British Rail electric blue liveried 86259/E3137 named "Peter Pan & Les Ross" races south along the west coast main line and through Springs Branch depot south of Wigan on the beautiful evening of Saturday 1st June 2024.
The class 86 Locomotive was working the return leg of "The Cumbrian Coast Express" (Railway Touring Company) charter from Carlisle back to London. The electric loco did work London to Carnforth before steam 34067 and 47746 worked Carnforth to Carlisle and back to Carnforth down the Cumbrian Coast before the electric took the train home.
Les Ross is a lovely man and keeps his locomotive in absolutely pristine condition. He's always travelling with the loco too chatting to enthusiasts. 86259 has to be one of the most reliable locos working in UK.
Running probably 20 charters a year certainly gets some serious mileage under the belt.
