and 16 presses a second) and 3 (even faster at 20/s), it's explained on the 8bitdo support page.

Great that they come with dongles for the $25. I am content however with my OEM controllers that come with the Core Grafx Mini.

You mention how there might be issues with the PCEngine 8BitDo pad not having L and R buttons to bring up the menus in the NES Online and SNES online apps. Typically on 8BitDo controllers, you can press start and select, or Run and Select if we're going with TG16/PCE terms together, to perform a ZL + ZR command to bring up the menu in the S/NES Online apps. At least my 8BitDo SF30 and GBros adapter does that.

Would have much preferred turbo-switches instead of the buttons but it's not a deal-breaker. I'm going to get one of these, for sure. Though I do hate micro-USB on anything.

Thanks for this video cause I was wondering how the PC sees this controller ie: Xinput, Dinput or in SDL2 mode(the best way to use real controllers on PC). I just ordered the PCE version. I have a swath of controllers for my emotional PC and have been using the 8bitdo NES controller for my PCE games. I can't wait to use this controller...that feeling of authenticity that comes from using appropriate controllers with their respective platforms is unparalleled. Thigh I've been using the 8bitdo controllers for emulation and have absolutely no qualms, I've decided to order the Super Famicom, Famicom and N64 Nintendo Switch Online controllers, those are coming from Japan. To say I'm excited is an understatement.

There's a secret button combination to make the top buttons change to X & Y, instead of being turbo A & B. Hold Select and Down for 5 seconds. Voila, 4 face buttons for even more compatibility on Switch.

When you find your original PC engine controller, can you compare the dpad? I’m hoping the pad feels more like the genesis 6 button controller instead of the stiff PC engine Dpad.

Hey, Lon, I bought these based on this review and that you said they work on Raspberry pi's. I'm having trouble with mine. How did you connect them to the pi? Plugging in the dongle does nothing.

@@Droogie128 I had more USB-C cables and ports die than USB micro ones, worst I had with micro is a broken outer cable at the plug, it keeps working though. I find it hard to keep my USB-C cables in shape, they often have the inner plastic broken, and half of the cables turned into trash. And in the bad case you kill a socket, you can solder a new port yourself. Forget about that with USB-C.

@@Droogie128 The main reason it was swapped was it did not have enough pins for high speed. Not reliability. I still get many new devices with USB-micro, never a problem with it. You must have had a lousy cable seller.... I use micro daily in class with arduinos (about the most extreme testing ground), the cables never break, they only get stolen.

Weird that they chose a micro usb port and not a usb c port. It is a better port, mainly there would be less of a chance to plug it in the wrong way

Its not that weird if you kill a plug, and want to solder a new one on it. IMO both ports are equally crappy in the long term, but USB-micro can be hand-soldered. USB-C can only be replaced with reflow soldering stations.

For God sake...the best platform for emulation nowadays it's an Android phone and you don't tested on it...I will wait for the Bluetooth version.
